I am in the SAME exact boat as you! I was a vegan for almost 9 years and a vegetarian before that, but my PCOS has led me to incorporate the same things as you! As someone who struggled with the same idea that I would be judged in my life, I'm thankful you came out with this, because if I can relate I'm sure there's a lot more of us! Heal those ovaries!!! Reproductive health is something that is so dismissed in our society, and people and the world are finally coming around to speaking about it and trying to take care of it!

Hi Chey! I actually had to quit being vegan for Eating Disorder reasons. It was the HARDEST mental and physical shift I have ever had to go through, but one that has ultimately freed me, and made my thoughts and feelings around food so so different. It is hard, but ultimately better for me and my mind and body. You know within yourself what is best for you. And you just have to listen to this. Nothing else matters. You are amazing and I look up to you as someone who has such a lovely healthy relationship and thoughtful practice around food. Here for you! Love you! Proud of you!!

Cheyenne, I really admire your boldness to speak up and speak on hard and maybe personal topics! I’m here for all the different videos. For me it’s not so much the type of content you put out, it’s more the consistent videos. It’s you! You’re the type of friend I always wanted and it feels like I’m just watching my friend be herself on camera and deliver food quality without fail every time! Do what you love and what you enjoy! I’m here for it 🤍

I also have PCOS and I feel like I’ve made it my life long mission to always manage my symptoms and listen to other women and their journey. I’m not usually a commenter but I wanted to say I’ve had to grapple with the exact same issues and I feel you - trying to maintain a positive relationship with food and exercise while also trying to be a low carb vegan was just way too much and something had to give. I got my diagnosis 5 years ago just as I was heading into grad school too and it was a lot to grapple with. Thinking lots of positive thoughts for you as you navigate this new space and time - I’m really impressed to see how you’re handling things x

Hi Cheyenne! I'm so glad you're coming back with new videos 😊 I understand what you're going through, I've been vegetarian for 4 years and now I've started to eat some meat again and it's been difficult for me to manage it because I feel like I'm failing but at the same time I kinda feel like I'm free from the pressure I've put on myself to keep that specific diet when I couldn't. Good luck with grad school! 🎉

Health and happiness>everything Love your content and authenticity! Everytime I see you posted it brings me joy! I also stopped being completely vegan, I eat eggs regularly and seafood occasionally. Simply because I missed having it in my diet. If people judge you for doing what is best for YOU, that's just a reflection of their own character 🤷‍♀️

Lately I decided to quit being vegan due to eating disorder and it was one of the hardest and most emotional decisions in my life, even tho I knew I need to do it for my mental health and for my recovery. Still feel not so good about it. This video made me feel a bit better about this, so thank you

omg I'm sorry you feel like you'll be met with judgement! I really loved this video and agree with you on everything, and surprised to see how similar our meals are (I'm made of 80% TJ ingredients atp), but I also had to cut out the fake meats. I followed you a long time ago when I was experimenting with veganism myself but I quickly realized I couldn't keep my pcos under control with such a high carb life. would love to see more of these videos if you feel inspired to make them! good luck Cheyenne!

I completely can relate to this video! I was diagnosed with pcos over 15 years ago and for 10 of those I was vegan. I even was plant based vegan for 4 of those years and it didn’t help with any of my pcos related symptoms. I made the decision to incorporate chicken back into my diet and lose all the fake meat products and it did wonders for my skin and weight. I still have guilt coping meat even if it’s only a few days a week. Despite what the vegan and plant based community might feel it’s not for everyone. Don’t stop doing what you’re doing:)

I loved this video so much! 🫶🏻 your vulnerability, gentleness and strength always comforts me. I have PCOS and depression as well and have just begun looking into natural ways to balance my hormones. I was having a really hard time with meal planning because of some very difficult life changes, but this video has helped me with a few meal ideas and seeing how it’s healed your body is encouraging. I love how knowledgeable you are on the things you discuss, and with that, am super excited to see different content of you choose to do so. Anything you touch will be wonderful and I’m so excited to follow along. 🤍

Thank you so much for this video Cheyenne. I know this was from a year ago, but I just got diagnosed with PCOS last week. I had been vegan for about 6 years, and have recently started incorportating eggs and fish/ some seafood due to certain deficienies and overall health for PCOS. I honestly would have never thought I had it, since my periods are pretty regular and I dont have acne or excessive hair growth. But I unfortunately do have the male pattern baldness and the mini cysts on the ovaries. I never thought I would not be vegan, and part of me is heart broken about it. I also worried about judgement from vegan communities, but ultimately I know this is what is best for my health. I just wanted to thank you for making something so relatable, and I really hope your journey has been well since. :)

I am so incredibly proud of you. I was vegan for a year before deciding to be more flexible. I can't say I've experienced the extent to which you have your PCOS, but I do know what it's like to have different factors like culture, friends, etc affect the way you eat. I've struggled with multiple eating disorders and fell into a toxic positivity mindset when it came to intuitive eating and "eating whatever you want." Anyway, I just wanted to say that you're not alone and it's great that you're prioritizing your health. Good luck with school (I'm also a psych major), I wish you all the best!! Don't feel pressured to make content that doesn't fulfill you/align with your lifestyle anymore

Girl, im so proud of you for finding what works for you! I use to be vegan too and felt so guilty when I began eating chicken, fish and eggs! I love veganism but for me it just wasn’t sustainable. I mainly focus on Whole Foods, plant based with about 20% of my diet being animal products, all while still incorporating and enjoying 100% full plant based meals. We’ve missed you so much on here and so ready for some new recipe ideas! 🫶🏾

More people need to be talking about this! I was not strictly vegetarian when I got diagnosed but I was kind of "flexitarian", I tried to eat vegetarian or vegan most of the time, I was anyway never a big fan of meat and loved my carbbbssss :) Also, in most social circles I hang out in, vegetarianism/veganism is kind of the norm. After my diagnosis, I realized that I'm quite intolerant to soy and gluten, as well as some dairy. But the worst thing for my body was processed food, especially fake meats which are usually full of gluten and/or soy, plus heavily processed. I realized that trying to conform with my vegan flatmates was having a toll on my body. After cutting off soy and anything processed, increasing my intake of meat, fish and eggs and decreasing the amount of carbs I consume, I feel soooo much better. My most annoying symptom which led me to diagnosis in the first place, was that I was getting hungry way too often and would wake up in the middle of the night, every night, starving, and would not be able to go back to sleep without eating a full meal. So, not only did I have to cut off some plant based foods from my diet, I also had to eat a high protein to carb ratio which was impossible when the only major plant proteins I could eat were lentils and chickpeas, which are pretty high in carbs too (I also have a hard time digesting beans, only eating them occasionally). A lot of vegans claim that everyone can be vegan, but it is just not true. Eating more eggs and meat saved my life from being miserable.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2020, but didn’t find out about it until July 2023. Basically in 2020 I missed my period for about 6 months and then this year I missed it in July and thought I had blockage again, so I went on the patient portal and found a message from 2020 where they diagnosed me. Explains a lot about what is wrong with me. Acne since I was 11 (I’m 25), tired all the time, headaches everyday, irregular period, and a number of other things.

My grandmother was in her second life now, all because she ate what she wanted to eat. Before we are so strict about her food intake, wherein we shift her to being vegan but then she became worse! After she was confined in hospital for 2 months her dietician and doctor allowed her to eat anything she wants or what we normally cook at home, she eats a right amount of protein (chicken, pork, beef, eggs) and not a vegan anymore and amazingly from bedridden to now alive and kicking healthy grandmother. I am just watching your foods, but I am not a big fan of Vegan things, and just by watching how you have breakouts of most of your videos, in my mind saying”I hope she quits being vegan because it really doesn’t work, you even have health issues while you are Vegan. God did not create things that doesn’t benefit people like the source of protein, but to intake these things in moderation.

Any restrictive diet is often unsustainable! Thank you for your honesty, I don’t meet a lot of ex vegans (like myself) who acknowledge it. They usually suffer health issues and just disappear off of the platform without explanation. Taking nutrition in college was a big eye opener when it comes to just how restrictive and unhealthy these diets can be for people. There’s nothing wrong with being vegan it just does not work for everyone and that’s okay. There are other ways to make a difference if you’re only vegan because you love animals. I don’t eat meat like I used to, but it’s still necessary to my own personal health. You can also cook in cast iron to help add more iron into your diet if you aren’t big on red meats or other animal based iron rich foods. Take care of yourself! ❤
