Installing the Honeywell T10 thermostat for the first time. I wanted to see what it looked like and how easy it was to program. I normally like the Honeywell line of thermostats, but the T10 is unlike any of their others.

Thanks for the helpful video! We just had a new Bosch package unit installed on our roof (BRB) and we were informed after install that Bosch had recently informed them that the Nest algorithm doesn't play nice with the Bosch smart features in the unit. They recommended the T10 or an Ecobee. We decided on the T10 since it will allow us to set the cycles per hour down to the recommended (1). Also, the extra smart features on the T10 and Ecobee need to be turned off as well we're being told.

I ended up with the T10, love it. However, there are some contradictions between the documentation, and the actual interactive menus within the app! Specifically, the instructions say that the Humidification Window Protection setting provides more protection (ie. lower humidity) at the lower end of the 1-10 scale, while the actual menu and help system in the app, says the opposite. Which is correct?

I have a thermostat in my living room which holds the most heat. It’s also right next to my fireplace so whenever I fire up the wood stove it thinks it’s hotter then it is and the heater shuts off. Can I use this to put sensors in other rooms so the heater will run until my rooms are the temperature I wanted then to be at?

Does the T10 have a setting like don't run the heat / ac until it is xx F off from the set temperature instead of starting to run in 0.5F difference? The Ecobee premium has this seeting.

Awesome video Josh, one thing I haven't seen anyone go into depth with is the schedule settings here, I've talked to a few people at the honeywell tech support with no luck, and simply cannot figure out how to stop thermostat from changing the temperature by itself in the middle of the night being on it's factory schedule. I have tried going into geofencing and setting a schedule but cannot figure it out! It turns down to 62 every night and my heater will not kick on so I wake up freezing. Any clues as to why it keeps doing this? Thanks!
@NewHVACGuide
@NewHVACGuide 3 жыл бұрын
You can turn off scheduling in the programming entirely. Otherwise, you will want the system to be in a “permanent hold“. If it’s in a “temporary hold“, it will always revert back to running the schedule at the next scheduled time.

Thanks for the video. I’m still on the fence… since the setup for T10 is more involved than say a Nest. I like the idea of taking off a T6 and popping in a T10. very well done Josh, l am searching for information regarding Honeywell Humidistats. I am in Florida so maybe you may not have customers with this issue. When closing up the condo for the season (summer months) my current thermostat is controlled by a Humidistat l have set to turn on when leaving for the season. This, l believe, will not work with the T9 or T10's as it will in effect shut off power to the thermostat thus not allowing the monitoring via the APP on my phone. The thermostat will only come on line when the Humidistat reaches the interior humidity level l have it set for. Typically l set the humidity at 65% and the thermostat to 74F. This results in my maintaining an interior humidity that will not allow molds to form and still have the AC kick in. I do not think either the T9 or T10 will permit me to do the same thing but l think l could control the humidity adequately by just increasing the thermostat temperature. Obviously the thermostat can be set at a higher temperature as no one would be in residence but would still allow humidity to be maintained. I would much appreciate your opinion on this situation as the Tech folks at Honeywell can not seem to understand the difference between a Humidistat and a Humidifier. Many thanks Dave

question for you or anyone, this is our second cooling season now on this t-stat, and for some reason, it makes the system run forever. like today here in PA, we just turned on the ac, it was i think 77 or 78 in the room the tstat is in, we have it set to come on a certain time at 75, and drop to 77 like later in the evening to sleep, it has ran for over 3 hours to cool to the 75, never got there. i actually watched it go to 75, then right back to 77, and now its at 76, and we pushed it up to 76 to get it to stop running and it didn't stop. any suggestions what is going on? why when it reached the desired temp it doesn't shut off, so frustrating for a new system, and it just runs all the time, my electric bills in almost $400 per month. thanks

Josh - I have a question for you. I just had a new Lennox EL18XCV installed in my home. The installer included new T10 thermostats with the unit. I was expecting to get the proprietary iComfort thermostats, but the installer said that the T10 is what they always used. But the installer also seemed to believe the unit was a single stage unit, when in fact the EL18XCV is a variable-capacity inverter compressor. So will the system still operate as a variable system without the iComfort T-stat? Is the T10 able to take advantage of the variable-compressor? Do need to change a setting on the T10?
@NewHVACGuide
@NewHVACGuide 2 жыл бұрын
There are lots of manufacturers making systems today that can be communicating technology or be installed with a regular 24 V AC thermostat. Most systems work fine with a standard thermostat but you do you lose some functionality including error codes and the ability for the thermostat to communicate with the system directly. A typical thermostat is just a series of switches that close or open based on what you tell the thermostat to do. Those closed or open switches are what control and tell the system to turn on or off. In contrast, communicating thermostats can tell the system what the temperature is and so on to allow the system to ramp up and down based on the communication.

How do I reset the passcode? Or reset to factory settings?

There’s a setting in the programming to do it. It’s usually one of the last ones.

I installed my T10 with just the wire holder screwed to the wall. Much cleaner look. No extra plates.

Contrata a un profesional. Valdrá la pena el dinero si no está seguro de cómo cablear o programar el termostato.

My Honeywell T10 started getting "memory error" alarms after 1 year. Now it alarms about once a week and shuts the system down. Honeywell support will only honor the warranty to the installation contractor not the customer. So you will get a new thermostat, but you will still be paying the $$$ service fee. $200+ thermostat for a total of 18 months of use is not very good.

Hi Josh, I had a T5 and was able to lockout the Em heat above 25 degrees in the settings. This way I was using the heatpump and saving on electricity. I bought a T9 and this option is not available on this unit vs the t10. However, I do have the capability to just zero the backup heat on my T9, just like you did on this video on the t10. Does this mean that even if I have the back up heat, it will be completely locked out and I will use just the heat pump? I don't like the blowing of cold air when the heatpump can't get hot air flowing on it's own when temps outside are let's say below 25? but it saves a lot of electricity. I am not sure at what outside temp will my T9 turn on the EM heat if I just leave on. Do you? (i know they use Accuweather to determine the outside temp for the lockout) Should I buy the T10 instead as a home owner just for this feature? I live in TN and we do get some nights that get to the 25s and several on 35 degrees. With the T5 I had it lock out the EM when temps were above 25 degrees and it saved me a ton of money last year. I have a newer heatpump now though and will be installing new windows as well, so my home will be able to keep heat inside longer I hope. ( a goodman 3.5 ton heatpump with air handler under the house.) Anyways, I'd appreciate your input on this. Thanks

Hello. I have not messed with a t9 yet. So I can’t say which is better. I’ve messed with the 9000s a bunch and they aren’t very optimizable. I only zeroed the backup heat in this video because my system upstairs doesn’t have backup heat. Some of today’s systems can produce heat below 10 degrees! So your lockout should be based on your system. Not sure if that answers your questions but I hope it helps. Thanks!

Skipped a lot of steps. Like the pass code. You might have covered it later but was not clear. There were some that you skipped where you might as well said “I don’t know what this does. If you don’t, hire a professional.” I thought you were the professional. That is why I watched the vid.

Furthermore, I said, if you don’t know what type of ventilation you have, you should call a pro. I never said I didn’t know what something does.

The T-10 and the T-9 are almost exactly the same. One is available in retail stores, and the other is only sold at distributors. They pay less, and they can enter their company name, address, and phone number if something goes wrong. This guy waits until two-plus minutes to mention turning off the power and starts the video after he has removed the old stat... Shame! Nothing on the common wire that some WiFi stats require... Shame! You have given me inspiration!

What non sense was this? All you said was ask a professional. You wasted 20 mins with giving no information of its distinct features like humidifier and ventilation.
