QC has VERY strict rent control (rent control applies between tenancies too) so rents are much cheaper. This affects property values to some extent too. Cost of living is much better over there. Oh and alcohol is very much government controlled including wages and unions (its mandatory). Its just too bad that almost everyone gets paid the same, wages for nursing should be higher based off skill alone. It just boggles my mind that someone working in a liquor shop should be paid similar to that of a nurse. No offence to those who work in liquor shops, but those are entry level skills (not something that requires years of schooling).

RNs are paid 39$/hr in province of Manitoba. It’s so unfair. After all the schooling & student loan they made me accumulate. It’s heartbreaking. The only way u can break even a little bit is to go to the very Northern side without your family, etc and for my life stage I can’t do that now. And we are taxed half of what we get. As an immigrant & after all that work, I can’t even pay up my bills 😢.

Wow fascinating interview. Makes me grateful for my work in western US. Even healthcare in the US is vastly different as your channel shows. Sounds like Quebec is a place I wouldn’t want to be an RN. I was shocked and asked them...why in the world would you move from a place that gets socialized healthcare medicine...my dumbbutt thought was the coolest thing, and I thought they made great pay...😮😮 Boy, i was wrong!! The nurses told me they were BARELY MAKING $7.00 as an RN 😮😮. And the wait list times were atrocious.. i hoped it woukd of changed..crazy... hell, over here in texas is bad too. 😢

CA has some of the highest COL in the US tho. In a low COL area $24 is decent money. I’m an LVN (1 yr school) in. TX w/1yr of exp and I make $33 staff and with a little OT im clearing around $90k which goes pretty far where homes start at $190k. In CA you’d need to clear around $130-150k to live a similar lifestyle as I can here.

@@AstroZombie1 Your comment is relatable. I live in NM where cost of living is much cheaper and you get more for your money. I make just under 102k/year (clearing nowhere near that amount) and could never survive on that in California or NY. My NET monthly take home is about 5k a month after benefits/TSP where I give 13% of each check, union dues etc. Married, no kids and only about 95k left to payoff my home which is valued around 280k. My mind is always blown with hearing what other people make whether more or less.

It’s also not an entirely free country. It’s vastly different from the US. Socialized medicine will never be the solution to any healthcare issue. Ever. They will end up losing medical professionals. I mean let’s look at Kaiser even 20 years ago. No one wanted to work at Kaiser. Why was that? It was the way it was set up as its own HMO. I’m sure you still experience people asking you if you have any issues with kaisers care. After being in the field for 20 years…I see the stark difference between KP and other private hospitals. KP loses money when a patient receives care; whereas a private hospital is making money on care. It’s the same way with socialized medicine. People truly don’t understand this. If you’re perfectly healthy that’s great! If not, well, it’s a good thing I work at the hospital….

I’m not a fan of Kaiser at all! Just like an HMO, any treatment, diagnostic, etc comes directly out of their pocket. The less they do for the patient, the more money they keep. You’re right, people are clueless! They think free healthcare, but it’s not. A gal I know had a brain tumor (craniotomy) and it was a battle to get the tumor removed, battle to see doctors in the office and the pathology took 2 months to get results.

Move to the US. Life is to short to work as an RN for such low wages. Northern Ca would pay you $130 - $150 an hr. Sign up to be a travel nurse. Get a job in the US. Then work your way to Northern Ca. Jason will guide you. With your experience any of the major hospitals will hire you. After your working in Northern Ca I’m sure it won’t be long until you meet a nice man who is an RN. RN couples in northern Ca earn $600k - 1 million a year full time. After a while you can dial things back to just two days a week if you no longer need the money.

Socialize medicine in Canada is selective care. Younger people are given priority over elder person who has the same diagnosis. Hip replacement is a one year wait for the elderly or they pay privately. Some comes to USA. Cancer patients depends on what stage. Some advance stage that Americans get treated for is denied in Canada . 60 minutes did a story on Canadian health care. The grass is not greener there. Meds are less expensive than the USA.

I agree with you that all jobs matter but I didn't take that as her putting down McDonalds workers, you choose to receive it that way. You also seem very ignorant about what nurses do. Nurses are the Janitors of the medical field. It's not just calling names, giving meds, and charging. I work 12hrs shift where I don't even get a chance to sit down. We get spit on, peed on, pooped on, and bled on. We do resuscitation on patients, we lift people. The amount of squating, Bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting is ridiculous. On top of dealing with rude ungrateful administration and patients. We need to use our minds and our bodies simultaneously at all times. That's like saying you're fine with your police officers to be compared to fast food workers. Everyone grateful when law enforcement and medical staff save their lives or loved ones life but they you on the internet saying our job is not harder than working in fast food?!?! Fast food is hard, it matters, they should be paid well but we invest too much schooling, pay too much for our education, and bust our bodies too much working long hard stressful exhausting shift to not get compensated well.
