Tooth Mousse and MI Paste Plus from GC contain the patented Recaldent™ technology
These products help to protect the oral environment in wide range of situations where a mineral imbalance may arise. They help in remineralization of teeth, reversal of the white spot lesions and protect teeth from dental caries. They can be used during tooth whitening (bleaching), orthodontic treatment, dry mouth conditions, professional teeth cleaning, root-planning and curettage. They can be applied professionally in the dental office or given to patients for home care. Tooth Mousse contains CPP-ACP only while for enhanced protection (better remineralization) MI Paste Plus contains 900PPM of Fluoride in addition to the CPP-ACP. What happens when Tooth Mousse or MI Paste Plus are applied to tooth surfaces?
The CPP-ACP molecule binds to biofilm, plaque, bacteria, hydroxyapatite and surrounding soft tissue localizing bio-available calcium and phosphate. Saliva enhances the effectiveness of CPP-ACP and the flavour helps stimulate saliva flow. Tooth Mousse works quickly, within 2-5 minutes, but the longer CPP-ACP is maintained in the mouth the more effective the result.

Recaldent™ is derived from the milk protein, casein. For many years it has been known that milk and its derivatives have a tooth protective effect. Research has shown that this activity is due to a part of the casein protein called Casein Phosphopeptide (or CPP), which carries calcium and phosphate ions 'stuck' to it, in the form of Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (or ACP). This complex of CPP-ACP (Recaldent™) is an ideal delivery system for bio-available calcium and phosphate ions.

CPP-ACP is derived from milk casein, and should not be used on patients with milk protein and/or hydroxybenzoates allergy.
