Hals Wood Shop Well Done. Thanks for posting this project. I hope many viewers ---26,000-- might be also surprized that you made the precise cuts and bandsaw cuts with a Shopsmiith. Usually that gets criticism, being an owner of my second SS my friends are impressed what it can do.

Artisan indeed! I am intrigued by the sled you made for your planner not having a jointer at your disposal. I have a jointer, but having been a submarine sailor where fabrication of what you need is a way of life underway, I am interested what parameters dictated how you built the sled? Thanks!

Thank you. I never considered the parameters of why I built it that way. I suppose it was just that I needed it to hold the board perpendicular to the table and be secure.

No soaking required if you cut them thin. Just good clamps and wait 12 hours or more.

@@theredtruckwoodshop2722 may I ask what how thin you cut them at ? thank you.
@theredtruckwoodshop2722
@theredtruckwoodshop2722 3 жыл бұрын
@@jarin8464 I cut them to match the kerf of the bandsaw blade I was using. Each blade is different so you need to measure you kerf by cutting a short slot in a scrap piece and measuring it. The idea is the thin strip you cut will fit in the slot perfectly and “replace” what you cut out with the band saw. Mine were about 1/8” thick.

Hello I was wondering if you could do the same thing but with the same type of wood just stained? I want to make a cribbage board with that type of design.
@theredtruckwoodshop2722
@theredtruckwoodshop2722 Жыл бұрын
I guess that depends on the glue you use & how you do it. You would have to stain the wood before gluing to get the color variation with crisp lines. This may also mean staining the glue surfaces so the lines are clean. I have not tried to glue stained wood together. The oil in the stain may not let the glue adhere to it. If I were to try it, I would let the stain dry at least a week before I glued it. For your proposed project it may work. Thanks for watching.
@theredtruckwoodshop2722
@theredtruckwoodshop2722 Жыл бұрын
Now that I think about it, even if the glue holds, if you sand it the stain will come off. I can’t imagine staining it after you glue it and sand it.

Beautiful board! I really like the pattern of it! The only thing I have to ask is that you please not use gloves around the power tools, the blade will catch on the fabric and actually pull you further into the blade, making the accident worse
