In the mass production of bell peppers, automated technology plays a pivotal role from harvesting to distribution. In 2020, the global production of bell peppers reached 36 million tonnes. China led the production with a staggering 46% of the total yield. This is a testament to the scale and efficiency of China’s agricultural sector. Following China, countries like Mexico, Indonesia, and Turkey also contributed significantly to the global production. The use of automated technology in these countries varies, but the trend is clear: as technology advances, its adoption in agriculture, including in the production of crops like bell peppers, continues to increase.
Once picked, the peppers are transported on conveyor belts to the sorting facility where scanners and AI algorithms categorize the peppers by size, color, and quality. This automated sorting process ensures consistent quality and reduces waste.
