A guide on how I go about painting Dun horses. This is the third video I have on speed painting horses. Anything to get them finished quicker lol.

Excellent tutorial mate,nice to see a tutorial on different colour horses rather than white,grey or dark brown,black
@leont66wargaming31 Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I’m doing white next lol. However after that I’m going to do grey but with dappling. Then a lighter Dun or thorn coloured horse. Might do light grey with dappled effect as a final one. Depends how the others do lol.

Thanks buddy. I’ve got a few more coming up. If like me you’re after a few different horse colours in your regiments/units.

I'm a bit late to the party here, but as others have said, thank you for such a great video. Generally speaking I absolutely hate painting Napoleonic cavalry (specifically the horses). The horses just never seem to come out looking "right". Your color selection/technique is one of the first I've used that's quick, easy, nice looking, and not a pain to clean up (looking at you, oils). Again, thanks!

Thanks Paul. Yes I hate painting cavalry as well. So decided to try some quick techniques. Luckily they worked out lol. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊

Nice work Leon and thanks for this tutorial! This gives me a much needed variation in my horse colours - from the usual bay, grey and chestnuts. I will try using the Foundry Palomino triad with a slight variation. Those Uhlans look great!
@leont66wargaming31 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Andy. I have a few more horse colour guides coming up as i work through all this cavalry. Yes the foundry triads are great and should work well. The only reason i don’t have foundry paints, is ease of purchase. Nobody near me sells them and i don’t want to pay postage every time i buy some lol
@andrewwilson4975 Жыл бұрын
@@leont66wargaming31 I hear that. I picked them up at Historicon from Badger games who are out of Wisconsin. I have their Bay, Chestnut and Palomino triads for horses. I use the thin layered approach which takes longer but gives me the results I am looking for. Again your tutorial here is great and looking forward to the others! Cheers mate!

Yeah, the Army Painter washes tend to dry shiny. Like a shellac level of shine.

Its annoying isn’t it. When I first started using them, this was never an issue. Just over the last couple of years

Great tutorial as always Leon. I had the same problem with AP strong tone and I came up with a different solution. Agrax Earthshade. 😉
@leont66wargaming31 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jim. I tried that same solution lol. Ended up with 2 bottles of Agrax that were shiny. 🤷🏻🤦🏻. Took them back to GW and swapped them. The new ones were shiny too 😆. So gave up and went with the mat medium
@maryhinge6334 Жыл бұрын
That’s disappointing. Hopefully that was just a dodgy batch. 🤞

Back to the bigger scales tonight Leon, great miniatures. Leon go to your art shop and buy artists matt medium it is much cheaper as the quantities are more.

Thanks buddy. Yes I’ll have to go next day off. Running out of the Vallejo one, so I do need more
@Rusty_Gold85 Жыл бұрын
Second that ! Its the same stuff anyway ! And grab some dropper bottles off the net to squeeze the medium to drop into the paint ( the army painter ones are too expensive )
@leont66wargaming31 Жыл бұрын
Cool. Ive got a few spare dropper bottles. Nice one
