When I looked at it I said nope and ran the opposite way

1.Tearblaster disc launchers 2. Tearblaster lasers on face 3. Tie it down 4.war bow ice it till freeze 5.get to core and hit with hardpoint arrows until untied 6.repeat steps 3-5 until dead

1. tear off 2 disc launchers 2 .tear off radar dish 3. tear off back 2 cylinders 4. grab disc launchers aim for cylinders underbelly takes 2 mins to kill this way.

I just got on a near by mountain and cheesed the hell out of it.

And here i am, trying to beat it with only a bunch of fire-arrows

Just beat it, now I'm sort of a completionist so by the time I encountered it for the first time I was Lv.30 cause I was doing all the quests as I went along with the main story lol I just used tearblast arrows to knock its weapons off its back and used it against it, then some fire arrows and he was down pretty quickly.. good video though. 😅

I felt the same way when I saw this thing. I looked at it and I said "I want fight it."

Literally the only bit of good advice given here is to use Tearblast Arrows. You however neglected to do THE most important thing against the Thunderjaw, and that's to inflict it with the Freeze status. Screw Fire Arrows, you are 100% wasting your time using those. Use Freeze Arrows or Freeze Bombs! Then unload on it with your strongest attacks, whether that's your Blast Sling, Precision Arrows or Hardpoints if you have them. The best strat to use against these guys is to first use Tearblast Arrows to dislodge both disc launchers, then shoot a couple more at the face to dislodge those laser guns. Then Freeze it, then go grab a disc launcher and unload on it. If it didn't die, freeze it again and use the 2nd disc launcher against it. It will absolutely die from that. Done.

I killed my first Thunderjaw by shooting off the Disc Launchers with the Tearblast arrows and I picked up the Disc Launcher and just spammed them into it which brought it down to like 3/4 health and then I just spammed fire arrows. Good video though!

Some say... that the legend 27 killed 500 of every machine at once... With one stone.

I've taken 5 thunder jaws fine using the same strategy tearburst the disc launcher pick up the disc launcher and fire at the thunder jaw sometimes it. Even takes compartment of and then tearburst another disc launcher and doing the samething

I'm stuck with this thing at Cauldron ZETA, can't get past it!

I'm level 35 and whenever I see a thunderjaw or that thing that goes under the ground I kill it. I use the best rope launcher and then the very good arrows in the sharp shooter bow at the wake spots ant take away components

I tearblast the two disc launchers off and used them to shoot its heart. Once I'm done using those up I use my Sharpshot bow in the same spot. Some times I freeze it, some times I don't. And some times I tie it down to get a clean shot.

I took this beast down at level 11 and the xp it got me leveled me up 2 and a half levels

There's a trick that can be used to easily kill the Thunderjaw without even getting hit by him. Just go to the Sun Furrows Hunting Grounds and jump to the lower level of the hill (you can't shoot from the highest spot since it's a starting point for hunting trials). Then start shooting at the Thunderjaw located below. Use tearblast arrows to get rid of his disc launchers and cannons first and he won't be able to attack you. Even if he gets very close, there's nothing he can do from below (his only range attack left is laser sweep but it shouldn't hit you through the rocks). Just watch out for Ravagers and Watchers wandering around. Most of the time they will remain in yellow state and won't get close to you but occasionally one of them may get close enough to attack.

You forgot to mention that hiding behind or on top of a bolder does absolutely no good as their charge attack will break right through it. Learned that one the hard way.

I usually use the tear arrows to know the disc launchers off first, then I use those disc launchers to just tear them up.

They have a weak point midway between their head and their hip. Once you remove the armor covering it, you will see a red compartment. Hit the right spot with an arrow to do massive damage.

I used those tear arrows which explode (sorry forgot the name) and took out its weapons. Then, just shot it with hardpoint arrows a lot.

Just took it down as a lvl 15... carried the firework launcher from the zain mission to the thunderjaw, got positioned above it and cheesed it...

ran into my first one. defeated it pretty easy. And by easy i mean i didnt take any damage but i did take a long time and exhausted every type of ammo i had. haha. But then went back 20 minutes later and faught another one. My method was simple Blast off all major components so he only had 1 type of attack. tied him down. and picked up the disc launcher. does quick work especially for those who are early level.

You have a lot of variety of arrows and great Armor. I only had a simple Armor and fire arrows

I just tear of radar then disk launchers then shoot the damn thing with the launchers, unloading both launchers into it will kill it or almost kill it then just shoot hard point arrows at the parts with no armour that the launchers blasted off. If you have good tear and have some practice it takes about 2-3 minutes

I love taking down a thunderjaw .The main thing is to destroy all of its weapons using the tear blast arrows. Most locations hopefully will have a hill with rocks that I use to invade it .

you can tear the disc launchers off of it and use them as a heavy weapon dealing 400 something damage per shot btw.

With some mods I got a tripcaster wire bomb trap that does 500 plus damage. I put a lot in one spot in its walking path in front of the tall grass. I hid, whistled, and bam! One shot per say! Or if you have a weaker trap, gotta do the math, and put a bunch down! Yes it costs lots of resources either way, but man it's satisfying to put em down quick!

Tbh, rope tie and then unload your sticky bombs once you max out damage on your slings. Should come down in like less than 30 seconds. I'm sure things could get more exciting on higher difficulty settings though.

I found the easiest way to defeat it using only 2 steps. 1.Shoot out the disc launchers in the beginning 2. pick them up and shoot it with the discs. It'll die really really quickly.(whole process took me about 3 min)

1. Attack the Radar 2. disk Launcher one at a time. Pick them up use the 8 disk in each to attack it. If you have unlocked concentration that is even better use it. 3. Use normal damage attack to clean off the rest of its life. Fire works great. 4. Done Tear blast arrows work best for 1& 2

These things are beast. I took down one with a sawtooth and charger. But it still messed me up.

Umm use the ropecaster side roll and shoot it in the side where you reveal its heart you can get off around 3 or 4 shots of 200 plus damage while its distracted

Well I used the same exact arrows to dislodge his armor and weapons and then I pick up His launcher and destroyed him with it .

what i do is first remove those satellite plates on either side than rain down lasers, then i tear off each disc launcher to use it against the thunder jaw. if that doesn't kill it, i simply use fire arrows to let it melt :) reason why i use the disc launchers is because it allows me to preserve my ammo and resources

I literally just killed one using the one you said and the bomb slingshot and took one hit from hit

I have an easier method. I used Teardown arrows to take away just about anything glowing in yellow on that thing while hiding behind something to stay out of sight most of the time. Then, once that was done. I would just keep pelting it with Fire Bombs from my Blast Sling until it died. It takes a lot of resources, considering that I have to use a TON of fire bombs for each Thunderjaw, but yeah. I love fighting these things.

You just tearblast the disc launchers and use them to fight him. If you hit your shots with the launchers you have it dead already.If not use fire

Or, even better, if you don't want to even bother having to dislodge anything or use it's Disc Launchers, just Freeze it, and then unload on it with a modded to the teeth Rattler. Seriously, a couple Purple Damage mods and a Handling mod on a Shadow Rattler will take the Thunderjaw down in a matter of seconds! Once Frozen of course, gotta inflict Freeze first. You can even do this with a Carja Rattler with one mod of each.

I fought this at level 18 and managed to get it to a quarter health

1, tearblast everything off of it 2, freeze it with a warbow (damage will be increased this way) 3, sticky bombs (5-6 with maxed out damage mods) 4, hardpoint arrows into the hole on its side. It is down in now time.

I have taken down about a hundred thunderjaws by using precision, tearblast, and fire arrows

Not sure if anyone noticed, but a few times some men will come by and try to fight it, they are a good distraction to make some shots ! If your like me and try to hide lol

Just kill it near by the area where is surrounded by ravagers.Kill the ravagers first and then use the ravager gun to take down in a second

I killed it with a carja sharpshot bow

If you can get its disc launcher off and use it against it that is critical while burning it

Quick tip: If possible, get the high ground! A LOT of the Thunderjaw's weak points are exposed once you're taller than them!

I just killed a stormbird in a minute and some seconds, damnnn its weakspots are so weak

take off the disc launchers, freeze it, triple arrow it in the core for extra damage.

Really,the only thing you need to beat these guy was a good ropecaster and pointhead arrow or just your usual arrow which is alot weaker but it can do the job altho a bit longer.

I got lucky and a bunch of bandit's attacked it and kept it distracted while I just sniped the shit out of him from the cliffs

the fastest way to kill it is to knock off its cannons and disc launchers then pick up the disc launchers and shoot it with them kills it in less than two minutes

What weapon do u use

There is only one truly effective way to kill this and literally ANY big machine in this game. Freeze Arrows from a War Bow and then just rapid fire Hardpoint Arrows into it w your Hunter Bow. If done correctly you should be able to fell any big machine in seconds.

i killed a thunderjaw with only 1 arrow. just shoot a tearblast arrow at the disc launcher, grab it and shoot the thunderjaw. boom ez kill

I just grabbed that gun the guy used in the small town and blasted away half of his energy. Then I used the long range shadow bows and defeated him without all that A.D.D.shit. that's one thing I HATE A ABOUT this game is that the combat system is really bad. Nonetheless, I defeated it with no health items because all the damage was done at a distance. :)

I just shoot everything off, doesn’t seem too difficult

the fastest way I found killing it was 1. Put 8 blast wires down near the fireplace 2. destroy all components and armor with tearblast arrows 3. Switch to rattler and spam it with freeze bolts then switch to metal bolts. Cause frozen enemies does double damage 4. Lastly use both disc launcher. Always works for me. Give it a try
