@@NursesToRichesI think the toxicity in nursing is pretty deep and not specific to any one ethnicity, though it can definitely have different “flavors.” It would be super helpful if you guys did some videos on what kinds of situations people can encounter and suggestions for how to deal with them. Maybe even have an employment attorney as a guest bc I think people often leave or get pushed out of those environments and don’t know there rights may have been violated and the toxic behaviors just continue with the next victims. Don’t ask me how I know 🥲❤️‍🩹

As a local to Roseville & Sac, Monica and Jason are, once again, spot on about everything! My sister-in-law just moved from SoCal to Elk Grove to her new grad RN program. I love the diversity of Elk Grove and they have Asian grocery stores like Seafood City, with H Mart being built right down the street--one of the sources of my envy of living all the way in Roseville. As a side note, Elk Grove has these older mid-century modern style homes with atriums that are GORGEOUS!

I’m glad I did my research after I watched your video in end of 2022. By Mar 2023, I endorsed my license to Ca and got it in May 2023. It took me 2 months to get into Kaiser which surprised me because I thought it would take me more months. I need to decide fast and chose not to let go the offer. I started in Nov. Got 6% increase in Jan 2024 + $14 night diff. Whatever info I learned from your channel is very true, legit and accurate. I know someone who worked in SoCal Kaiser for 15 years and yet my starting pay is even higher than her. Now she understands why I chose NorCal than SoCal even I would be closer to her. Thank you, guys.

I tell this to everyone who asks me the question you're asking me: just get your license in both states and apply for work in both states. If you get an offer in your home state first, then take it. Continue to apply for a job in California while your work in your home state. Then, move to California after you get a job offer. However, if you first get an offer to work in California, then you're in luck, and you can move to California immediately after passing your boards.

If you purchase in NYC you should consider at least a duplex or larger multifamily. You can definitely get a 2 family in Brooklyn or Queens or Bronx for 1.2 mil You can rent one unit and live in the other. You still have a basement and backyard. You might also consider Jersey City or NJ close to Manhattan and look for area near the train so you can have easy mobility to city without car if needed. As long as you are a benefited employee (not per diem) and you work more than 20 hours per week, you just have to pay around $72 per pay period for union dues, which cover health and dental insurance, paid sick leave, paid vacation leave, bereavement leave, holiday pay, continuing education reimbursement, tuition reimbursement, CEU pay, and more benefits.

I'm biased because I work for Kaiser and it's the best place to work, in my opinion, because there are way too many benefits to pass up. One of them being the option to move from a kaiser hospital or department in one city or state to another without even having to interview for the position. And there is no VA hospital that will pay you $150k+ as a new grad working 36 hours per week. Also, if you work at the Kaiser in South or North Sacramento, you will be very close to many Indian stores. Monica and I both have a lot of Indian coworkers. Both of these hospitals have a very diverse workforce.

Disregard. Median is the only objective way to show viewers. There is some nuance though. And to be clear I was born and raised in NYC. My siblings are spread throughout the boroughs. Brother lives in Westchester, another in BK, a sister in LES. You can definitely live for less, but for viewers median is best objective numbers. To be clear, I'm not trying to hate on you guys. Constructive criticism is not hate. I've watched every video, going back into your archives and use your spreadsheet. But there are some generalizations about the schools and boroughs that does not paint an accurate picture. Research for yourself...niche, greatschools, etc show a different picture. My wife and I did a similar move. We moved to the DMV area during COVID because travel nursing was paying her $4500/week. We paid down a bunch of debt.
