This narrative of this video gives the idea he had a failed career only because he did not achieve the same level as Ronaldo which apart from Messi nobody achieved. Nevertheless, he is a ballon d'or nominee and a man utd player of the year. He had a great career and for a short period of time was one of the best players in the world.

Yeah he had a few good seasons but I don't think he was ever the best player in the world.. I rate prime Rooney better at man unt from a teenager he was different class.. surez was better and played in a weaker team than man unt Gerrard was also better from a young boy to then captain of Liverpool winning uefa cup champions League and someone that was a leader could assist tackle had amazing range of passing and also could score and assist goals and Liverpool were a weaker side than AC Milan Chelsea and man unt .. Chelsea offered him crazy money alot bigger salary but he chose to stay at his boyhood club..Nani a good player has world class players around him and strikers so even a bad cross into the box guy like van persie Rudd van nistelrooy Rooney would score was playing with Paul scholes Giggs Ronaldo.. Rio Ferdinand vidic in defence.. and with his pace skill get the ball in the box he would get an assist and he did score some great goals.. but he wasn't the best finisher could miss some easy chances but he was good.. but not better than a prime Giggs at man unt or a figo at Barcelona or Madrid figo has better finishing and was technically better.. but Nani was a great player on his day but never the best player in the world

Grew up watching Nani. Wish everyone would stop comparing to Ronaldo, saying he didn't "Live up to the potential". The guy was a beast and gave me and so many United fans, great moments. A brilliant and underrated player. What is even was his potential then, if he had such a fruitful career, scoring so many important goals and became a United legend/cult hero. Thanks for the memories, Nani.

Thank you for speaking my mind bro. SAF never compared Nani to CR7. Nanị was a great player with great ethics, hardwork and professionalism. Nani was actually among the best players in the world, but sporting and Portugal probably kept comparing him to CR7. I had such an experience with JJ Okocha and Wilson Oruma of Nigeria. Oruma let people's comments about Okocha get to him. This is someone who was personally picked by the great Pele as best player of the JVC Japan cup in 1993. He left his own style and tried to play Okocha's. Nani however was not like that, he played his own style and we at United saw him. He was great to have as he controlled play like an unsung Chelsea hero (Eidur Goodjonssen) or a France Sissoko (previous one).

I think when life just happens so quickly where you’re at the bottom then all of a sudden at the top, you don’t have time to self reflect and build character. All he knew was work hard and be loyal because it seems like there was always someone there taking him under his wing and whoever that was, he would just be loyal to them. So he couldn’t really build that ego which was needed in times where he should’ve maybe put his foot down. Shouldn’t have been benched for that final, makes no sense from Fergie.

There's a compilation of Nani's united goals somewhere in this platform. Most of the goals were absolute screamers. He was a man for moments. I suppose consistency is the price he had to pay.

Regarding the prem player of the year nominations Scott Parker pretty much single handedly kept West Ham up that year and was 7 out of 10 every week consistently. and Charlie Adam banged in over ten league goals from centre mid for what was at best a low championship level Blackpool squad, which resulted in an expensive move to Liverpool. they both fully deserved their nominations and I don’t think you watched the prem in that era enough to understand the impact they both had on their teams

Ronaldo is my favorite since Ronaldinho retired but Nani without the injuries and with more consistency he could rival Ronaldo talent. Very talented player unstoppable on his day.

Dream trio of CR7, Nani and RQ is arguably the most sophisticated midfield to manage, no wonder it was almost impossible to connect them together.
