In today's Disney video I am sharing how I plan a trip to Disney World. I typically start planning a trip to Disney AT LEAST 6 months in advance and I'll explain why in the video. I will also be sharing our 2017 Disney dining reservations as well as our Fastpasses.
I've been asked a lot for a Disney planning video and this is a very basic way to show you guys that! I hope it's helpful!

I absolutely love Soarin'. I think it's my favorite, but I have so many other rides I love too........Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, It's a Small World, Rockin' Rollercoaster, and the Safari ride. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. I am also a big fan of the Living with the Land ride. I think it gives us a little relaxing break after we've walked all day. My three biggest boys haven't found a ride they don't love. They used to be scared of some rides, but last year they wanted to do it all! It's so much fun now that they've gotten a little older! I can't wait for January! I'm starting my preliminary planning now! Lol!

Soarin is a family favorite. We all absolutely love that ride and it's so nice when everyone can enjoy a ride together. Sometimes due to various ages and interests we need to split up as a family.

Have you been to Soarin' since they updated it? It's amazing! I also really like the water fountains that jump around at Epcot. The kids love splashing each other with them!

+aplacetonest Yes! It was closed January 2016, but it was open this year! We absolutely loved it!! We love the fountains, too! Epcot is our favorite out of all the parks.

As a Florida Resident with Annual Passes I find this video interesting. I have never thought about how others book their trips and make reservations etc. We rarely book a hotel more than 30 days in advance and never make reservations for the restaurants. We also tend to stay for shorter periods of time (3 or 4 days at the most). We either do quick service or leave the property for food. Sometimes we will make sandwiches for the parks and we always bring water and snacks. We do have the Landry's card so if we want to splurge we tend to go to T-Rex. Fast Passes are strange with how they are done. You can sign in to book an attraction and the time is undesirable. A few hours later you can sign back in and find a fast pass for an earlier time that is much more desirable. We have never had issues with fast passes unless we try to get them the day of.

Favourite ride of all Disney is Expedition everest. I love magic kingdom, I will never forget the first time I went threre, it was 2 years ago and I cried, I couldn't leave. the feeling while walking down main street overwhelmed me, the magic hits you hard. I am a bit of a thrill seeker, the best ride for that is rockin roller coaster. we always try and get a visit to Universal as the rides are more thrilling! tower of terror really terrifies me tho, I'll ride it but I always get so nervous before. Love space mountain too.

Rockin Rollercoaster is my favorite rollercoaster but I don't ride it any more because of my health issues. I miss it though!

I totally love Living with the Land too! But my favourite ride(s)- because I can't pick- are Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates.

I live in Florida, about 1.5 hours away from Disney! I’m super excited we just purchased weekday select annual passes for FL residents! My kiddos are super excited too!!! My kids have only been to Disney a couple of times because it’s so expensive and my husband isn’t fond of the crowds. My favorite ride is Big Thunder Mountain and Soarin’!!! But, I think Avatar Flight of Passage will be my new fav! We will see. We’re going this week.

Well now that you have annual passes, maybe you can go during times that aren't so busy so your husband won't be annoyed by the crowds! :) Avatar was going to open the week after we left in 2017 so we are excited to ride those things this year! I hope you have a great time! :)

Thanks!!! Make sure if your staying on Disney property that you book Avatar 90 days in advance. The wait times for that are a good 4 hrs. There are never any FP available for this one because people who stay in Disney resorts snatch them up. So do the same! 😉😉😉

My favorite "ride" is the People Mover! :) I love Magic Kingdom, but I don't really do rides...I just love the view of the castle and overlooking Tomorrowland during that one! :)

My daughter and i will be going to Disney World July 2018 for the first time..just the two of us. We live near disneyLAND so a go there often. I’m so happy i found your videos! But it’s also still confusing haha Thank you for sharing all your tips!

You guys are going to have an amazing time! I hear that Disney World is so much bigger and better than Disneyland but it definitely takes some planning. . For me, that's part of the fun though. My favorite ride is the PeopleMover. I also enjoy Soarin', (both new and old version) and the roller coasters. Though I don't like Space Mountain.

LOL. I still call Hollywood Studios MGM and "Disney Springs" will always be "Pleasure Island" to me. Have you ever been there? It was so amazing. I would love to have one more night at the Adventurers Club.

I have seen Pleasure Island but we never went there to eat or anything. Yes, Hollwood Studios will always be MGM to me. :) I am very excited for Toy Story Land to open there!

We went to Disney a year ago and Space Ship Earth still gives me panic attacks. I had a bad claustrophobic attack while in that ride. And I still get flashbacks of that if I"m in a confined space like the shower.

Thank you so much for all this information. My family and I are planning our first Disney vacation and we are really excited but overwhelmed as we don’t even know where to start in our planning process. If you don’t mind me asking , how much would you say you spend on your total vacation, or what is a good budget we should expect to be around when planning this vacation?

We have four people but one of our kids is considered an "adult" in Disney's eyes so we have to pay more for her than we do our youngest child. We stay at a moderate resort and get park hoppers and our trip is about $4500 + food and gas. It's so hard to tell you what to plan for because a lot of your cost depends on when you go, what resort you stay in, if you choose park hoppers or just single-day park tickets, etc. I would start out by calling Disney and telling them about your family and they are always really helpful when it comes to planning a trip that works with your budget. Also, check mousesavers.com because they always post any discounts or coupon codes that you could apply to your trip. I hope that helps!

I must be honest and tell you my favorite is Epcot. I like The Magic Kingdom but I'm not a "ride" person. Unfortunately I get very sick on most rides so I'm not a huge fan of Magic Kingdom. I can ride Its a Small World and rides like that with no problem but anything faster than that I'm going to puke and feel horrible the entire day. Most all the rides at Epcot go 2 mph so I guess that's why I enjoy Epcot more. I do however love walking around Magic Kingdom and going into the shops and things like that. We haven't been to Disney in about 5-6 years. I think it's time to start planning a trip. Your video was extremely helpful since it's been so long since we have been and things have changed. We have always stayed at the contemporary resort and have always loved staying there especially since the monorail is in the lobby of the hotel, Lol it's very conveniently located also. We stopped going to Disney because of the crowds. Myself and my husband do not like very over crowded parks and it got to where Disney was just not enjoyable to us because of that. I suppose if we went in January or February it would be more enjoyable to us. Sorry my comment has been my life story! Lol have a wonderful day Becky and again thank you for sharing your tips. 😀❤️👍🏼

I think that Epcot kind of grows on you after time. At first my kids had no interest in Epcot but after including it as a two day visit on every trip we all now love it. Soarin is our favorite ride of all the Disney Parks. We are staying at the Contemporary for the first time this year. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it there.

Over the years I have grown to love Epcot more and more and Magic Kingdom less and less. Magic Kingdom definitely has the most ride selection but it's just too spread out and a lot of the areas are really hot and crowded in the daytime. I love Magic Kingdom at night though. Since you stay on Disney property, just make sure you're taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours so you can avoid some of the heavier crowds. I love when a park stays open late...we always shut it down! Lol

Jens Happy Home you will love staying there! As a matter of fact it spoils you and you probably will never stay anywhere else. Lol the monorail in the lobby of the hotel is what we love. You can hop on it and go to the MK or Epcot. No need to find parking ,walk miles to the entrance or stand in long lines to get into the park. The monorail will deliver you back to your hotel after you are done at the parks. We love staying at the contemporary. I believe the monorail picks you up at other Disney Resorts but I think the Contemporary is the only Resort where the Monorail is actually in the hotel lobby. Hope you and your family have a wonderful trip and be safe!!

No, I've never been to the waterparks. I'm afraid of water and don't swim very well so I tend to stay away from water. :)

One day I will go to Disney world and I will be prepared! How do you know how much time to schedule between rides? I'm really curious which breads are designated to which provinces at the Canadian restaurant!? I live in Canada and we don't have regional bread. If I were to guess though maybe Saskatchewan would have wheat bread since thats where the majority of wheat is grown. Is Bannock one of them for NWT Or Nunavet?

I only wear my tennis shoes. I see people wearing flip flops or high heels and that would KILL my feet! I wear Brooks running shoes and I wear them every day at the parks.

What days do you normally go in May? Is it crowded or are the crowds decent?

It varies depending on when my husband can get off work. Crowds are usually pretty light but just make sure you see when the National Cheerleading Competition will be there because that adds a lot of people to the resorts and the parks.

You mention that you order from the kid's menu-do they hassle you for that at all? When i got to be an older kid and we were still going to disney annually, they gave me a hassle eating off the kid's menu (that was the late 90's though). I am still kinda picky, and also have a medical issue that makes it hard for me to eat large quantities, so I was thinking teh kids menu woudl still begood for me (esp since carrying a doggy bag of food around teh park isnt really a good idea). I was looking at teh stuff they have on teh kids menu, and alot looks quite good!

No, I have never had any trouble ordering from the kids' menu. I am very picky as well and I don't want or need a huge adult's portion so I almost always order from the kids menu...even here at home. I hope that helps! :)

How much would you say you spent on dining for that trip? Planning a trip for 2018 and it will be our first time not doing the dining plan cause all three of my kids are now Disney adults. It wouldn't be worth it to pay for all adults. Just curious.

We have 3 adults (since our oldest is considered that) and a child and we spend about $1000. We eat a mixture of table service and counter services and I often eat off of the kids menu because I like the smaller portions. I hope that helps!

No, not at all! You are welcome to visit any of the Disney resorts and Disney Springs without a ticket or anything. It's really fun to visit the other resorts and shop at Disney Springs! We do it all the time!

I am curious, what causes you to have the urge to be so overly clean and healthy? i understand being clean and eating healthy but you seem to be almost compulsive about it, I in no way wish to make you feel bad for being who you are, I'm a psychology major in my undergrad and id like to know about where it stems from, if you know. i love your videos I'm a big disney fanatic as well.
