I'm a 57 year old man who loves pineapple. I eat a 435 gram can in natural juice, everyday and have been doing this since my early 20's. I never get sick, others around me get colds, coughs and flu's, but never seem to get anything. Blood pressure, normal. Blood sugar 3.0-4.0, weight 84 kg at 5'11''. It's got to be the pineapple.

I'll share my experience about eating pineapple to remove eye floaters. I cut a fresh pineapple into chunks and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. I eat 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup per day; I just count 10-15 chunks instead of measuring. I eat them first thing in the morning. After 6 or 7 days, the floaters became more severe as they were breaking loose. I noticed a significant improvement only 10 days from the start. The floaters gradually fade more over time. The pineapple chunks stay good in the refrigerator until I finish them, which is around a week. I buy a new pineapple a few days before I need it because the ones I find in the store aren't ripened and need to sit on a sunny counter first. Lay your pineapple on its side to ripen so the bottom can get airflow and prevent mold.

I use bromelien suppliments regularly for heavy injuries that occur due to mouth biting in my sleep caused by gran mal epilepsy that I've suffered since I was 14 (now 40). The biting causes my tongue and mouth to swell heavily and cause extreme pain while it's recovering. Years ago I found that bromelien as a anti inflamatory caused the swelling to nearly dissapear (or at least as close to as it could after that much damage) and the pain levels durring the healing process (usually takes around a week) had become incredibly reduced. This is a suppliment that i've suggested to others dealing with epilepsy for years now. It does not mitigate the seizures themselves, but for a lot of people, The only thing that we can actively control, is how effectively we manage the damage and after effects. Hope this addition is helpful to others on this feed, keep up the great content.

I ate a whole can of pineapple thinking it would flush me out. But in less than an hour the pain went away. I once tried to make jelly and i thought it would be cool to throw in some pineapple. I waited and waited and i never set.... so i added some gelatine, and i waited and waited... 2 days later it was still a liquid and not set.... This is exactly what he's explaining in the bromalin in pineapple was destroying the proteins in the jelly making it impossible to set.... "BUT" canned pineapple which is heat treated kills the enzyme "bromalin" and therefor wont effect the jelly and it will set. Another thing i realized was making kebabs skewers to grill and i would chop up fresh pineapple and i would put it on a skewer with chicken and if left before cooking, sometime the chicken would seem mushy... yes, that's the bromalin breaking down the proteins in the meat.

I began to see some kind of 'floaters' in my right eye. I read about Pineapple having an effect on reducing 'Floaters'. I started eating fresh Pineapple before each meal. I also ate some Blueberries when available. Seems right now the instances of noticing the 'Floaters' has greatly reduced! I hope this is so---very encouraging regardless! Plenty of fresh Pineapple here in Thailand!

Maybe go for max 1/6 or 1/8th of the fruit which is approximately 100 to 150 grams. This amounts to only 10-15 grams of sugar & 15-20grams in carbohydrates.

How do you figure this stuff out? I knew pineapple was good for digestion but it wreaked havoc with mg mouth. Now I know to eat it with a protein. Except I like the other benefits of eating plain also, so maybe not eating so much of it plain so it can’t burn my mouth is the key. Balance is everything right Dr Mandel? Thank you for sharing your tidbits 😊

If you have insulin resistance or type two diabetes which is a lot of people you need to steer clear of this advise, it spikes your insulin due to a good percentage of the fructose being pure glucose and the fructose will be released slowly to sustain the spike.

For all those diabetics out there eating pineapple 🍍 is challenging as eating this as a snack can cause your glucose/sugar to go up. Maybe go for max 1/6 or 1/8th of the fruit which is approximately 100 to 150 grams. This amounts to only 10-15 grams of sugar & 15-20grams in carbohydrates.
