In this video, I show how I made a plaid cutting board. It's about 20" x 15" x 1.5" and it's made from walnut, ash, cherry, and padauk with end grain walnut and ash strips in between these pieces. There are a lot of glue-ups and it's important to keep everything aligned during each glue-up, but it's pretty straightforward otherwise.
You can find everything else I used in this project at my Amazon storefront at www.amazon.com/shop/woodumakeit.

I'm new to woodworking, and I'm quite a bit in awe after watching this. I'm not ready by a long shot to make anything like it, but I'd love to be able to. I'm saving for a larger shed that I can turn into a shop, then my next purchase will be a sawstop. I'm just looking to have a small shop, though. I own a lot of hand tools, but as it is now, the only tools I have that I saw you use were the miter saw and random orbital sander. I can't do everything you're doing, but I love watching the process as you do it.

Sawstop is a great tablesaw. Save your fingers by being careful and safety aware whenever you work with tools that have sharp edges. Spend the money you save on not getting the Sawstop on a good drum sander. Woodworking involves a LOT of sanding! Best of luck.

I really appreciate channels like yours where you're creating beautiful, professional pieces in a shop that seems designed for building things. You obviously have some nice equipment mixed in but it's nice to also see some tools like the Delta miter saw and lunchbox planer in there. Content that focuses on the art of building something rather than one big Festool & Sawstop ad. Love the videos I've learned a lot from you !
@Woodumakeit
@Woodumakeit 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes, I try to be practical when acquiring tools and try not to go overboard with spending. For example, I use my miter saw primarily for rough cutting lumber, so I prioritized space saving vs. precision and that helped keep the cost down.

@@oldhess I spent more than that on my CNC, but worth every penny I spent. Mine also has included a verticle workstation for working on the ends of pieces, and a turning center that does not mount on the table top, but is on the side of table - 10" diameter x 50" long capability.
