Glad it was Helpful 😃 Are you running OS on HDD or SSD? If HDD, would recommend swapping HDD or adding an SSD (replacing CD drive with caddy tray), to run OS on it. There is significant boost in performance doing this.

My bad, Sorry i couldn't convey it clearly. Assuming we both have the similar model year laptop (2016), initially Dell only offered HDD & dint have an SSD option. So do explore shifting the Operating System (OS) on an Solid State Drive (SSD), instead of the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). This upgrade will be cheaper than your RAM upgrade in terms of price, and will make your computer run much quicker i.e. it'll run like a smart phone, the system restart time will be only 2-5 Seconds instead of 30-45 seconds, you should be able to open more than 100 chrome tabs and still face no lag, even the battery life will be increased etc. I am recommeding this from personal experience, as i run Video editing, Mechanical Design & Coding softwares, this used to take me hours sometimes even a day. But post the SSD upgrade, its taking only few seconds-minutes. If unsure on process, get it done by a local technician. Mistakes could result in loss of your genuine windows license or even your Data. Mine was 8 GB from factory, added another 8 GB in video. Enabled virtual Ram for 16 BG (can do twice the size of the physical RAM present). So i have 32 GB RAM committed. Suggest you to enable it, especialy if you are running OS on a SSD, as its basically free RAM. Yes you can, Infact I believe the 7th gen variant supports upto 32 GB physical RAM, so you can put upto 2*16GB RAM's

First of I recommend upgrading your CPU, cause there is no use of having a dedicated GPU when the i3-7100 will never use its full potential. I have a Dell Optiplex and upgraded its i3 CPU to an AMD Ryzen Threadripper. Anyways the Dell 240w PSU was validated with the following Dell OEM video cards = 24K8H Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 1MPR3 AMD Radeon R9 360 8MXMJ Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 8CCF1 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1030 J27RG Nvidia GeForce GT 730 If you want to use retail video cards that have faster clock speeds, you will need to replace the Dell 240w PSU with a retail 3rd party PSU of at least 350w. But for RAM intensive tasks like games & video rendering or running simulations there is a huge difference in time taken. I can also parallely do other tasks when they are running in background, which was previously not possible.

Hey, even my computer was very slow & regretted buying it. But I did a SSD upgrade and now its really good. Before it used to always heatup & lag. Now it doesn't do so anymore & battery uptime increased! The total budget for doing this is slightly higher than that of a RAM upgrade, but totally worth it. your computer should boot up in just 5-7 sec 🔥. If your not confident doing it yourself any local shop will do it reasonably. This 'Ram upgrade' video which I posted it doesn't even help for day to day use, I needed more RAM to run heavy CAD/simulation softwares or Video editing that's why did. If this video would've gotten a better response, I myself would've posted on how to do so. Follow necessary procedure to transfer windows to SSD. Done that's it!

I personally use Crucial products, the link is in the description. As their site allows you to detect the device or select the device details to show the SSD that are compatible. Prices are also cheap & reliability same as competition.

Those top 5 screws too hold the back plate, so you need to mandatory remove them.

RAM speed is generally measured in megahertz, usually abbreviated as “Mhz.” This is a measure of the clock speed (how many times per second the RAM can access its memory) and is the same way CPU speed is measured. So 2666 is faster. But if this is for your second RAM & you want to run Dual channel, take the same Mhz as first RAM. yes, its possible & will work most of the time. However its always recommended to put identical rams (its terms of capacity, speed, latency etc.) for best dual channel performance. When RAMs are not identical, the motherboard will run all memory modules at the speed of the slowest module.

Yes you can. But generally, a single 8GB is preferable. as you have the potential to upgrade in the future by filling the second slot. Only if you are certain that 8GB will be enough (and it probably will be), and a pair of 4GBs is cheaper than a single 8GB, then go for the pair. Since this laptop motherboard supports “dual channel” mode, the pair of 4GBs may actually be faster than a single 8GB. But Note that in this circumstance, the chips must be identical, that is, if you have a 4GB stick already, a second 4GB stick needs to have the exact specifications as the original, so you can’t just grab whatever is on sale. A mismatched pair will work, but at lower speed.
