In my opinion the only bonus should be one for winners and one for longevity. Teams that have been around for over 10 to 15 years under the same or very similar names should get extra money and teams that are in the top three of the constructors championship should get extra money. I could be convinced to also have a small bonus for the team with the driver champion. The fact that Ferrari get all that extra money is outrageous. If they get a LST bonus so should McLaren and Williams.

And this why I laugh hysterically whenever I hear that Ferrari are threatening to leave F1 and the inevitable conversation that follows, namely, can F1 survive without Ferrari? Yes, F1 can easily survive, the question is really whether Ferrari can survive without F1.

@ReclusiveDuck
@ReclusiveDuck 6 жыл бұрын
And how do you think they generate profit. from both cars and, much more importantly, merchandise? From motor racing obviously.F1 is the most prestigious category of racing in the world, and Ferrari are the most prestigious performance car manufacturer. If Ferrari leave F1 it would damage the F1 brand but there are other manufacturers to fill the void, but the damage to Ferrari brand would be much greater.

Believe me...rich arabs, asians and russians don't give a damn about F1...they only know about Ferrari and it's fast cars... If F1 is really affecting Ferrari sales then they wouldn't be this high because Ferrari didn't win a F1 title in 10 years... So no it would not affect them as much as you think...on the other side F1 would get affected pretty bad...30 or 40% of fans are Ferrari fans...other 30% hates Ferrari and they want to beat them because that is prestigous...sponsors, tv right, ticket sales...that would all go down in a major way. No brand can replace Ferrari....

@ReclusiveDuck
@ReclusiveDuck 6 жыл бұрын
And where does Ferrari get it's reputation that entices wealthy people like that? From motor racing, and in Ferrari's case, particularly F1. Ferrari's reputation comes from it's racing history, whether the wealthy people buying their cars know about that history is irrelevant, all they have to know that the name Ferrari is special. The whole point of motorsports is to sell cars, "Race on Sunday, buy on Monday" and no other manufacturer (with maybe the exception of Porshe) espouses that idea more than Ferrari. Why do you think the final grand prix of the season is held in Abu Dhabi right next door to Ferrari World? Ferrari leaving F1 would be bad for F1, but it'd be a disaster for Ferrari. Ferrari is NOT bigger than F1.
@acenace24
@acenace24 6 жыл бұрын
I like how Ferrari threaten to leave F1 each year. You're making the most money and are producing the 2nd or 3rd best car! Its also really messed up to have a new team like Haas make so little. I am actually amazed that they weren't the worst team the last two seasons looking at those numbers.

Ferrari is a small company, small enterprise. . Mercedes, Porsche, Ford, Honda, Red Bull, etc., are multinationals with big capital. Mclaren and Williams are a small company but do not build engines, Mclaren has 2000 employees, Ferrari 3000 employees. Ferrari has a higher budget prize because it has never abandoned F1. . It is not with the F1 budget that you make a winning car, an example Mercedes that has prepared hybrid engine technology many years before its opponents, or develop technological solutions of various types (aerodynamics, suspension, etc.) to be ready for any new regulation, thanks to the great capital that a multinational company has. Mercedes has won many titles thanks to the new regulations on the hybrid engine, Mercedes had much advantage in the hybrid engine. Mercedes before the new regulations 2014 had threatened to abandon the F1. In the 2014-2016 championship there were limitations in the development of the car and the engine, you were very limited in the development, in 2017 freedom of development and Ferrari returns competitive for the title. Ferrari in 2017-2018 has failed due to errors and strategy of the team, and drivers errors, in 2017-2018 Ferrari was very competitive. In 2018 the Ferrari engine was better but not aerodynamic. Ferrari in 2018 was overall the best car Ferrari in 1999-2004 had no advantage in the regulations, 1999-2000-2001-2003 has won a few points, also 2007-2008. The Mercedes in F1 is all English, team and engine, only the capital and the brand is German, to contribute to the success was also an Italian engineer from the Ferrari Aldo Costa, car designer. The Mercedes on the hybrid engine had a few years of development advantage over its rivals. Mercedes had a one second advantage in the race in 2014, clear favor for mercedes in the regulations, the FIA despite this has maintained limitations in the development of the car 2014-2016, in 2014 the development was totally blocked, the opposing teams were very limited in development. Never before in the history of F1 has a car with a one second advantage in the race after a change of regulations. Mercedes in 2013 did not have all this advantage, it is clear that the 2014 regulations have been to the advantage of Mercedes, despite this advantage, there have been development limits during the season, all for the benefit of the Mercedes which already had a huge advantage. I hope I expressed myself well. sorry for english.

@@minimovzEt Ferrari IS in fact a small company, in terms of how many people work there and how much money the company earns in a year (it sells a few very expensive niche cars, the income is much smaller than the one it would get by selling a lot of cheap city cars). @@minimovzEt basically because Ferrari, while having strong ties with it, is not part of the FIAT group, in terms of BUDGET, people and facilities. There should be a HTB, Historical team budget, pay 20 million $ to each team(exept Ferrari, becuase they already have LST) who continuously has been in the sport for 20 years or plus. So Mclaren, Williams and Sauber get this budget, greatly reducing pay drivers and appriciates teams’ commitment to the sport.

Really matters where you live. It's so different in different countries. The info i will be given is based of 11 years karting experience in Sweden. So first off, you have to think about this fact. Do you want to drive gokart just for the fun in driving? or to also have the choice to go racing against other drivers? The reason why i ask this question is because If you just gonna drive for fun and you have not done it before, there is no reason to look for "the best chassi for good price". Just get a older chassi, still works properly and it will lower the cost alot. In sweden you can get a 4-5 year old chassi for around $400-500 while a new one is around $3000-4000. Same with the motor. If you want to be competitive against other drivers, then you have to spend atleast $3000-$30000 for a motor that can have the speed to race at a higher standpoint. But if you are just gonna go drive for fun, you can probably get an older motor with older updates or just a motor that is not allowed in racing anymore, as they are usualy very cheap. If you are the age of 18+ i would either recommend Rotax but if you want to race, remember, normaly younger drivers. Easier kart to have working without much to do. Just start and go. Sometimes obviously you have to fix alot but mainly just works. Budgets for different ways of doing a karting season: Just driving with disallowed karting materials that can be used on track but Never in races anymore: around $300-$1200 (really compares if you find something at the right time.) Problem with this: Sometimes you get really crappy stuff and have to do more and spend way more. Just drive for fun, real karting but not competitive: (Recomend this for what you were asking about) $1000-$2000. Competitive at a lower lvl: $2000-$4000 Racing with the higher level of material. (Harder to get as you have to know different people in the sport already) $8000-$30000.

Down here you can join sort of a Club where after paying or monthly dues, you race decent Karts throughout the season. No dragging the Kart around, no maintenance expenses, I guess you only pay fuel and tyres. This is where you can gain the attention of scouts and sponsors. YET! Few have made it far on their careers so far... Most go for the fun.

So it's trying to say its a long term investment to investors, if you stick it out then eventually u will get a bigger cut. F1 seems to be looking for long term teams so in HAAS case run as cheaply as possible until they reach those milestones to gain more from F1.

Well this question is kind of problematic what to do with it. Lets start with the rule i personally hate, the three year rule, where the teams need 3 seasons to start getting the money. That rule is absolutely terrible. It hinders new teams so so much. It is very discouraging to know that you need to lose money for 2 years before you can start to think you could break even. Next i would like to address the constructor bonus, which is a nice incentive for big companies like the gang that is getting it to be enticed to join the sport, and it creates a disparity between small teams and big teams. That could be worked around if f1 could introduce bonus for small teams. The last thing i want to touch is the long standing bonus teams get for being involved with the sport for a long period of time, which i tend to agree with (and not just because I am a Ferrari fan and my team gets the most leeway). I think that it is of particular importance to F1 because it rewards teams that have been in F1 for a long period of time, investing in the sport, promoting it, getting fans and so on. Look at Ferrari for example. It hasn't missed a single season of F1(some races yes but never a full season) always competed and always was a part of F1 DNA. It is easy to ignore how many fans support Ferrari and how big of a crowd they draw in. They have always been one of the best teams, and even in longest droughts between titles they have been somewhere up there, fighting, investing, winning, losing (both money and driver lives). I think that that kind of commitment and loyalty ought to be rewarded in some way. As an anti example we can use Renault. They have arrived to F1 scene in 1977 and competed several years, than quit and went to just making engines, than came back, then hit hard times and quit and finally came back. Every time some difficulties arose they would quit and come back when things settled, while McLaren and Ferrari never did that. Shouldn't that be appreciated and awarded. Even when sport was so dangerous (1970's to early 1980's) when almost every other race a driver would die and calamities were at their highest teams stuck with the sport and kept investing and developing it making it what it is now, a pinnacle of motorsport, shouldn't that be appreciated. In my opinion it should, and stopping it would be disrespectful to say the least. It is a competition but loyalty should mean something.

F1RacingFans i agree with the lst, therefore williams and mclaren also deserve it. The fact only ferrari gets just feels unfair as they have passed 40 years old mark and their contribution to f1 is undeniable. Also 3 years rule should be tweaked like paying $12 millions for first year, $18 millions for second year, and eventually $36 millions beginning third year. This would encourage and help new teams to stay in f1 instead of discouraging them by only giving them money beginning from 3rd year. They may say "F1 is only for the best so if you don't have the money don't compete here." Dude, this is why we don't have new teams for so long and people are discouraged to race here. Giving new teams some money would motivate them to keep competing

I'm new to this sport and have a few questions, so if you don't mind I would appreciate a bit of feedback. 1) This probably sounds stupid, but you are saying that F1 doles out the amount of money to teams even before they start a race? Is that on top of sponsorship deals? If so, where does the money come from? These are truly staggering numbers. 2) How much do title sponsors pay per year? 3) How much do sponsors whose logos are hard to see without binoculars pay? 4) Why does a team like, say, Williams get all jacked up when they get a single point in a race? What's the point of getting a point? Who cares? Inquiring minds want to know. Thank you in advance if you're willing and able to shed some light for this newbie.
