Thorough, clear instructions. With the exception of enlarging an already existing hole, this should be an easy install for anyone looking to update their old deadbolt.

2:14 SEE!!!!!!! This is why I've been watching you for a decade or better!! I would have cut a plug, attached it to 2x, clamped it to the door, and cut the hole that way, about an hour later. These are the techniques I watch you for! Sorry to gush but you're young enough to be my son and I keep learning from you.

I installed the weiser locks,I like them bc they’re a little thinner so they fit nicely between insert frame and edge of door no trimming

Perhaps check to see if the hole alignment offset is where your new lock needs it to be before cutting a new hole aligned wrong. Check the template.

Pretty much there are two standards for back set 2-3/4 and 2-3/8 and most manufactures have latches that adjust to either backset.

Which I took your advice when I did that last. I also ended up having to call a locksmith since my battery died!!!

These give you a lot of warning when the battery is low. I have 5 and have never had a battery go actually dead. If yours is killing batteries quickly I would call the company, there is likely a problem with it. Ours last close to two years even through our cold winters.

Whenever I've played with the display models that they have set up in the stores, the schlage electronic locks all seem to work fine, while almost all the other brands are non functional.

is the weather that nice up there in Sask? Or is this a video that was in your pocket from last year? I've been tempted to get one of those Schlage keypad openers, but I think they have a little more refinement to do maybe? They'll get better, I think. Great guide on enlarging that hole-I had no idea you could use one small hole saw to guide the big one using the right kind of arbor. That's wild.

No Aaron actually even in our winters I maybe change the battery every 14 - 16 months or so. I buy good quality ones . What I like about this type is the battery just activates an actuator and it does not have to mechanically move the bolt latch like some others so it does not use much power each time. It activates the lighted buttons as well obviously.

Very well done sir. Have been going to do this to my front door but having a hard time choosing a good brand. Doesn’t have to be the most expensive, I’m more of a middle in the road kind of guy. Any suggestions or are they all pretty basic,,,,,thanks

I will add those in the video description. The hole saw size could be different for your lock but normally they are 2-1/8"

This particular lock has better reviews for reliability and security than many other electric locks. The instructions actually leave out a lot of more detailed instructions, so I have bookmarked the page on the internet for the full manual. It gives info like setting up a holiday feature for a long time away and resetting the lock if it major malfunctions. And the big thing there is NEVER loose the code sticker on the instructions or in the lock cover, because even if you change the programming code, you'll need the original for a factory reset.

what happens if the battery dies? do those still come with a key to unlock it?

Yes there is a key and the lock warns you for a long time when it's getting low. I have 5 of these and have never had one die completely . The battery usually lasts a couple years even through our cold winters.

I had the same one and it only lasted about 2 years before it started failing. When I changed the batteries it seemed to help initially but soon the lock would just spin and not catch the deadbolt. Took it apart and applied lube but no luck. I will probably just go back to a keyed entry.

Interesting I have not found that issue and I have a few of these locks.
