I have found success with soaking a paper towel with warm water and putting that over the leaf for a few minutes to help it unfurl

Thanks Shy! Love your house tour, I have a couple of the same plants, I always cut off flowers, particularly on the black velvet ! It’s is a fussy Alocasias, I lost my dragon scales, both! You r so lucky to be able to have your cacti inside on the window sill! I have only one window that gets the morning sun, love your Caladium, I have a collection outside. Happy holidays to you Francke!! The dragon scale alocasias are beautiful- sad to hear you couldn’t keep them! They ARE fussy and I think I’m going to have to keep moving the around depending on the seasons to keep them happy. The windows that have the cacti are East and West facing so they get lots of light! Love your videos! When I see a stuck leaf, I just spray it with water a few times over the next couple of days. The cactus at 28:10 could be an Echinopsis/Lobivia subdenudata, 28:23 looks like a Gymnocalycium friedrichii :)

Janine you know your stuff!! Thank you for sharing that info. Just did a quick google and yep, those look like the cacti. I just heard of someone putting together a weird concoction for the stuck leaves but good to know that plain old water works too!

@the.morning.chorus wrapping a damp, warm towel around stuck leaves helps too. You'll have to check it to see how long to leave it on, but usually an hour or two loosen the leaf in the sheath up enough to pop out or soften it enough to be able to help a little without risking damaging it. Hope this helps!

Hi Shy! OK with your Song of India...I had the same trouble with my Draecenas and new growth. I fill a spray bottle with half alcohol, half water. Spray it every day as new growth unfurls and bye bye pests! I love your home and plants! Wishing you a wonderful road trip and holiday and can't wait to see what plants you guys bring home! Your plant-pot combinations are so amazing and beautiful! For stuck leaves, I find that a light misting plus a metal ear pick (with a softer edge) helps with fitting into the sheaths and guiding the leaves out. Hope that helps!

Aw thanks Vinnie! We do take pride in our pot-plant combos :) that is a great tip re: stuck leaves. I’ll need to add that to my toolkit!

To help leaves unstuck I spray it daily with room temperature water 😊 hope that help I have silver dollar vine too (smaller version) I think I have a whale Fin sansevieria. It’s leaves was the size of yours (12”) than I start fertilizing once I see the last leaf poking through and it grew to be 19”👏🏽👏🏽 Edit: Did I see a tephrocactus Geometricus (the on that grow balls on top of each other). I am looking for someone who has one because mine is not doing squat🤔

Thank you for the tip! 🙏🏽 I have a couple of tehprocactus but they aren't geometricus (I WISH I had one though). I showed a micropuntia pygmaea towards the end of the video. It looks similar to geometricus but the segments are longer, more oval shaped.
