@steinbierz thanks! And thanks for watching! I used treated sills plates, but I kinda wish I had just saved a few bucks and put the sill gaskets down . I'd think with that floor coating you'd probably be safe with just sill gaskets just incase you ever do get a little water on the floor .

I think it's nice to have a separate living space that's not attached incase of a fire or something but I think if I were to ever become single again or have to move I'd build the biggest building I could with a house built into the end of it just to have a simplified build . Framing it similar to how I did mine should pass in most places but best to check with your county to see exactly what requirements they have especially for a residential space they can be a little more strict in some places . Not sure that actually answered your question though but I hate to give you incorrect info .

So I painted it for 2 reasons one because I just wanted to make it look nicer and more custom/finished and 2 the red paint on the steel is just a primer to help protect the steel from rust until its under roof but in my case because the steel sat in my yard for a few months before I put it up it got dirty and scratched and did have a few areas of light surface rust starting so cleaning all that up and painting it with this rustoleum industrial smoke gray oil based paint sealed and protected it from any further rust and made it look much nicer in my opinion. Yeah if I had one I probably would have used one but these ram set nails seem to work pretty good as long as you have some good solid concrete to drive them into, if it's loose and breaking up it will just blow it apart and not hold at all . I need to buy myself a good hammer drill but for how little I ever need one I just haven't been able to justify the purchase yet .
