To be honest, I can't really remember much from when I last went to an open day and I didn't attend this year's, so I'm not sure, but it's usually a bit of background info on the university, a campus tour, some information on res and the clubs on campus as well as the facilities and then pretty much the same information that I gave in part 1 and 2 of this video 😊

Hey! It is still relevant and I remember how confused we were by that form. I still used the form, but then stated clearly what the profession was of the person filling it in, and then I would just leave the stuff out that only a vet would fill in. You could also simply type out a paper that states your work experience there as well as the phone number and signature of the person you worked with as a reference. Because a lot of my shadow work was done before we got those forms, a lot of my shadow work had references like that and they did not seem to have any problem with it. Hey! I can't remember the individual subject marks, but I had a 86 average in grade 11, 85 in grade 12 and my grade 11 APS was 42 and for grade 12 I was admitted with an APS of 41 (after a remark my Accounting went up with 1% so I ended with an APS of 42, but I was admitted with the 41)

Hey! If I remember correctly, they only look at your final grade 11 marks for conditional admission and only your final matric mark for final admission 😊

Yes you can. I remember we filled out my value added form, then also uploaded a document with all my proof of shadowing as well as pictures of me shadowing, doing horse riding, possibly even of me at the reward ceremony at school, but basically anything that might help. Rather give too much than too little. If they are not interested in the extra information and it is there, they can just ignore it, but if they are interested and it was left out, it can't count in your favour, so add anything that you think could possibly contribute. 😊

Hey! They use your grade 11 marks if you are applying directly after school, so if you want them to use your matric results you will either have to take a gap year or, and I definitely recommend this, you can start studying BSc. I feel this is a better option because you can reapply from BSc and then they use your matric results as well as your results from your first year BSc, which is similar enough to first year vet that you can then simply continue with second year vet if you get in 😊 you can either study BSc Animal Science, Biological Science or Zoology, I hope this helps!

You should have proof, otherwise they can easily discredit it, but if you don't have a certificate or something official, you can always just write a declaration stating that you were in a leadership position for this event or activity etc. and then have it signed by anyone who worked at the organization. E.g. If you were leader of the chess club at school, write up a declaration stating that and take it to school to have a teacher sign it, and if they are willing you can add their contact details as a reference; as far as I know none of my references were contacted but rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Hey! The university isn't very interested by the amount of hours that you put in, they care more about what you do with those hours, so e.g. on the VAF they ask you what your experience with cattle is and they give you options like none, observed, worked with, lived with, etc., so if you spent 6 hours observing cattle, it will count less than if you spent one hour working with cattle I am not sure what the exact numbers are around admitting transferring students, but it depends on what your university marks are at the course that you are currently doing I hope this helped a bit 😊
