My girlfriend and I started watching you when you first started running. It inspired us to start running. We are now training to run the 2024 London half marathon and 7 days later the Manchester marathon to raise money for the National Autistic Society. Its sad you had to justify your funding after the comment from the other platform - however transparency is easier, but I feel that sometimes people struggle to comprehend what’s beyond the individuals moral compass- ‘This guy can’t have had this idea because he wants to leave a legacy - you mean he actually managed to sort out the funding for it and was able to raise money for charity as well as introduce people to the way of life in these countries (that we may have either preconceived notions about or may just never have bothered to consider)- no , it’s got to have more to it!’ For me you have been a real joy to watch, I’m disabled and my husband runs - yet I feel I’ve got more of an idea of running watching you- I may not be able to do it but I get my little chapter of exercise when I watch your videos - keep up those ones and twos !

I adore this series. The resolve, skill, creativity, raw intellect, kindness, and bravery on display from every member of the crew is patently absurd. My admiration is unbound. Its cool that the modern media landscape helps to support this project, but the fact that this project could be birthed, and then could continue to persist in the face of tremendous adversity, is ironclad testament to the ability of you lot. I'd be remiss not to mention the fascinating and candid cultural studies of the nations being traversed; its stellar.

My guess for the logistical problem: Algeria's still not budging on their "you can only enter from your home country" thing that sent them to South Africa to start. They're probably trying to get permission to use the Tindouf border crossing (which is in a lowkey war zone), which for "tourists" requires permission from both Mauritania and Algeria - and the request for Mauritanian permission has to come from *your* country's embassy in Mauritania - which for this multinational crew might be a whole production. And some nations outright refuse to help. They may end up having to take the long way up the coast through West Africa/Morocco and try Algeria from there.
@Nooticus
@Nooticus 7 ай бұрын
Nope. To my knowledge the Algeria/Morocco borders are all closed and the countries have no diplomatic relations with each other. This is literally the only reason why they had to go the way harder and more remote Tindouf route in the first place.

Australia's coastline is over double the length of this mission so I think that's a bit much but it would probably be more pleasant than the Africa mission considering the conditions being more developed, stable and safe compared to most of the areas Russ has been through in Africa (Sahara might be the worst of them all later on), though the commitment needed to do it would be much greater considering the distance is over double...
