How Ancient Jewish Marriage Customs Portray What Jesus Does for Us

Do you ever stop to wonder why the Bible calls the Church (those believers who belong to Him) the Bride of Christ?
It is fascinating, to me, to study Jewish marriage customs in Biblical times. Especially since God designed human marriage to be a reflection of the relationship between Jesus and His people.
These customs shed an incredible amount of light on what Jesus has done for us, what He is doing for us now, and what He will do for us in the future.
This is EXCITING stuff!!!
I’m going to share 12 parts of the ancient Jewish wedding customs and how they relate to those of us who belong to Jesus.

THE ABC'S OF SALVATION
A = Admit you are a sinner and you can’t be perfect and holy enough in God’s eyes to be right with Him on your own. Turn away from your sin.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23
B = Believe that Jesus (God in the flesh) died on your behalf to pay the price for your sin and to give you a way to be right with God - to be forgiven. He lived the perfect life you couldn’t live. He died the death you deserve and rose from the dead in victory over sin, death, and the grave on your behalf!
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus, our Lord.” Rom. 6:23
C = Confess that Jesus is your Lord - this means, Jesus is now your Master and you live your life for Him and His glory rather than for yourself. You say it out loud to others and you live it from now on. You lay down your will and your desires and follow Him, inviting Him to direct and use your life for His will.
“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.” Rom. 10:9-10

I watched your video on Sunday 08/13/23 and was moved to tears realizing we (believers in Jesus) are the Bride of Christ. Hallelujah Jesus is preparing a place for us and he is coming back to receive His Bride! Come Lord Jesus

Greetings April, I think it's so beautiful that He created His bride from His rib or side ( the blood and water) just like Eve was created from Adams rib ☺️ also the cup of salvation means we will partake in His sufferings and be broken as bread and poured out as a drink offering for the benefit of the church out of love for them.

Danielle - Hello, dear sister! It is beautiful that Eve was created from Adam's rib. I had never thought about that parallel with Jesus' side. Thank you for sharing that. Yes, we will share in His sufferings here on earth and then get to share in His glory in heaven afterward. Our light and momentary afflictions here will be nothing compared to what we will enjoy with Him when we get to be with Him in heaven. Much love in Christ!

It brings my daughter and I so much joy that you made these discoveries and to see you so full of joy today! I don't know if you saw this in the scripture either but in Genesis 3 when the Lord first reveals how we will be reconciled to God He says that Eve's desire will be for her husband and He will rule over her. The bride of Christ desires Her husband, only He satisfies her and the Lord being our husband rules over every aspect of our lives. Many blessings and much love to you April and your family. We don't cease to pray for you and your family - may the Lord bless you all. May He continue to do the good work He started in all of us to present to Himself a pure bride without spot or blemish , free of the false man made doctrines in Christendom and free of any beliefs philosophies ideas or practices of the world!

The most complete typology of the Jewish wedding ceremony I have heard. What are your thoughts on this interpretation of the Matthew 24 and 25 passages. In 24:27 as the "Son of man" is a term used for his coming to the earth, after the tribulation. v 29, notice...( "after) the tribulation of those days". v 40-41... "one shall be taken, and the other left" is not the rapture, the one taken is for judgement. Mat 25:31-46, 13:39. The 10 virgins is the Nation of Israel, awaiting the coming of their Messiah, the 1260 days have passed, and they slumber in discouragement and in the next 30 days the Lord Jesus returns to the earth. Dan 12:11 the extra month seen in the 1290 days not 1260.

I love the parallels with Jesus’ words and actions, like the Lord’s supper, baptism, the trump at the second coming. It brings a deeper meaning to the scriptures for me. Thank you so much! Did you purposely release this before the Feast of Tabernacles? Many say the 8th day points to our future wedding feast with Jesus. “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.” Revelation‬ ‭21:3‬
