Over two yrs old...and still as informative. You can tell you are a teacher. Simple explanations....as to 'why' you tune this way. If there is one thing I have learned. My arrows are not tuned well. this season took on a completely different 'tune', When my Daughter asked to go hunting with me.....That is a Good thing

Personally, i bare shaft tune my arrows, then nock tune and finally paper tune, just how i do it. Sometimes my fixed blades group with my fieldpoints, but this year with a new batch of arrows my blades are hitting low. I know it is awesome and super efficient when your fixed blades and field points hit the same mark, but for me I just don’t care. I want a perfect bullet hole, and all of my arrows to group with each other. I live in africa and shooting from springbok to eland, we need good accuracy, as shots can go out to 55yards.

Hey, love your videos, they're very informative! I was just at the archery shop yesterday and they were telling me the importance of tuning your broadheads. However, all the archery ranges around me don't allow broadheads. Where do people go to tune their broadheads?
@averagejackarchery
@averagejackarchery 5 жыл бұрын
Mostly, people buy their own target for broadheads. Sometimes, if your club has an outdoor range, they'll offer a few weeks before season to setup broadhead specific targets.

If your bow is really tuned and you have the spine arrows you will not NEED 4-5" feathers. Unless you just want to use them for whatever reasoning. Doesn't matter what head you use- 2 blade fixed, 4 blade fixed, mechanical will fly just fine. Assuming you have at least good form. GOOD LUCK!!!

Yup thats how I pretty much tune my bolts and arrows too. Get them in the same grouping and its perfect. I know many people tinker with it and i just cant see the value in it in hunting situations. Long range target archery and Olympic archery. Tinker away. Hunting i cant justify it.

Question I'm new to archery this year. I have done everything you mentioned in this video and all fall had my broad heads and field points hitting well. I bare shaft tuned them originally. Good flight and all out to 40 yards +. recently in the off season I worked on the bow and found my center shot was out of line about 1/8 in to the right. So I recalibrated that and set my notch point slightly above level. Field points now fly just as good but broad heads fly way low/ right with a fishtail. Wondering why I have to set my rest so far right to get good broadhead flight. I'm left handed using a wisker biscuit black hornet see razor heads duel cam split yoke bow 55lbs 28in draw. The only thing that seems slightly off is my bottom cam stop hits slightly before my top cam. I hope I explained that ok I've learned a lot this year from your vids. Thanks

Is it necessary to align you're broadheads with you're fletchings? Cause I have seen people do it. I'm just wondering if it is required.
@averagejackarchery
@averagejackarchery 5 жыл бұрын
I personally am a believer in it, but others will claim it's unnecessary. Of course if you shoot a 2 or 4 blade head, aligning the blades to match 3 fletchings isn't mathematically possible. :) In that case I align the head so the blade is parallel to the riser when the arrow is nocked onto the string.

@@averagejackarchery People need to understand that it's not so much about aligning the blades with the fletching, it's about having all of your broadheads aligned identically. You want to have each broadhead catching the air the same way as they leave the bow.

I got a question for you, you can make a video on this if you want. If your upper body is 30 feet in air up a tree, the deer is 4-6 yards away, pretty much right under you, where on the deer do you hold your 10/20 yard pin? With that angle of shot, where through the deer does the arrow need to go? I've heard you need to hold your pin off the bottom of the deer a little, Is this true?
@averagejackarchery
@averagejackarchery 6 жыл бұрын
Eagleclawswoop Driver Great question! I might have to make a video on that! The best way to find out is take your treestand in the woods along with you bow and target. Give it some shots and see where your bow puts them. Everyone's bow shoots differently, so it's best to know exactly what yours does.

Your arrow arch at a downward angle depends on the angle you're aiming. If you shoot straight down no matter how far down your arrow is going to go, you don't range that shot Because gravity is pulling your aarow in the direction you intended it to go in the first place. So if you're shooting 6 yards away from 30 or 100 yards up your aarow will still only have 6 yards of drop maximum. Since your arrow is going down it'll actually have less drop than if you shoot it at 90° paralelle to the ground. So for a 6 yard shot from 30 feet up you really only need to range it at 5-6 yards. If you range it at 10 yards your arrow is going to end up 8 yards out past your target.

@eagleclawswoopdriver8675 5 жыл бұрын
Michael Homer thanks alot for that response, I dont have a range finder. I can tell this is a real problem, I feel like I need to climb a tree and practice shooting 5 yards from the base of tree, however I dont have a 3D deer target which is another problem, I cant hunting hoping always for a perfect 15 to 20 yard shot, sometime I'm going have a deer below me and I want to be ready.
