I agree with all of this. Great vid! I braid every night. I spritz every few-ish days. Funny thing is one reason I got sisterlocks is because I wanted to be able to wash my hair as often as I want. Now it’s a minimum of every two weeks. I limit how often I get my hair soaking wet and it makes a difference in fuzziness and bunching.

I've had my sisterlocks for 12 years. There is one moisturizing spray I use that helps decrease frizz, moisturizes my hair, doesn't cause build up and it has very good ingredients. I especially use it when I have rolled my locs and I want to moisturize my hair while preserving my curls. I guess that is where the "hold" comes in. My curls stay put, but it does not leave any "feeling " like there is product in my hair. It is Shea moisture's coconut and hibiscus hold and shine moisture mist. It is truly one of the best products I have found for my sisterlocks. I've not come across anything else like it. It moisturizes but does not make my hair feel damp. It dries quickly. The label says it provides "shine".......i would say "not". But that's ok, I dont need that. I'm super picky about what I use on my hair.

Yasss that's what I like to hear! 😂 and of course be nice and gentle to those edges! 👌🏽 So, you can spray occasionally only when you really need to and if your loctician says it's ok (some locticians don't want you to spray at all! 😨). Thank you so much for hopping over and subscribing to my channel by the way. Means a lot 🥰

Thank you so much! I've been sitting wondering what's wrong with my sisterlocks. They look horrible at the ends! Braiding, I will try braiding them every night. However, my scalp is so sensitive that it hurts when I pull my hair together like that even though it's very very slack at the roots.
@GeorgiaZarita
@GeorgiaZarita 4 жыл бұрын
Im sure they don't look horrible! 😅 maybe try to braid only the end section of your locks - like past half way down? Hopefully its loose enough to save your scalp but still get those ends on a stretch! 😊

I do 8 total twists nightly vs braids as braids are hard to get out. I just started my journey and have to ensure I am not spritzing, it’s like I’m fighting my product junky days, once a week spritzing only, it’s hard!! You and your hair are lovely!!

Yes, getting sisterlocks is a way to make your natural hair more manageable. Make sure you do as much research as possible beforehand so you don't get any surprises along the way! I wish you all the best in your decision! 👍🏼

Is the whole daily braiding thing advised for new SL only 6 months old?
@GeorgiaZarita
@GeorgiaZarita 4 жыл бұрын
There's a very small chance that your 6 m/o braids will happily start coming together so soon but there's no harm in starting early I guess! Just gradually increase the amount of days you braid per week and see how your hair responds. You can also try protective styles that you don't have to take down the next morning. This will help to stretch your hair without fussing with it too much. Hope this helps!

Hey Thank you for your video! I'm a newbie, 6 weeks. I relate, I overspray with water once a day. Plus I have dandruff/itchy scalp. I told my loctician but she says don't worry itching will go away. Do you have a dandruff video? I feel like my interlocks and ends get loose sooner cause of itching and washing often.
@GeorgiaZarita
@GeorgiaZarita 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you and congrats! Welcome to the gang haha. It is true the itching does reduce over time on its own but if its unbearable then you should find a solution because constantly scratching your scalp will irritate it more. You will have to manage the dandruff with dandruff shampoos or essential oils etc. and washing too often (and over spraying) will definitely slow your progress! So try your best to reduce the moisture in your hair (less contact with water) and definitely find a solution for your dandruff/itching! Also I have a video on my channel about the sisterlock dandruff shampoo if you wanted to watch :) I hope this helps! X

So if you don’t spritz the hair after taking the braids out in the morning , how do you not leave the house with the lines/ parting showing and the locks sticking stiffly straight out of the head?😳😁
@GeorgiaZarita
@GeorgiaZarita 4 жыл бұрын
Thats why I say "if you can restrain yourself" haha because I know it will be difficult to style without water. I suggest braiding your hair into the style you want the night before so in the morning the hair is pointing in the right direction. You can run your fingers through your hair to tease your locks into the right position and to cover up the partings but ultimately your hairstyle probably won't look as great without water. If you really want your ends to seal up asap then I'd suggest only using water when your hair is feeling extra dry but if your hair feels fairly normal and happy then for this specific "frizz taming" stage, I'd suggest no water. I hope this helps! 😊

I started my locs myself. I know it's not recommended but I am a licensed cosmetologist/Barber and I just can't make the financial commitment. But I love them so I'm doing as much research as possible.... My only question is. Is it best to secure them once they're established? Or wear them down?

@GeorgiaZarita

Hello there! I usually do a braid out to do tiny little curls or perm rods to do bigger curls. Sisterlocks almost always shrink after install. You'll need to stretch you hair by braiding or using protective styles to reduce shrinkage

@@GeorgiaZarita hello! :) sorry it’s been a year since I’ve replied but it’s been a year now or more since I’ve had my hair In. Why is it like not lying down? It’s like a Afro kinda thing. The back of my hair is locked properly but then the front is like puffy
@GeorgiaZarita
@GeorgiaZarita 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Sometimes when the loc is too light it tends to stand up a bit. This will resolve itself in time as your hair grows and matures it become heavier and will lay flat. There could be a number of reasons why your sisterlocks are maturing at different rates, from different hair textures across your head to the position you sleep in at night, so don't worry too much about the back locking a little faster than the front. I think as long as you see a general progression of your sisterlocks over the months then it should be fine 😊
