I have recently had a new boiler fitted by BOXT .The system worked well for 2 days but then air entered the system at 2radiators .I called the installer who eventually came back and re - bled the system again .All was well for 2 days then the same thing happened, same radiators . The installer is now telling me the problem is the diverter valve and needs replacing at my expense. How can a diverter valve ( which has been working well for several years ) be putting air into the system ,which is a y plan central heating system ? I would appreciate your views or any experience regarding this . Kind Regards Robert Jackson

Hi Robert, thanks for asking, you are correct, a lot of new boiler don't like Y Plans (mid position) systems because of lack of flow thru the exchanger. As many of my vids show too many houses have the wrong system plus no auto by-pass UNDER the boiler so the pump will make air, also the pipe work could have too much 15mm. There are auto air vents for rads but you will have to keek topping up and ruin the system. First try 2 bottle, of F2 silencer see if that works cost you about £30. 2. Around the pump should be an AAV (auto air vent) is fitted the cap and loose. Hope this helps, George Staszak.

Hello! Really appreciate the video, thank you. We had the 3 port valve replaced yesterday as the central heating was coming in when the hot water was coming on and not on its own. Unfortunately, no dice and it’s still happening! Trying to find an electrician to see if the timer on the Salus EP200 is broken first, then the next step would be investigating the ball in the T bit underneath the diverter valve?

Thanks for asking, something is wrong, over 6 years old REPLACE. You replaced the valve now replacing the ball? I assume just the motor unit was changed not the whole unit as per video. You don't need a sparkie to switch the HW. To test the CH and valve just switch on the HW, see if the heating pipes get hot. To test Programmer CH ON wait for the motor leaver (at the side) go loose and boiler ignites. Hope that helps, George Staszak 😀👍

Really useful, thank you! We are currently trying to figure out what's actually wrong at home as we only have hot water on and the radiators all around the house get hot instead. I powered down the system and the catch on the back of the 3 way valve moves freely with the power off.

Hi Michael, thanks for asking, easy, as per video, turn the Programmer and room stat to OFF/ 16C both valves should close if not either the motor has picked up volts on the blue (should be 0c to earth) or probably stuck in the ON position (change both valves) also check Orange to earth is also dead, if live then either room stat or Programmer is faulty not switching OFF. regards, George Staszak

@@mrcombiBedford Thank you! I think I get it as we have the Honeywell V4073A1039 motorised 3-way valve.I changed the room stat last year as it was falling apart on the wall :D

@@bunkermonkey_uk Hi Michael, a good room stat save money, I hope it's a digital stat. that mid position valve is the best good for 8 years and it must have an external auto bypass to work correctly, regards, George Staszak 👍

On any valve if you turn OFF the power all will close or it's stuck, replace the whole unit fill with F2 silencer, job done👍

@@mrcombiBedford Thankyou, I have tested with a brand new mulitmeter and both orange to earth is 0 volts and blue to earth is also 0 volts.

99.99% it’s the synchron… never let me down Very very rare I have to replace head or actual valve

Chohan, I am very disappointed, you are saying that if your parents valve breaks down you would say, "Mum & Dad, I will NOT replace for the latest version the way George Staszak (Mr Combi) teaches but I will get a motor from another make and fit it in yours" are you proud of me? I treat my customer as my parents only parents and close family don't pay. In 45 years as installer / breakdown engineer I would not last in Bedford being the BEST and most EXPENSIVE in town. Here ends the lesson.george staszak
