The title of this particular video should be titled "Why you need to choose the right nozzle". Thanks either way for the info.

Good content. My irrigation man put 2.0 gpm nozzles in all my sprinklers ( 90 degree, 180 degree, and 360 degree). That didn’t seem right to me and you have confirmed he has mismatched precipitation rates totally. Thanks for your video!

not a lot of help. I have a rod of 10 snap off nozzles. I have no clue which to use and for what, except trying each one individually on each head geez

I am using all 1.0 nozzles on rectangular lawn. .75 in the corners fall short so I have 1.0's quarters. Half circles is better with 1.0 when I do 1.5 it is too strong too much overspray and mist trying to turn the screws down.

I'm getting ready to change some MP rotors to some I20 six inch pop ups. I got the spacing a little too far apart on the rotors and I'm not gettin good coverage. rather than digging everything up and moving stuff, I'm gonna try the rotors. But something told me there was something I was missing about rotor selection, and nozzle selection. This gets me on the right track for understanding the issue.... rotors move at a constant rate, so more angle means less passes. I also have to split this zone into two, and add another valve, which means I need 17 channels on my system, but my controller is only a 16 channel controller (rachio). So I'm gonna add another 8 zone controller for the drip zones, and use my existing controller for the grass zones. They won't conflict with each other because I water the grass in the early morning, and the drip in the early afternoon. It's 108 degrees outside. Perhaps cactus would have been a better choice?

I still haven't found a good instructional video here. I have the exact layout here like this video. I initially thought 1.5 in each corner, 3 perimeter, 6 full circle. But then i look and the precip in/h is .27, .42, .58 and radius 35, 40, 47. What is frustrating is that i have no idea how those numbers correlate to position. Like the 1.5 @ .27 precip in hr. Since that is a quarter circle should I calculate that as 4*0.27? So then 3 is 2*0.42 for half circle? And then 6 is 0.58? That would be 1.08 in the corners. 0.84 perimeter. And only 0.58 from the middle rotors. There is no way to get the middle rotors to match the corners or perimeter. I GUESS I JUST NEED TO KNOW HOW TO USE THE NUMBERS I HAVE FOR THE ROTORS. Going quietly insane. Thanks.

Yes, this can be frustrating. The standard blue Rain Curtain nozzle increase radius from 35' to 47' as you go from 1.5 to 8GPM. The low angle nozzle is an option, but again the in/hr doesn't match. Rain Bird has some matched precipitation rate nozzles with 25', 30' or 35' throws. I couldn't find them anywhere for sale last summer, but I see them on the Rain Bird web site now. store.rainbird.com/5000mprmpk-mpr-nozzles-for-5000-5000-rotors.html#product_tabs_description_tabbed

@@astange3 Thank you! This might help me greatly if what I'm seeing is a specific angle for each of the watering rates! Really appreciate your reply.

@@jgspeer13 You're welcome. One more thing to note: the precipitation rate on the chart for the standard blue rain curtain nozzles is for 1/2 circle of rotation. So it's .27 in/hr for half circle. It would be about .5 in/hr for quarter circle and .13 in/hr for a full circle then.
