How I Installed the Harbor Freight 68244 Automatic Compressor Drain Kit on my Air Compressor
In this Video, I’ll be installing the Harbor Freight Automatic Compressor Drain kit on my air compressor tank. It’s critical to perform regular maintenance on your air compressor to avoid a potentially deadly explosion.
An air compressor uses an air compressor pressure switch to start and stop. Air compressor switch adjustment should only be performed by trained professionals. In this video you’ll see my air compressor working. Air compressor repair and air compressor setup is something I think I would like to do in my spare time. An air compressor for detailing cars would be cool to have, but an air compressor not building pressure could be aggravating. An air compressor paint sprayer can be used to paint your car. Regular air compressor maintenance such as air compressor oil change, and cleaning out your air compressor water separator is a good idea to keep it making the proper air compressor sound.

I am in the same situation as you. I bought this kit when HF still sold it, and like you see it is no longer sold. I plan on installing my kit on my compressor ( 60 gallon vert just like yours) very soon. Like you, i planned on using copper tube for the install. Yours was a very well executed install that i intend to copy as much as possible. You have lived with this now for a while. Can you give a progress report on how this is holding up? Thanks for the video, i think it is going to help me greatly with my installation.

So far it's done really well. After reading your comment, I cracked open the manual valve underneath the automatic valve, and only a few drops came out. The unit doesn't run a lot, just cycles on and off occasionally as I use the air. I'm only in the shop for a few hours a week, so it doesn't get as much use as one in a busy shop. How is this valve going to work if your constantly using the compressor? Wouldn't an electric automatic valve be better?

The valve actuates when the compressor starts and builds pressure on the unloader line. It discharges a small burst of air (and condensate water). When the compressor stops and the unloader line depressurizes, the valve returns to its original position discharging another burst of air and water. This may or may not be enough discharge time if the compressor is in constant use. Electronic valves would work fine as well. Thanks for watching!
