Күн бұрынFor many fans who just started watching figure skating, you are always drawn to the jumps. And somehow you will feel the jumps done by Hanyu looks so different from others! What makes the quads from Yuzuru Hanyu so special and with such high quality as compared to the other figure skaters?
In this video, we explain Yuzuru Hanyu's journey to conquer his weakness, the 4S jump! And how he successfully became the first skater to land 4Lo! Let's take a look!
PS: As of the time this video was done, Hanyu just announced he would attempt 4A in NHK Trophy 2021. But the next day, he was unfortunate injured and had to withdraw from NHK. Wish Hanyu speedy recovery!

We initially made this video to cheer for Hanyu's 4A attempt in NHK Trophy. But as of yesterday, Hanyu suffered an injury at his right ankle and unfortunately had to withdraw from the competition. Wish Yuzu speedy recovery! Nonetheless, let's appreciate how special and beautiful his edge jumps - 4S and 4Lo really are. When I was new to figure skating, I had little knowledge about the difficulty of each jumps. I never thought 4s, 4lo, and 3a are one of the hardest jumps to achieve because Yuzuru makes them look so easy. The way he executes every jumps is so beautiful and looks so effortless. He balances everything, from jumps to his performance and that makes him so different and unique from other skaters.

Yes those are extremely difficult elements.. especially after you start skating you will realize even step sequence which has little points in their scoresheets are hard AF.. 🤣🤣🤣

@@turmer1c you could make that argument but you'd be wrong. Nathan knows he isn't the best, he admitted that Yuzu is the GOAT. How many videos on YT call him the best?

@@turmer1c - if NC can have difficult entries and exits from/to his jumps then we can start to compare. NC is more consistent in landing jumps because he doesn’t dare doing difficult entries. This is why his programs look like chopped sausage. Don’t even get me started on deep knee bend, deep edge work, flexible spins.

I've been watching figure skating for a long time, but I've never met a figure skater who attracts me so much in everything as he does. There has never been and will never be anyone better than him. I hope he'll take his time to heal his overworked body and injured right leg.

Да, его прыжки как-то отличаются от прыжков других фигуристов ... не только из-за особого входа и выхода. Также края, тело, жест руки, музыкальность. Все вместе. Так сложно объяснить 😅

Пусть он останется здоровым и воплотит в жизнь все те мечты, которые он себе поставил! Ему не обязательно побеждать каждый раз (конечно, мы, фанаты, хотим, чтобы он побеждал каждый раз). Но пока он счастлив и здоров, этого достаточно. Нам просто нравится смотреть, как они весело веселятся друг с другом на льду. 😆😆

@@FigureSkatingFan да его просто любят. Он крут даже в том , как выходит на лед. А его программы, это театральное представление. Там не только коньки, там его взгляд душу на изнанку выворачивает. И пусть он будет 1000 раз здоров. И пусть катается, в свое удовольствие( он говорит, что просто любит выступать). И пусть победит он этот аксель, хоть это будет уже не аксель, это будет шедевр Ханью..... ой я могу о нем говорить бесконечно. Так его люблю. Да и пусть ему не занижают , никогда. Их оценки не смогут его сделать менее врсхитительным

Thank you for this wonderful video about yuzuru hanyu. After what have happened to him..this heal a lot. For people who want to see WHY people admired him, this is more than enough. He is in fact a challenger and a genius one. Nowadays a lot of other skater do quad loop which yuzuru already landed in 2016. He really bring up the sport. He is just ahead of everybody else. For people who refused to accept his greatness..well, yuzu would not loose anything except they, themselves. I just loved to hear the comment at that particular moment cause they cant help it except showing their admiration to what he put out there in the competition. You can hear their voice..their excitement and these commentator, they have seen figure skating for so long and knows what they are talking about. Choose who you want to believe. For the score 😩..its true. Just check the sheet and compare. How could they do this to him because he deserve better mark. His fans adores his good attitude as a person and as an athelete, He walks the talk. Everythings he said or preach, he do it. He showed us..inspired us to work hard in our own unique battle. Seeing his smile after keep trying overcome it and accomplish his goal at the end just touch our heart. We will always stand by your side dear yuzuru. You do not realize what encouragement you have given me through your life as a figure skater. Recover at your own pace. U have won everything there is. Until the day we met again to see you conquer that 'friend' Quadaxel.

I remember in one of the interview I think it's 2019 he said he knows a lot of people were worried for him when he injured himself. But he cannot guarantee that he will not get injured again. So when that happens please fight along with him. Yes it pains me to no end to know Yuzuru is injured again but I'll support and wait for him and take it as a price of having the luxury to watch his otherworldly performances all these years.

@@FigureSkatingFan I did find him really tired during Olympics... But I heard he had a asthma attack just before his program. I found him really brave, he was livid and definitely not as energetic as before, yet still going for it! He's truly a model to us. I wish him the best, no matter how fast he recovers as long as he does, he deserves it!

今季ネイサンも宇野君も４ループを習得して試合で跳んでたのはびっくりした。ジャンプの種類を増やしてるんだね。４ループは最初に足をクロスして跳ぶので高さと飛距離が出にくい難しいジャンプだが、羽生君のは高さがすごいと本田さんが言ってたな。とにかく羽生君のジャンプは癖がなくて本当に美しい。海外から彼のジャンプは教科書と言われるわけだ。

Watching figure skating in America is like: *Yuzuru lands 4Lo* American commentator: "Solid start" *Nathan does 4Sal with drawn out, easy entry and wobbly landing* American commentator: "INCREDIBLE, UNBELIEVABLE, HES ON ANOTHER PLANET" Nothing against Nathan, I just don't know how it's possible to be 2X Olympic champion and be underrated somehow but the US Skating Federation has found a way to do that.

The first thing I noticed about Hanyu was that, unlike other skaters, he never "telegraphs" his jumps, he integrates them seamlessly into his performance.

One of the reasons why it's so scary for him perfecting his edge jumps, that if he lands bad with other toe jumps it will injure his right ankle which is the landing leg for his axels. Just imagine him landing Quad Axel, it would be so painful now that he's injured.

I am so grateful for your videos and the explanations and analysis. Like holy, this man is so so smart and wonderful like I am actually so mesmerised by his techniques and thoughts. For real GOAT. No matter the score, no one can do what he has done in span of a few years a decade - no disrespect to anyone I love many many skaters - , breaking that many record, being so artistic just understanding the sport, it is so beautiful. His thinking oml. I can't even fathom. Actual genius and a wonderful skater. Yuzu, bloody brilliant.

As stunning as his Chopin programme was, I always thought Otonal is as beautiful too, similar in contemplative starts and explosive finishes in the step sequence, and of course all brought out by Yuzuru, but for some reason it, also choreographed by the incredibly musical Jeffrey Buttle, and he, didn't get the deserving credit. And that original costume for Otonal is possibly his most beautiful...like a prince, of ice.

Es tan triste no poder ver a Yuzu en el NHK, tenía tantas ganas de verlo participar y ganar, me gusta que gane porque lo merece, siempre o casi siempre el puntaje no está nivelado a su habilidad y es sumamente injusto esos GOES, el me inspira tanto…. Tenia demasiada presión laboral, pero veo este tipo de vídeos y sus rutinas y me digo, tienes que ser fuerte y disciplinado como Yuzuru, no puedes rendirte tan fácilmente y realmente hoy ya estoy mejor después de unos días caóticos, soy médico especialista y no siempre es fácil, pero tengo mi peluche de Yuzu y le digo q me de algo de su fuerza y hago oración a Dios y todo va mejorando, Dios ayuda a Yuzuru a mejorar y ayúdale a que gane su tercer oro olímpico… 😊😉😘🍀, honestamente sin el patinando no voy a ver el NHK… 😒 ¿como para que?…..

You know I could get it if a judge didn't give +5GOE (not everybody's idea of perfection is the same). But giving anything less than 4 when it comes to his entry and exits (especially considering the high quality of his jumping technique and execution most notably when he lands the jumps) is just plain unthinkable.

I now have thorough understanding why Yuzuru's jumps during his performances landed him a 100+ and 300+ scores. 🤗 Actually, it's Yuzuru's performance that I got addicted watching, it seems flawless (even with little misshaps). He's indeed amazing to watch, so mesmerizing. When he performs, I can't take my eyes on him. I believe his other fans felt the same way. 😊

toe jumps or edges jumps are depend on the athletes preference. Some athletes using full edges for toe jumps and its common mistakes too..so its hard to say which one is more difficult than the other.

Yeah agree, it's personal preference for single to triple level. But honestly at quads level, edge jumps feel harder as it's harder to generate height without the vaulting effect, which explains why most quad jumpers have higher consistency for their toe jumps than edge jumps..

Every time I watched such professional tech analysis，I just want to smash ISU JSF to the fk hell. You guys jerk ruined Hanyu's efforts and let others think outside think he may be not that good in terms of tech skill aspects. That's so sad. The truth is that Hanyu is one of a kind that no one active right now can really compete with him either skating skills or artistry.

Why aren't difficult entries and exits rewarded as they should? His jumps alone should get high goe anyway even without the entries and exits. It's not like his height is worse then other skaters or he can't land or anything? Also, I know nothing about figure skating (thank you so much for these educational videos), but it looks like yuzu figured out how different entries fit the jumps, like he doesn't spread eagle toe jumps cuz it works better for gaining speed for edge jumps (at least it looks like it).

Difficult entry and exit used to be a criteria for guaranteed high GOE, but now it’s 1 out of 6 bullets for getting high GOE. Meaning even if u don’t have difficult entry and exit, as long as you hit the other 5 bullets you can still get the maximum GOE. However, a lot of these bullets are subjective and judges don’t really execute as according to protocols. There’s politics involved, and a lot of judges are not skaters themselves so.. - In Yuzu’s thesis video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aclil6eSrsfNlqs.html there are some explanations on that. I recommend you to watch it :)

4T - GPF 2011 / world 2012 4S - GPF 2015 4Lo - CS Autumn classic 2016 (already perfected since the first attempt!) 4Lz - first attempt in GP Russia 2017 (it’s a bit low in the landing but a lot of flow out of the jump so received +GOE bonus). Then injury. Then attempted again in worlds 2019 and it was perfect Hope it helps :)

5:13 3S is not three turn, it is counter. (LBO -> LFO -> LBI) / (counter - three turn - 3S)
