That is actually very interesting what you have said but the story behind the dementors is different. They were "in theory" created by other Dark Wizard in 15th Century but as i remember so far, that was never confirmed - it was only said that he practised the worst of Dark Magic and that he was the original inhabitant of the fortress of Azkaban where dementors where able to feed on humans since he lured people there.

It is clear to me that magic works like physics do in the muggle world meaning that not everything is written in stone and there are fields that have yet to be understood. Starting from Lily's protection to harry. Her sacrifice activated a form of magic that was unknown. Voldemort stretched dark magic beyond what was known. The house elves wield magic that is different from wizards' magic, and goblins also have a different type of magical power. So ancient magic isn't a far stretch. Also, it makes a lot of sense that that's how dementor came to be. A dark wizard toying around with pain and human emotion for power. Isadora took people's pain for a good cause, but a dark wizard may want to take people's happiness thus leaving a human with only pain and suffering inside of them. That fits the schematics of a dementor's nature. Feeding on other's happiness.

Finally the last pensive shows that the professors want to get rid of isadora because they are against the use of ancient Magic so they attack her and kill her. It is incredibly possible that the first pensive the professors show is heavily altered to make the keepers look good and cause the main character to distrust isadora. They said "things are not what they seem," implying there is more to the pensive than what was perceived. Why would the keepers the keepers keep this information? Because it makes them look bad and power conservative, they only cared about cultivating the power within themselves and were selfish that's why they wanted to keep the power for themselves.

I did this quest right after the one where Sebastian kills his uncle, so having just told Sebastian no one should know the killing curse I then had an example where I couldn’t help but excuse the use of it. Was an interesting juxtaposition.

I completely agree, I haven't seen another story that depicted the ability to take someones pain away, not temporarily, permanently. And then show that as the evil and selfish act that it is, one that disregards a person's trauma and pain as if it is simply a flaw in a person. Her father's grief shows his love for his son, and he may one day heal and feel powerful joy again naturally, and even if he doesn't ever recover from that loss, that is his decision, not anyone elses.

Also I believe her Dad is also at fault for the path Isidora took. She is responsible for her actions but it was also in part the absolute neglect her father showed after the death of his son that drove her to that point. He had the right to be sad and to grieve but he literally never spoke again to HIS OTHER CHILD. That is being a failure as a parent, as not only is he giving up and isolating himself from his daughter (and in turn depriving her of a general role model) but he is also the figure that's supposed to show a young Isidora that no matter the pain, they can move on. It was thanks to his failure to move on that Isidora saw pain as an absolute inescapable force that has to be literally exterminated instead of naturally overcoming it.

There are lessons to be learned from our pain. It’s how we grow and become stronger. It helps define us. To take that away is to erase a part of yourself for good. But the story is set in 18th century if I am correct. And back then that name was not rare. Also Isidora doesn't have any bad connotations. The name means a gift of Isis (she was a goddess of death but she also knew all about herbs and could cure any illness).

I think back that time, the unforgivable curses weren't considered unforgivable, though I agree with you.

Back in those times there was no concept of an Unforgivable Curse. The Keepers lived in the late Medieval Era during the reign of the Tudors. 1717 was the year they were classified as 'Unforgivable' and the penalty of life without parole in Azkaban was applied. I find it weird that this game offers no consequences except for other characters making some kind of remark for using the Unforgivable Curses and that Sebastian ends up being the only character who can possibly face legal consequences. As for San Bakar using the Killing Curse in the moment he did... it was one of those rare occasions where I think it was warranted. Isidora had absorbed so much power that the four of them combined were no match for her conventionally. I can't see any other way they could have put a stop to her. There have been times where limited use of the Unforgivable Curses has been permitted, like when the Ministry authorized the Aurors to use them during the First Wizarding War.

I was watching this for the first time with my friends, and when they were locked in a duel with OP Isidora, I said out loud "I would use avada kedavra." And in three seconds, the professor Gigachad Bakhar said "AVADA KEDAVRA!" I lost it, that's how dark wizards are defeated!

I thought of Solomon as well in this scene, but Solomon was a hypocrite because he used the dark arts. He didn’t teach Sebastian why he should be concerned with wielding them, he just took out his anger towards their parents on Sebastian. San Bakar didn’t use the spell because he was going on a genocidal rampage, he did it to stop a very evil individual. Isidora is a terrifying person because she is doing something terrible and convinced herself it was a very good thing, she doesn’t see the harm she is causing, or is in complete denial of the inconvenient truth.

My money is on San, not cause he was a Slytherin but because he was the most reluctant to show memories, he used AK(tho it wasn't unforgivable then) and why would he go to see Isidora ALONE? Maybe he wanted to discuss something personal. And it's also stated Niamh died an untimely death. Feels to me like sb killed her after she was injured here.

Pain is the reaction to the body taking damage. Basically the brain say's "Stop doing that or you will die!" A simple survival instinct programmed into us by evolution.

Exactly. Isidora was performing this magic on people who should not be able to consent: Muggles(her dad), and students. Add insult to injury, this was a form of magic that was for all intents and purposes, still in the unpredictable testing phase. So if something goes wrong, she should absolutely bear the full brunt of the responsibility of whatever damage she causes.

They did tell her to stop. Several times. They thought she did. But no, they ended up discovering (way too late) that she was far beyond salvation. Even so, Percival attempted to dissarm her. She was overpowering 2 ancient magic users. The killing curse was the only way out.

She was still traumatized by the death of her brother and the depression of her father. She thought that she could "heal the world" by just removing sadness and grief. But, one of the central themes of the Harry Potter franchise is that *magic cannot fix everything.* The same way that Voldemort was obsessed with trying to run away from Death, Isidora refused to live in a world where people had to feel pain, despite how natural both of those things are.

It was “ uncle” actually Sebastian and His sister parents died early.

To Avada Kedavra to work you have to mean and fully understand what murder is. And still wish it upon someone. I like Sebastian's character more than any other in the game, but c'mon he is not innocent. Or then developers misunderstood the spell. It literally damages your soul to use it.

I think it also helps that he's the only one who actually saw what happened to Isidora's Father. And finding out that she was doing the same thing to the students? That's the point of no return. How exactly would the teachers explain this to the parents when their children come home acting like zombies?

Yep, Isidora was obviously in pain and she reflected the pain she was feeling on to others. In her view, she was helping others by making them not feel the emotional pain she was experiencing but it also resulted in her ignoring the harm she was doing to the people as she slowly strips away their emotions. The Professors did think they were helping Isidora by giving her these powers but they did not realize it was not power that she needed to fix her personal problems. It was others being there for her and helping her understand the pain she was feeling was part of her life.

@@orrthehunter I might have a very unpopular opinion here, though I will admit that that my opinion is skewed due to my own life experiences and struggles so take what I'm going to say with several cups of salt.... I kinda agree with Isidora, the only evil thing she did was force her magic technique on others without permission, but in my heavily skewed opinion what she is doing is amazing and it could generate a net positive from negativity.

If she set a limit to how many time she can use this Ancient Magic to extract negative emotions so that a person does not enter a vegetable state due to losing all emotions then the professors may not have acted so negatively to her actions. However, she did not consider this either because she intentionally ignored it or was unaware of this effect due to not seeing it happen (maybe due to how it may not be apparent until a certain amount of time after she last extraction on her father). There was also signs she may have been becoming addicted to the negative emotions like a drug since she needed to absorb the negative emotions to continue using this Ancient Magic. That can also be very dangerous since we don't really know how emotional a person may become if they are constantly affected by negative emotion energy in the long term. There is a lot of questions about this Ancient Magic but sadly this game does not fully explore it due to wanting to keep Ancient Magic mostly unknown like all Harry Potter contents does with Ancient Magic.

They just butchered the writing and went with: «She went mad with power». In my opinion both Isidora and The keepers are bad and corrupt. Isidora started with good intentions, but the power corrupted her. The keepers wanted to keep their power to themselves and ignored everyones problem around them. At least she tried to do something, while the the keepers was corrupted by their status.

Exactly. At that point, Isidora was beyond reasoning with. The other Keepers had been warning her for years to not do this, and she didn't listen. And look what happened to her father, he ended up worse off than when he started. The simple bottom line is, like Professor Rackham said, it's not her pain to take.

Indeed, for it dived upon how she started on her path to a misguided and broken mindset. Unfortunately, as we’ve learned early on in the Harry Potter series, magic can’t fix or cure everything. Even magic has it’s limits. Something she couldn’t accept or figure out sadly.

As well as the one where they tell her that she's a witch with a rare ability and she has this look on her face that just says evil, and her sorting.
