I am genuinely sorry for the people who seem fixated on trying to tear you down in the comments. I don't think they realize how ironic it is to go out of their way to /bully/ a person on the internet sharing their story, and consider themselves "not abusers". Aside from this, thank you for sharing! It's a pretty rare opportunity to hear about someone's inner world this way.

I know someone who was diagnosed with this at 19, then showed no more sociopathic behaviors (criminality, impulsiveness, disregard for others) for decades and was eventually diagnosed with something else (major depression, PTSD). She's putting in the work and exhibiting self-awareness. These diagnoses are fluid in the young, have some grace.

It's good to be prepared for all eventualities. Good on you for working on yourself. I hope you are able to start feeling some of the prosocial emotions one day. Do people with ASPD (especially narcissistic ones) ever self-sabotage/destruct when they feel out of control?
@liminal-cc3go
@liminal-cc3go Ай бұрын
New to this channel & haven’t seen any other videos yet, but a genuine question I have would be -how do you deal with impulse control? Like in the sense it seems it’s often stated that the apathy and or mind numbing boredom of aspd is one of the most challenging aspects of it as it’s pretty much always present?.. So in that case, it seems often times someone struggling with that experience will eventually also struggle with impulse control specifically in regard to making an attempt (or feeling an urge) to break out of that feeling, even if only for a while. How do you handle this post getting help??
@sunnyday3539

Thank you for creating this content, to help people better understand what it feels like to have ASPD and NPD. Your lack of ability to feel prosocial emotions is possibly due to a genetic variation in your body’s oxytocin receptors. Read “Moral Molecule” by Paul Zak for more info. I’m curious, if you could take a medication to feel all emotions like a “neurotypical” feels, would you want to take the medication?

Is this numbness and low prosocial emotions the result of trauma? Since you have been able to bond with safe people e.g. fiance seems like a defensive response to feel apathetic or low care for others rather than pure low arousal antisocial traits. Those kinds never feel any bond with others and would never even when young have anxiety or shame

Usually psychologists disintinguish psychopathy from sociopathy based on the origin -- psychopathy is given at birth while sociopathy is developed through child trauma or emotional neglect.
