I've always used a torch for those...always keep one because they're super easy to replace. Ultimately you do eventually drain durability by accidentally hitting things you don't mean to.

I suspect items with elemental effects do drain anyway too, since they have limited uses and still throw their element when swung. Edit: Update to this: Forrest Dweller weapons don’t drain! So if Tulin is too hard to aim for Wind puzzles and the like, grab a spear and charge it. As long as you don’t actually hit anything it has unlimited uses

Something I only recently learned is that you can also activate Zonai objects by *throwing* things at them. Don't wanna risk wasting weapon durability hitting the minecart your fan's attached to, but also don't wanna waste an arrow or bow durability? Throw an apple at it! Or a mushroom! Or a... you get the idea, lol.

for the gerudo weapons, I think it is worth fusing high damage items bc the damage is doubled. Like, I have a Gerudo claymor from the depths with + 7 damage and I fused a silver lynell horn to it so it does 129 damage. And the way I keep it full durability is only use it when mounting a lynell, since that, much like BotW, wont use any durability. Its also the only time I need to do that much damage at once

Yeah I made my first Back Smacker from a Gerudo weapon with a certain 50 damage club fused to it. But upon realizing that Royal Guard weapons also double at that low durability like someone suggested, I went and hunted a pristine one and moved the Club over. I've got a Broadsword right now, so might hunt a Claymore for that extra like 20 damage after next bloodmoon. Or wait until someone steals enough kills on lynels causing me to gp and break my weapon.

probably 25 like weapons. If a consumable thing like a puffshroom is used, i think (i hope, haven't tested yet) it uses the potential 25 durability points, just that 1 point is added, allowing you to fuse potentially 25 items of that kind before using your shields actual durability. durability loss is probably calculated the same way as in botw, see croton's stats of the wild for that. i'm more interested in getting a deep dive into the extra properties a shield can gain from fuse like the ever popular rocket shield which is just one of the many things the shields can do.

What?
@AlbedoAtoned
@AlbedoAtoned Жыл бұрын
@@jetho9859 Rock Octoroks in the Eldin Mountains can repair weapons, shields, and bows to full durability sort of like how they used to turn rusty weapons into normal weapons in BOTW. You basically drop what you want repaired in front of the Octorok and let it suck the weapon in and it will shoot it back at you fully repaired. Not only that, but if it has no modifier, it will give it a white one, and if it has a modifier, it will give it a yellow modifier (better than white modifiers). The modifiers themselves are random, and if you want a specific one, you can save before having it repaired. After you have it repair something, you will need to defeat it and wait until the next blood moon for that specific Octorok to be useful again. Outside of the once per Octorok per blood moon, there is one other limitation. You can't directly repair unique weapons like the Champion or Amiibo weapons. However, you can indirectly do so by fusing said weapon to something that can be repaired and then paying an NPC in Tarrey Town 20 rupees to unfuse the weapon.

The only thing I'm still confused about is why do some fused weapons only break the fused item, but other fused weapons break the whole weapon?
@SolDizZo
@SolDizZo Жыл бұрын
I would have thought this was due to some evenness stat of durability between the two weapons / items... but after seeing this video the only thing I can think of is that Nintendo curated a short list of appropriate conversions. If the item can replace the blade, the durability is directly replaced. Obviously some base weapons modify durability as stated in their descriptions. If the item turns a weapon into another "named" weapon, such as a club or an axe, same thing. I noticed that axes have more durability than sticks but it's not additive as shown in this video.
@PoofPoofification
@PoofPoofification Жыл бұрын
@@SolDizZo it might be more obvious than I think, actually. I have a hunch that weapons fused to weapons break, but items fused to weapons destroy the whole thing. I'll test this theory later.
@nacaicon1593
@nacaicon1593 Жыл бұрын
Judging from my own experiences and the video, it would appear if you fuse a 'low potential durability' item to a 'high potential durability' item (ex. fuse bone arm onto a rusted sword), the low durability item will break first. Most monster parts (horns, fangs, etc.) do not have their own durability, and so break when the base weapon does afaik. Gibdo bone is a special exemption, since it breaks after 1 hit no matter what. Fuse a rusted weapon to a stick? Rusted weapon will break first. Other way around? They will both break at the same time. Bonus Math: Using the spreadsheet linked in the description, a Rusted Claymore has a Maxlife of 8, and MaxExtraLife of 10. I assume this means the max durability when anything is fused to it is 18 total. A Thick Stick has a Maxlife of 14, and MaxExtraLife is empty so I assume that means 25. So max durability when fused is 39 total. If you fused the Rusted Claymore (18) to the Thick Stick (39) it would last for 18 hits before the sword would break, leaving the Thick Stick with 14+7 potential durability. You could then fuse another Rusted Claymore (18), which would last for 18 more hits, leaving the Thick Stick with 3 Durability total left. If you fused the Thick Stick to the Rusted Claymore, after 18 hits they would both break since the Base Weapon broke at that point. Or if you fused a Thick Stick to another Thick Stick, they would both break after 39 hits.

I haven't played with them much to confirm, but the magic wand/rod/staff don't are unique and dont lose durability when fused with a gem or elemental material. Instead the gem breaks leaving a more or less useless magic wand. I run around with a fire-like stone and ice-like stone fused to two deferent staffs to melt or produce ice, haven't used them for combat and they haven't broken yet after hundreds of uses, including stabbing the fire-like staff into ice blocks dozens of times (I now suspect that action doesn't consume durability).
