When I first got into the hobby I built a topper for my coffee table and it came out very similarly to this. After 6 months I switched to a full table because we found it eventually was hurting our backs during game nights. Just our experience. But this table looks REAL nice regardless.

This sweet upload pace is like you guys went on a holiday to a remote island, got a solid tan, and then your devices found wifi all of a sudden when you came back and pushed everything up all at once.

I own a board game coffee table. Not the Origins one, I got mine off Esty during covid. If you don't have a dedicated gaming space then they are a great practical idea for a multifunction environment. I will say seeing the 3inch raiser is a good idea. I have been using 5 inch bed risers under my coffee table legs when I play games. That seems to lift the play surface up to a comfortable level. As a reference my table is 4x4 with a 3x3 felted game area recessed 3inches into the table. It is covered by wooden leaves like a normal game table is constructed. I don't know if I'm 100% sold on their solution of raising the play area. My next coffee table, ideally, will have adjustable legs so I can configure it to the height I want it. Lets face it all couches/ sectionals/ recliners/ ect... are not constructed at the same height. I have also found that when I play with my kids, they want it lower. Adults want the table raised higher. Ideally I would love to be able to raise the table 6-8 inches instead of 5 inches while playing games. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but that would put the coffee table at stomach height just like a regular table would be. Anyway its just something to think about when making a purchase like this.

Thanks for the comment! Yeah definitely think they could’ve raised this even higher… but every couch is a bit different, plus gotta account for the people who like to play on the floor (I got some buddies like that). Cheers!

@@ashtonwu7760 Don't take it the wrong way. I wasn't bashing the product. I was moreso commenting on the experience I have had owning a similar table. There are things I will look for next time. Adjustable legs are one of them. I actually like the fact they took into account a raised surface. That shows foresight and playtesting. Realistically if they designed a caster system where you could raise the table top in increments of 1-2 inch segments up to 10 inches... That would be a great product. Forgo the recess area and use that to hide the caster system. It could be as simple as a flip around the insert and attach the bigger table top. Their on to something good.. better than other products I have seen in the past.. I can just tell its not the final product.. its version 1.0

I think I'll be getting a kotatsu for this winter. That seems like a much more enjoyable table to sit at and play board games on.

At 6:03, you can see Ashton's sliding motion push the soft padding off the bottom-right corner of the table, relative to our perspective. It does seem very intended for you *not* to slide it in but rather gently lower it from above, for better or worse.

I played board games on low tables before. After about an hour, your back starts to really hurt.

Yeah it’s not something I’d recommend for more than an hr. For solo longest I’d do is maybe 1.5 hrs?

That mat with hexagons would be perfect for playing Hive. A bit of overkill for Hive, but hive is an awesome game.

61x37 is still too big for my apartment. I use two adjustable height folding tables, a tablecloth, and a playmat, and the only thing I'm missing is roll-off protection.

Tell you what, if I ever broke into Shelfside's place, boy, I'd be clearing the place. Making bank. Wouldn't ever need to buy a game again . . . though, as with my turns, I would probably take forever to finish, and get arrested, even if the police took hours to arrive-would still find me there, stuck with analysis paralysis, trying to decide what's best to take. Or maybe he's crafty and would entice me with a game of TI4, thus gaining plenty of time for the cops to arrive as well. Darn you Shelfside!! (" oДo)ᕤ

I've been wanting a board game coffee table for awhile now. I do like the overall look of this but at $3000 this would be and instant pass. The mat not fitting right is just ridiculous. $3000 and they can't even get a right size mat??? Thanks for the great content!

Just buy a regular wooden coffee table and build the wood topper yourself... Perhaps turn it into a product? Or ask ikea to do it? Gametable topper as a accessory for LACK
