I was a welder and mechanic for 30 years. Your safety tips go a long way in refreshing good practices in my home shop. The fingers you save... May be your own. Nice to see ear & eye safety too. Thank You!

The one I didn’t know was the Recip saw…thank you. Glad also you corrected ‘Kutzall’…it’s an American thing calling stuff by it’s established brand name, but imagine how Irked Milwaukee, Makita and DeWalt etc must feel with their tools being referred to as a Kutzall or Skillsaw. Having said that…here in UK we still ‘Hoover’ the carpet as much as ‘vacuum the carpet’😂

Did the first circular saw plunge cuts of my life yesterday while building a chicken coop door lol, went great. Used your metal shed roofing video a lot for reference too, so thanks for all the info.

1:35 I installed some cat 6 into a wall from underneath that prevously didn't have a data jack. I continue to fall in love with my multi tool (oscillating saw). I'm cutting blind into a wall that has power, gas and who knows what else, but with that multi tool I can just cut the depth of the drywall and knock the piece out to see what's behind it. Best tool ever!

Thanks Shannon. I'm surprised you didn't mention that when plunge cutting using the circular saw and you're cutting out a rectangular piece, when the 2 lines of the plunge cut meet at the corner, because the blade is round, while the cut meets at the top of the material in the corner, they should also know that it's still not cut at the bottom of the material. You will then need one of the other saws mentioned in this video to finalize the cut all the way through.

Great tips, thank you! The plunge cut lesson was good too :D Cutting twice with the oscillating tool shows how much you really enjoy it! Got mine last week and I think I've got the hang of it. Ability to shape custom blades (hook shapes) is really handy, as is variable speed. Enjoy the spring!

That is a nice work table you used. Is that cloth covered or just the paint look? Very good advice on plunge cutting. The saber saw plunge is something I never tried. I usually drill a starter hole.

My circular saw blade never stops that fast on my Craftsman. What company is that from? I need to do some plunge cutting in the concrete of my basement to deal with some water issues. The house is over 100 years old, built into a hillside, and water always gets in when it rains, Some comes in through the cement blocks and has been discoloring them. I think I need to tar the outside of those and also install a sump pump. I think cutting a line around the perimeter that leads to a sump hole will work fine for when it does get in.

If you're doing a plunge cut in 5/4 cedar boards, and only want to cut out one board without cutting into the adjacent ones on each side, which saw works best ? One video I watched used a plunge saw and finished the edges with a reciprocating saw, but I hate to buy two saws and the rental fees are high. Great video and thank you for stressing safety tips.
