I worked for Eddy Masks years ago. 20 years ago. He made a great mask and always used top products in every mask. I still wear an Eddy to this day. It’s a shame he’s not in business anymore. But with the top brands shipping production over seas and paying top players to wear their product it’s hard to compete. I’ve never been hurt wearing my mask and I’ve had some rockets at my head. It would be nice to see Eddy come back to making masks again. I should have got a custom one from him when I was there. I’d still like one today. I remember the osgood one fit me perfectly.. Again amazing masks

This is so cool. I would have loved to see Andrei Vasilevskiy's mask being painted.

This video should be titled: How "MODERN" goalie masks are made". Very interesting video. Back in MY day, I had a plaster cast made of MY face, and layers of fiber glass were heated and dropped on to it like cheese on a burger. Then the eye and vent holes were drilled and cut out. A lot of us wore that style of mask. It was basically like what Jaques Plante and Bernie Parent wore. The style shown here, basically what EVERYONE wears today, is pretty nice. I doubt it offers any more protection than the helmet and cage type, but it looks cooler!

9:52 a nice tribute to Felix Potvin during his time with the Kings, who had his mask made/designed by the legend Greg Harrison

My friends mask was black and it faded into a wolf head with lime green eyes at the top and fangs going down the side. (She played for Chicago Mission)

I got my helmet custom painted by Marlene Ross (lives in my town) It has my nickname (YOSHI) on both sides, graffiti style, and my team logo on the front, and the rest is landmarks in my town, like city hall, Memorial Center, and places like that, it's red, white, and black, IT"S PIMP!!!

Anyone know what model Eddy was done with that Molson paint job at around 6:40, or anything additional about that mask?
@realtormouser5 жыл бұрын
Apewrench If I had to guess I would say it was an Eddy GT with a Molson paint job. The eddy pro had a full layer of Kevlar. The Eddy Custom Kevlar also had a full layer of Kevlar as well. The Custom LT also had full Kevlar. I believe their GT model only had spot reinforcement of Kevlar like this model. (I'm going off of memory as I've owned several Eddy masks and I used to work at a pro shop that sold them). They've been out of business for several years now. I still own one of their last high end models (eddy custom LT pro spec....Ben Bishop was the last NHLer to use this model I believe).
@APEWRENCH5 жыл бұрын
So the GT’s were fiberglass with spot Kevlar in say forehead and chin?
@realtormouser5 жыл бұрын
@@APEWRENCH Yes, that's what I remember.

This is how specialty helmets are made most helmets are mass produced and use lower quality fiberglass

@tylerdurdonxx I think it was the original intentions (guys started painting skulls and shit on their masks). Now its just to look cool and its just tradition.

@HALOGLITCHES43. Masks made by Eddy Masks (the company in the show) are not $400. They are closer to $800.

i dont think that putting on a goalie mask is a sign of weakness. i call that common sense. do skydivers use a parachute because that are weak, or do police wear bullet-proof vests because they are weak? its just dumb not to wear a mask, i mean come on....

haha yeah the first thing i look at when im on a breakaway is the goalies artwork on his mask and get intimidated by it. no. not really. i just look for an opening and then i shoot.

That's not even potvins real mask. It's just some dude totally ripping it off. I hate when people steal other goalies designs
