On a road trip across Japan on a Yamaha MT-07 I had to stop to fill up regularly - and it was always a pleasure. The staff know how to provide perfect service every time.
One of the interesting things was that in some stations there were no petrol pumps (gas for you Americans) visible at ground level - they were lowered down from the ceiling to save space.
The MT07 is a great little bike. PS - 'regular' in Japan is a much higher octane rating than regular in the US, and is used in the vast majority of vehicles. The only other option is 'hi-octane' which is for highly tuned vehicles and supercars etc.

The gas/petrol stations in Japan look way cleaner than it is here in the U.S. people seem more polite and friendly.

You're right about both. I think America needs a wakeup call. Can't even make decent cars that last a long time either.

@@adamcoppola7591 yeah, American made automobiles from American car manufacturers probably doesn’t car about the reliability and quality in the American domestic market.

The station with the hose and nozzle hanging from the canopy is insane. I work on gas pumps and install underground fuel tanks for a living. Very curious on how that works

Wish I had spent a bit more time looking at it too, but was in a rush as I had to get back to Tokyo all the way from Osaka hahah. Very neat space saving idea.

That's dedication even if you're just a pump attendant. Meanwhile over here (Malaysia) we have to do it by ourselves, but in the earlier years there were pump attendants here too (but no where as professional as these Japanese ones), but were phased out in favour of station owners trying to save money on hiring attendants. At first you feel troubled but after a while I think I would prefer handling it myself.

In the UK we always pump by ourselves and I still prefer doing it that way. Gives you a chance to look over the car/bike and stretch your legs, and also means you can avoid fuel drips. Can't imagine it's healthy for someone to stand around breathing in petrol fumes all day every day either.

@OIC islamic cooperation if you mean those days when I worked as a pump attendant? No, but I can't see how having a debit card would make any difference to my job that time. If you mean now, I use credit cards at the pump.

Like the friendly service they provide. If only we had this in Europe, there would be a lot less queues and aggravation ✌🏽

America will start seeing overhead -gas- biofuel pumps once we admit all the immigrants from the overpopulated places in the world and the prices for city real estate get even worse. /s not /s Seriously though, immigration to the US is NOT the solution to overpopulation problems in the rest of the world, even though I'm the son of an immigrant myself. Not saying we should not let in immigrants _at all,_ either.

Would be new jobs available if we did this here in the US. But god, I cringe thinking about the types of attitudes customers have here in America for this type of thing.

I'm presuming _none_ of the overhead pumps are capable of self-service, if that's even a thing in Japan?
