Have you ever wondered how your custom foot orthotics are made after the cast is taken? This video goes through the process of making an orthotic from a foam box cast.

I've been wearing orthotics for years and had a new pair made a few months ago and they are nothing but a headache for me. The doctor I went to doesn't adjust them or even makes them, they are made in a diff state. Had I known this ahead of time, I wouldn't have wasted my money on them. Had them sent back for adjustments, had to wait a month to get them back and all they did was add huge arches on both of them. One foot feels like there's half an orange in it. I had to peel off 2 layers of heel from both orthotics, since they didn't do that as I had requested. Felt like I was wearing high heels all the time and I had broken blood vessels on top of foot by the toes. That has gone away since I peeled off the heels. I think I'm going to have to go to a diff place to get new inserts again. For the past 3 days I've been walking with a cane because of the pain, which brought me to your videos.

Hey. There’s a bunch of orthotics. I might have to get different orthotics from different doctors. But before u get them ask doctors how they look

For years, nobody has given me that type of shell, which the podiatrist I worked for in the 80's gave me. I had a couple of hard, black things which BROKE MY FEET. Now, I found an over the counter brand that actually feels great. However, a new podiatrist had me experiment with a carbon Morton's extension...which I was give 50+ years ago at college...I had had bunion surgery about 6 months before...and FINALLY, I can walk better...but, I do not trust new orthotics at this point...I will go for a consult, but if they don't look like this...I'll use the OTC orthotics and the carbon Morton's extension! I've had it with the garbage that's around now ...cost me hundreds and gave me foot fractures! I'm going to show this video to the guy I'm going to...if it's anything other than plastic ...forget it!

I have a fallen arches and insoles do not help me, I have changed 3 custom insoles already in a few months that not solve the problem. Is there a way to build an insole or a special shoe that will prevent the the fallen arches? I found some kind of medial flange that some are doing or UBCL insoles. What do you think about that?

Nice video! How long does it take to make a pair?

It depends on how many features are needed, but it's usually about 2 hours.

How would you alter this to correct alignment. If this is just a cast of the foot then it wouldn't correct over pronounced feet would it? I'm very curious 🤔
@ontheballorthotics Жыл бұрын
This all depends on many different factors. The easiest way to answer this is if the natural arch collapses when standing, the natural arch support would prevent the collapse. Posts in various areas of the foot can be added to push the foot from the bottom (when applicable) to rotate the foot out again. Additional corrections can also be made after casting the foot, but before pressing the shell on the foot cast.

Hello, I have watched several of your videos and am have several questions. My adult daughter has spinal bifida which causes significant differences in leg length. Her left shoe has (without measuring) approx 1 inch overall lift applied. I am a very handy person and would like to try my hand at putting the lift on. Where do you get your materials ? I kinda need a little info on these materials. I am going to show my granddaughter your videos to see if there is any interests in learning your trade. Thank you

I was wondering what is that plastic sheet called (that you put in the black and decker toaster oven)? Is there a specific name to it? Thanks.
