The various Haemonculi Covens of Commoragh are capable of returning fallen Drukhari to life. But since the souls of slain warriors will dissipate into the depths of warp space upon their death, just how are these scientists able to restore the spiritual essence of those that they resurrect?

I feel the same way about my painting, but then I started painting mini s as Christmas ornaments and giving them to family. Everyone is amazed by the details while I still see every miss stroke and bumped brush mark. And then I look back on some old minis that I painted early on and see that I have gotten better. My current troops look better than my old center pieces. Save some of your old minis and look at them next year and the year after and compare them to your current work.

I've only ever heard of drukhari being resurrected by haemonculi within a week of their demise. Normally the haemonculi tell people that the process only works for those who've been dead for less than a day, but that's a lie they tell to prevent the occurrence of "disjunctions" (earthquake analogs which pulse through the webway and mess up Commoragh all the time). I've also heard that eldar souls tend to stay within their bodies for about a week before passing into the warp. Because the process has a higher likelihood of causing disjunctions if performed on those who've died for more than a day, I think the process pulls the entire soul of dismembered drukhari together from their remains wherever they may be. Thus transit of the soul through the Warp to return to the fragment within the care of a haemonculus needs to occur quickly, or else daemons will be attracted to the lingering essence like vultures to a carcass, waiting for it to pass into the Warp fully to be consumed.

For me, I just assume that it works just like necromancy in dnd we're you forcefully bring back the soul even if they are captured by a god. The only thing that makes me think that this is true is do to the lore of how hereteks create demon engines by forcefully summoning demons and forcefully put these demons in machines then force them to accept there commands, and at one point this happened so much that the chaos gods invaded the HellForges to stop them from mass producing demon engines.(Theoretically ,if they kept building more demon engines they could inevitably kill the chaos gods. Death by a billion tiny tears from there very flesh) This to me means that souls can be forcefully taken away from the chaos gods to be resurrected like they normally do, although they require the "essence" of that person to do it which would make more sense if "essence" was spiritual essence harvested from the remaining cells of the creature, rather than just being biological material for merely cloning sense you can't get memories from DNA or at least not much memories.
@spectolder8536
@spectolder8536 4 жыл бұрын
Perhaps this is related to how exactly Slaanesh reaps her harvest from the Eldari and Drukkari. Instead of complete consumption, the fate of the souls captured is described as continuous suffering, which implies that the soul itself is left more or less intact and "milked" for negative emotions for as long as possible. Over time her grip of the captured soul grows stronger as it wears out, and eventually it is merged into her without trace, but until that moment a fragment may be "pulled out" somehow. In this case multiple resurrections would likely yield an effect similar to Necron "soul erosion", rendering the individual dull-sensed and disoriented.

I always figured the main piece regenerated into the original person, soul and all, while any extra pieces could be regenerated into psuedo-clones or new Drukhari. That would partially explain Commoragh's high population of a non-prolific species.

seeing this really gets me thinking about the possibilities of drukhari ressurrection, imagine the opportunity for storytelling that this could have say if one were stuck for even some time trying to evade daemonic entities, desperately trying to keep their soul together. Imagine the experience of an entire party of drukhari as they are picked off one by one, each of them suffering deaths worse than that of which they faced in the materium. It'd be very gruesome.

It's obviously the time of Warp. A soul entering into the warp enters into the past, present, and future. Just like how Horus is still doing his challenges into the 41st millennia. The souls are literally plucked from the moment of death, regardless of when. The only confining factor would be if the soul was currently existing outside of warp for that duration. It is probably possible for the Haemonculi to rebirth someone not even born yet if they had the genetic material. The Aeldari used to build with warp, creating and dismissing gods as needed prior to them birthing Slaanesh. The Haemonculi represent the surviving Drukhari experts on that knowledge.

I know age of sigmar isn't 40k. However slaanesh consumed countless elven souls. Morathi, Malekith, Tyrion and Teclis (malekith's grand nephew's) trapped Slaanesh and smacked out the souls of countless consumed souls from Slaanesh. Those souls became new elves. So when a soul is consumed it isn't destroyed it just becomes a part of what consumed it. Plague bearers are actually consumed souls from nurgle that died from his Rot. You can't really destroy a soul either, just absorb it (the emperor is an exception to this rule destroying horus and his soul entirely). See ynead is just absorbed eldar souls. Slaanesh is really just an amalgamation of absorbed eldar who were consumed in the fall (the degenerate ones). Chaos don't destroy souls but absorb them and corrupt it. The idoneth deepkin are the damaged elven souls that were corrupt by Slaanesh. So the dark eldar are basically probably taking back the souls from Slaanesh and swapping them with human souls. The emperor is the same, an amalgamation of the human psyker shamans of ancient Terra.

I reckon the idea that a piece of a beings physical remains could be used as an anchor in realspace to pull or snatch a soul from the Warp. And from the perspective of a conscious soul cast into the Warp upon death, as long as some party in realspace pulls them out then daemons or other powers seeking to consume their soul would be unable to, as their arrival and their escape would be near simultaneous.

I will need to dig through my Black Library Dark Eldar books to find it but there IS a time limit to it. After that time the resurrection has a greater and greater chance that when you "pull it back" it will bring a demon with it. In fact, that actually happens in one of the books where they pull the soul back and it has since been consumed so while the "whole" soul returns it also brought a demon back as well because the demon had consume the soul, which is less like "eating" and more like absorption. The Demon adds the Energy, thoughts, experiences, etc to it's own. Which is why the ancient dark eldar who was resurrected still had his thoughts, memories, etc but also was possessed, he was himself, but not. Sort of like how the Gal Vorbak were less "possessed" and more "amalgamated" with demons. Though it's hard to say because sometimes it seems consumption=destruction and other times it seems consumption=absorption. We do know that demons grow in power and awareness by "eating" each other and souls. So who knows.

The aelves from Age of Sigmar manage to pry souls from Slaanesh’s belly, don’t they? Therefore it’s possible to get souls back after they’ve been caught by a demon. Of course the drukhari don’t have a caged Slaanesh or literal gods to help them, but it’s possible that the soul retains a spiritual connection to its former body which would potentially make it easier to retrieve it if you have the body and the Aeldari have hade hundreds of thousands of years to perfect their mastery of warp-borne-bullshit.

While I am not sure if this is exactly canon, I think it is strongly implied that the Souls are 'immortal' in a sense and cannot be destroyed in any meaningful way. Split and sundered, maybe, but not outright destroyed. The Souls of Aeldari who perished with the birth of Slaanesh are told to be in eternal suffering, implying that even those who were at the epicenter of murderboning range and lost their very lives to the She-Who-Thirsts still exist in a sense. So perhaps whenever the body is fully regenerated, it just acts as a psykic beacon or an anchor that draws said soul back to reality, albeit terribly traumatized? This could be the case with any soul bearing species, or just Aeldari. Then again, this might be based on what I read on more fan related sites either, as I cannot exactly recall where I read this information.

This just brings me to the question as to why craftworld Eldar don't clone themselves, like warrior with spirit stone dies - stone gets recovered - they clone the warrior and with the stone they restore the soul to the cloned body, so they won't lose too many warriors. As for spirit stones not being available, the cloning would be only for existing Eldar, not to create new Vat Eldar like the Dark Eldar do.

I don't know if you've read them but actually the process is heavily explored in the "Path of the Renegade" novel in the Dark Eldar trilogy. SPOILER WARNING! An archaic and his allies plan to resurrect El'uriaq, master of the destroyed realm of Shaa-dom. in the Haemonculus labs warriors are regrown in crystal sarcophagus which hang above or below slaves being tortured and abused, it is implied that the corpse absorbs the suffering and soul stuff and it is exchanged into the warp to return their soul and empower their regrowth. However the haemonculus explains to bring back someone as long dead as El'uriaq would require a far larger and psychically powerful source of suffering and so they have to kidnap a world singer from a maiden world because the suffering of her soul would be so I tense that it would allow any resurrection. Unfortunately the novel shows the process can go horribly wrong as El'uriaqs body is regenerated but it is highjacked by a Daemon, one of the archons allies brought back during the same ritual seems to be reborn perfectly with his soul intact but the daemons interference in the ritual allowed a lesser Daemon to possess him also and slowly consume his soul from within over weeks, eventually taking over his body completely. So the process is a bit like the dark eldars daily routine of absorbing others suffering to rejuvenate themselves, but it is prone to flaws and issues if left too long as the book implies the soul maybe too far gone or corrupted by its time in the sea of souls.

Yeah the use of suffering correlates with what's mentioned within the Codecies regarding the re-growing of Drukhari bodies, though it's stated (in the 8th ed codex, at least) that the anguish caused in this process is responsible for restoring the physical body, with the suffering that's absorbed into the restorative 'chrysalises' during the resurrection process being used to regrow the skeleton, then musculature etc, and in regards to El'uriaq specifically, the reason why the pure soul was needed to restore him was purely because of how long he had been dead for (if I'm remembering correctly) Also, it is potentially possible that the daemon may have been bound to El'uriaq's remains, since Shaa-dom was not only rife with warp energy, but his palace was guarded by Slaaneshi daemons when Mor and co went to retrieve his bones, which could have allowed it to 'stow-away' as it were. But regardless, it seems somewhat bizarre that any amount of suffering can be used to effectively switch with a long dissipated soul into the warp, given the time frame and how valuable Aeldari souls in general are to Daemons (though in fairness one could argue time dilation etc)

@@40KTheories I agree, by the end of the book my assumption was that El'uriaqs soul had long ago been consumed by slaanesh so when they tried to revive it there was nothing left to revive and so the Daemon took its place and that it was pride and hubris on the Drukharis part to even think it was possible. If the metaphysics of AoS and 40k are similar it obviously is possible to reclaim a soul from a chaos god but even the Aelven gods had to kidnap slaanesh pin them down and fish the souls out one by one.

The trick is 2 layers. The Church of Subterainian horror, is a church group of nuns who fight Subterainian Alligators, why? Because they believe that Subterainian Alligators are sent by the devil. Two layers. You don't need anymore for the most part when it comes to lore as it becomes cyclical. If you leave the second layer slightly open you have a mystery if done right.

Why doesn't the Mechanicus simply isolate the pariah gene and infect a large self sustaining population with it? A planet full of people with a negative warp presence would be useful to recruit soldiers from instead of relying on random mutation. Also what would happen if someone who already has a soul has their DNA manipulated to suddenly have the pariah gene? Would their soul dissipate, or since their soul is already formed, would nothing happen?

This is just cosmic spam folder type of revival...... Okay I'll just question the possibility of a resurrection of the same dude can make two clones from one soul is in the plate at this point sounds completely normal and not ethical at all even though they question themselves if they are just imitations or they are just demons just saying this is just hard to understand how they aren't affiliated with chaos

Ok, but why would the Dark Eldar want to ressurect Sanguinius? (And if it's possible, how/why hasn't the Emperor not been able to do it, given that he's the most powerful single psyker in the galaxy?)

if blanks don't have a soul then why psykers are so freak out by them? I think blanks have a soul, but it is a positive/negative relationship with regular souls
@40KTheories
@40KTheories 4 жыл бұрын
This is because Blanks produce a negative warp presence (as opposed to producing a psychic echo within the warp, which is what a soul is), rendering their mere presence incredibly panful to Psykers.

I think 40k is full of bad writers that don't bother to really think thru a lot of their decisions and you're wasting your time acting like their is logic to how anything in 40k works when various authors seem to have just done whatever the hell they wanted. Seriously the guys at GW need to hire one of those guys from Marvel or DC that are in charge of making sure canon does not get broken but then again all of their new content is just breaking canon anyways so fuggit!
