Robocop 3: Bad special effects, terrible robot (Otomo, its not even an animatronic or stop motion doll, just a regular asian guy), terrible plot, production practically screams "low budget!". And worst thing, no Peter Weller ( and they kill Nancy Allen!). Robocop (2013): Cool but generic special effects, generic CGI robot (ed 209), bad pace, ugly Robocop armor (the black one, the classic grey rocks, but appears just for a little time). It's ok for the new audiences, but unbearable for old time fans.

+Michael Gaddass In their defense, that ED-209 was supposed to be a prototype that wasn't even deployed on the street. And the characters didn't know what happened to Kinney because they didn't see the Robocop movie SINCE THEY'RE IN THE SAME UNIVERSE AS THE MOVIE. However, the number 548 does not exist, but the street does. Personally, I'd like to have one of those Taurus LX the DPD drives in the RoboCop movies, and make it look like one. It'd be awesome, and I guess it'd attract curiousity - especially if I'd manage to get a replica of a DPD uniform and armor from the movies. I'd drive the thing dressed up like that on car meets. I completely disagree with you and agree with Mark. When I left the theater after seeing the second, I left unhappy. I felt even back then at about the age of 10 that they had some great concepts but could not pull it out and destroying everything that was accomplished in the original. I also did not enjoy the scene that the writers later did not do anything about later, and that was the whole thing with his ex-wife and staring out a window watching her. Murphy, not Robocop was satisfied and ready to move on with his life. The second does not have that feel, at all. It feels like all the character building from the first movie was completely destroyed and they acted like it never happened. It feels like they did not enjoy the story of the fist and left some of those elements in the second and the problem is that it did not make any sense to anyone. It is again a let down and we are left with a completely watered down movie from the original. Many elements that were left open from the original were never completed in the series and were never mentioned again. And the man that owned OCP turned into something he was not and that was an asshole. Remember, he was the redeeming factor of the film that put common sense back into that situation by firing Dick and allowing Murphy (Not Robocop) to kill Dick. Without that action/ decision that ending would not have happened and there would have been a different continuation. Everything rested on that termination of employment. Showing that the owner of OCP is not a bad guy. So, the other movies are a sham.

Robocop was all about the duality of Robocop/Alex Murphy. How he maintained his sanity being removed from life essentially but still in the world with all these memories. As the sequels moved forward they strayed away from this duality which was the key central point of the story. We should have seen him dealing with emotions any human would face. Doubt, imposter syndrome, depression, inadequacy, resentment....instead we got....well what we got. Had he dealt with all these things the community coming together and helping him would have made more sense.

On the topic of how DISTASTEFUL it was to have a 12 year old boy be such a major villain, I read an article about TERMINATOR 2 JUDGEMENT DAY filmed just one year after Robocop 2 and the writers of that movie made sure never to allow the 12 year old John Connor (same age as the kid in Robocop 2) to handle a gun. He might have handled one briefly when he was with Arnold in the underground bunker to inspect the weapons to make sure they work but never did he FIRE one or use one in a threatening manner, not even to slow down the T1000 (bullets did slow it down some). The writers were determined to keep him "innocent" (yes he did break some laws like stealing money from a bank's computer but never anything violent) since he was just a boy so ONLY the mother and Arnold fired guns.

Also I don't think the kid actor gets enough credit playing this young villain. I thought he was great, the kid has talent! I thought this kid had some potential to be a really good actor. And considering how most child actors can be obviously terrible, I thought this kid in robo cop2, successfully conveyed a cold, creepy, erie, manipulating monster. I kinda compare him to almost Griffin from berserker, if he wasn't killed off too soon. But hey that's just me. I respectfully disagree with your opinion.

yea i really dont blame kid actors even if they r bad cause ovisly if the film is bad its problynot their fault also they do need kids or even babies for scenes i think this kid did good andcould had went on to become adecent actor i know he was working for cain it was different instead of making the kid the good guy
@flappysquirrel51325 жыл бұрын
Right... that's the same kid actor from an episode of Star Trek TNG that became an honorary Klingon.

It still has Stephen Root, one of the best of modern character actors, as well as the late, great Daniel von Bargen - and they also both appeared in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", though they shared no scenes in that one.

6:02 to Rich Evans this: they should've dropped their guns and felt some temporary relief before the robot goes "assessing remaining threat: neutralize" or simply repeats itself like it was malfunctioning, instantly re-heightening the tension before the kid finishes hacking into it both a more sensible scene and does a better job manipulating the tension

I loved Robocop 3. Sure, it has some weak spots and continuity issues, but the plot serves as a pretty good window into the struggle between establishment and resistance. Robocop 3 is pretty much the culmination of what has happened from the first film that leads citizens to ultimately become mobilized and fight back.

I dont get why some people still say that Robocop lost what he gained at the end of the 1st movie. He didnt. Everybody at the police station calls him Murphy now which means he still acknowledges that fact, he remembers his family and tries somehow to get it back, makes some jokes here and there, etc. He cant act any more human like that because well, he is a cyborg now so thats as human as he is gonna ever get.

for robocop 3 the plan was to get his face fixed after the molotov-cocktail attack by some splatters, saying that he was so badly burned that he needed a new "face", and thats completly fine by me because robo's "face" is just dead skin over a robotic case

RoboCop 2 isn't terrible, it's not great, but it can be a beer and junk food movie. RoboCop 3is unwatchable. The original is a classic. I'm still yet to see the remake, I doubt I'll ever bother with it.

And then in a few years they plug him into Skynet. Software is so simple all it can do is gather and sort information whereas he can posit, conjecture, guess and desire. Can he make the machines truly think? Yes! Can he give them desire? Yes! WW3, the Terminators is it possible? Yes, in fact it is inevitable. I wish they could make a good crossover movie based on this comic.

If you were aware of Detroit politics in the early 2000s, with a Mr kilpatrick lol, you would definitely think this mayor is legit

@michael cooper what part of that is against the constitution? Your bias is way too obvious for you to be taken seriously. At the very least explain what you mean because this makes no sense. By the way ALL democrats support red flag laws, and banning of ALL firearms, so he's still the far less extreme of choices.
@kh86554 жыл бұрын
@michael cooper So you're mad at that, but not at democrats for also supporting red flag laws, have banned much more than just a bump stock, intend to ban all firearms, and banned the word illegal immigrant in all NY? That's 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th By the way he only banned criticism on college campuses were you already aren't allowed free speech because it's not a public area, same as a workplace.

Something that I really hate about sequels is how, in many cases, they tend to retcon things that were established in the first movie. This is most prevalent with bad sequels, but even the good ones tend to do this sometimes. (Spoilers for Terminator, Highlander and Transformers ahead). For example, the first Terminator told us that you can't really change the past, but then T2's like "No, you can change the past if you want to." Or Transformers, it ends with Bumblebee getting his voice back, but then at the beginning of the next movie it's broken again for no explainable reason (not to mention the fact that Megatron was killed at the end and then the Decepticons easily revive him later). Or Highlander, which ends with Conner winning the Prize, which means that he is the last of the immortals, but then suddenly there are more in the next movie. Then we have RoboCop 2. I could probably go on and on, but you get my point.

That kid was a gangster in the second movie for sure. Remember this is a 90s movies; this is what they thought the future would be; the RoboCop movies are based in the 2020 or 40s from 1980s or 90s view point..

DecrepitServant cliché doesn't really mean bad. In fact, you can make a story better with cliché as long as you know how to use them. I'm not saying that make all movie with cliché good but I don't think cliché are that bad. PS This is in no way showing my true opinion on this movie
