Its an absolute joy to watch these CDM/DLP hybrid players play the game when they are on their level. As a Dortmund fan, I remember when Tuchel took over and bought a young and unknown Julian Weigl from the german second division to play as our single CDM. I swear I've never seen us play such fluid football from the back. The kid absolutely bossed our midfield. Vision, composure, tenacity... most touches, most passes completed every game, always available to receive the ball... it was ridiculous, how this young kid was dictating our game. It was like we found our german version of Busquets...

Loving the series Pythagoras. Would appreciate an analysis on Lokonga seeing as Arteta plans to use him as a 6 in the long run, however he does seem to lack in a lot of holding midfielder qualities.

Please do Fábio Carvalho (Benfica-> Balham/ Fulham-> Liverpool & 🇵🇹 U21). I’ve watched clips of him (as a Liverpool fan and read reports), he seems excellent technically🙏🏻 would love to know whether you think he’s most similar to a player like Coutinho (the ‘little magician’) as many suggest?

Good player but I don't think he is ready to play for one of the big boys yet. What are your thoughts on Yves bissouma, do you think he can become a DM or is he like a tchoumeni. Great video analysis as always

Bissouma is not a CDM. He is more of an advanced 8/Box to Box. He has more silk to his game than a Tchouameni but not as defensively robust.

Pace is a weakness?! He's not a winger. For a central back turned CDM he isn't slow. His style doesn't use pace, but if a striker runs behind the defense he has decent pace. Not Van Dijk, but not "a weakness"

But jokes aside if we don’t progress how our owners want I can imagine he’ll want to go to a CL club, probably the deal with us is: get to Europe over the next few years if not sell him for a profit to a team in Europe.

That sounds fair and at the moment Villa look on the verge of breaking top 6-8 if they continue to make the right transfers. My only concern is the loss of Beale who was massive for the club from a tactical point of view.

Solid player- very balanced full back, like a Lizarazu but I don’t rate him as high as that but still clearly world class level and barely breaks a sweat.

I am a Brummy 😂 and well Busquets was around 21/22 when he was already starring for Barcelona and he’s one of the all time greats. For me I don’t see Kamara hitting that level but I do think he’s a massive talent and Villa will love having him onboard. He’s definitely champions league quality.

You mention Douglas Luiz but he's not a 6 he was the best we had at a 6 when nakamba was injured Douglas Luiz is an 8 simple so comparing them is wrong really as they are both positionaly and tactically different and that's fact and comparing him to probably one of the best in segio busquest is a little unfair as he is and established number 6 and kamara is 22 years old and still raw and learning so he will be know where near in those numbers and mctomainey is a number 8 too same as Luiz so can't compare him either where as delcan rice yes is a number 6 but has 4/5 years on kamara and rice has played in the Premier league most of his career which no disrespect to the French league is not near the standard of the Premier league so numbers will be different you have to look a the base and the potential of him which looks promising

He's one of the best midfielders in the premier league at the moment. If you watch him he's worth every penny. He's free so the higher wages aren't too much of an issue. He is elite and will probably leave us for 80-100 million in a couple if years time if he carries on.

Think Kent is a very odd player actually. Technically brilliant and one of those players who maintains his technical level at pace . I think he would be a great fit for villa at their current stage and funnily be better suited then let’s say a Leon Bailey who is probably more suited to a less compact orientated side. I think the time is right for Kent to come back to the premier league and where better then under the management of gerrard who has coached and improved him before. Bassey also seems made for the premier league - physically he is definetly ready. I just feel he would be better suited staying at rangers a further year and learning from his captain Tavernier who has really perfected the art of always being in the game be it with deliveries into the box, darting in and out and scoring goals. I fear the bigger boys may come to the party if he improves at the rate he is. His career could go so many ways at this stage
