There's a saying, “ *English is an easy language to speak badly* ” And I believe it’s true. Not only do we lack cases, elaborate word endings and genders, but native English speakers are usually really happy to try and understand non-native English speakers and encourage them to talk more.

If you're Indian and you don't know Hindi, then communicating with another Indian who doesn't know your native tongue then speaking English is obvious and natural. At that time it becomes a necessity, not a luxury. I ranted about the people who treat English as a thing of pride and importance while demeaning their own native tongue.

Yup english is a must and a necessity while interacting with people of other states. I dont speak hindi well and tbh I dont like speaking in that language too. Also downright hate the forcibly hindi imposition by modi govt in every state to slowly impart north Indian culture in every state while strategically destroying native cultures and tradition. Its already happening in majority of Indian states.

Maybe you are missing one point… french and english were on par due to their colonies in 1920s, but america invented computer and defined ASCII as the only language which can interpret punch cards…french language lost once computers and initial interpreters where only using 127 characters ( skipping special characters used in european languages) of America Standard Code for Information Interchange. Computers where shipped all allies who had to learn english to program them…
