How I'm Turning Fear of Success Into a Strength

I often question whether the discomfort of openly being myself and celebrating my big wins was tied to the fear of failure or success. Watching @HINDZ show up as he does, with his cool vibe, sipping tea, and just being...triggered something in me that I wanted to share with you in this video.
Here's the irony; I take risks. I don't have a problem with that, so I'm wondering whether my issue is the fear of success? The discomfort of celebrating my wins has kept me small. It has taken me a long time to observe, realize and understand that this is possibly one of the most self-destructive (or maybe self-soothing?) behavior patterns I have had.
Do you fear success or the discomfort that comes with celebrating your wins? Do you feel greedy for wanting more and not supported by those around you who have settled for less? These fears have held me back in many ways, and I have been observing and releasing them to move forward in my life. That's why I'm sharing these observations with you, hoping they help you live fully too.
The Baobab Experience is no longer active. See below for ways to work with me.
To your success,
Doreca Delbridge [Ms. Dory Linda]

✨✨What's your take on this? *Which is worse, fear of failure or fear of success? Which one have you struggled with the most?* Let me know below. ✨

I struggle a lot with both, actually. For me, I think the fear of success comes from a place of what if I succeed and it’s not what I thought it would be. Then, I would prove everyone telling me it’s a bad idea right. Same with failure, I’d prove everyone telling me I can’t do it right. Both fears can hold you back and are equally difficult I feel. I’m trying not to let these fears hold me back too much, though.

So good you're not allowing them to hold you back. Can you share how you're monitoring to ensure you're plugging in and pushing forward?

I can relate a lot to always being the support and being uncomfortable with the spotlight, as well.

@@MsDoryLinda I just like to challenge myself daily by doing things that scare me or that I’ve been putting off (likely due to fear). Did I answer your question?

Yes! Fear of success is a real thing. Many suffer from this! “Look how amazing I helped this person become!” That part...

I feel this so much. I've been trying to start a blog or KZfaq channel for years and sometimes it's not about failure but rather the fear that if it becomes successful I will have to continue and stay consistent, creating imaginary pressure.

I know what you mean. I had those same thoughts about starting a membership. I know I already show up anyway with my clients, so why would this be any different? Crazy how thoughts like this can hold us back for so long. I threw caution to the wind and went for it anyway. I'm glad I did.

This! >> the imaginary pressure is real. I also have strong desires to start my own KZfaq. Hell, I technically made one but I haven’t uploaded any content because I’m overwhelmed that I will have to stay consistent and I doubt my ability to do that

I am an INFP-T and the way you broke this down makes so much sense for me. I can share concepts that I’ve discovered easily but praising my growth is awkward for me. Especially when receiving that praise from someone else. Like I will almost deflect the compliment to ask them about their accomplishments too.

Yes!! I do that too ALL THE TIME!! Now I observe myself doing it and I wrap it up the celebrate me too. That way I don't feel like I left someone else out of acknowledgement but I also didn't downplay or water down my accomplishments either!! You know!

Hey Dory ,Thank you for sharing this with us. something to ponder on: I once heard someone say "there's no such thing as fear of success because all parts of you want you to succeed, no part of you wants to see you fail." The thing with fear is that it should be used for its purpose. Its purpose is to protect you, to alert you to the dangers you might face. A technique of using your fear to understand what is going on would be sitting in a place of solitude or meditation and ask that fear what it is trying to communicate to you. We should try to reconcile the parts of us that try to limit us through fear and anxiety so that each part of us can work together in harmony to accomplish whatever it is we want. Understanding what your fear is trying to protect you from is the first step. btw I love HINDZ channel too :) Lots of Love to you, thank you for sharing your journey with us.

Thank you for the reframe. What you're describing is pretty much my process and what I teach in my programs as well. As I shared in the video, subconsciously I just didn't want to face what I'd observed someone close to me face when it came to sucess. The purpose was to protect me from that pain. The shift, or as you've put it, the reconciling part came after 'seeing' the situation from a different perspective. I'm very grateful for this season. I'm glad you enjoy Hindz content as well 😊

I just love your honesty and authenticity. I struggle with fear of success because of the same negative energy from others, it closes me down every time I hit my own personal ceiling. As an empath I feel it all & that envy has been a constant in my life so it's exhausting. But I am getting help to overcome that subconscious dialogue & hopefully sooner than later allow my light to shine. Love the purple robe, & yes this was helpful! 💯🌻

I think that mirrors are very important. We all can improve in some way and that anger or judgment that comes up definitely shows where we feel unworthy or stuck. Also as women I think sometimes we especially feel the need to perform here on youtube making an aesthetically pleasing display but that's not how it works all the time. I'm really just trying to do my own thing on youtube because chasing analytics and popularity really burned me out. Plus the people you get to the channel (or your life) when you're being you will most likely actually want to be there.

Yes 💯!! And attracting the right people allows us to continue to grow in our authenticity 🌟 It's hard to burn out when we're being ourselves, moving at at pace and rhythm that's our own. I appreciate you Toni and thank you for sharing this insight. ❤

Fear of Success for sure, but it's subsiding. My all time favorite quote: Our Deepest Fear By Marianne Williamson Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness That most frightens us. We ask ourselves Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small Does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking So that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, As children do. We were born to make manifest The glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; It's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others.

I think we can be in a place lacking success so long that it becomes our comfort zone. I can be so busy worrying about the next bad thing or sitting in disappointment and under achievement that I have a problem fully pursuing successful thoughts. My reality is under achievement and my dream is success. I want success but there is some anxiety of what is on the other side and will it be what I expected.

I hear you. What usually encourage me on is to ask, do I get those answers where I am or can I decide whether I like it or not once I have context to actually base a decision on? You know!! What would you rather? Stay with what you know, or venture and then decide whether it's what you want or not?
