Last year a buddy and I finished 10 seconds apart at the end of a 80 mile race. This year I beat him by 3 minutes. He spent the year obsessing about bike weight and grams and spending every penny on exclusive parts and built a 5kg bike. I spent the year obsessing about training and diet and didn't think once about my 9kg bike. On race day I was 22lbs lighter than the year before whereas he was right about the same weight. Being mainly a climbing event, my weight advantage slowly ate into him all day.

Thanks for your videos. Too many channels are pushing fancy expensive new things without talking about value or giving a good comparison of different brands.

I am luckly enough to have two Specialized bikes. An SL4 with box section wheels and a SL6 with 50mm wheels. I have a set not totally flat ride . My best time for the course (on a good day) was on the SL4. An ok ride on the SL6 was slightly slower. The performance difference between an aero bike v an standard bike is not as great as the difference between a good ride day v an average ride day... Money spent on kit does not guarantee speed.

I completely agree. I’ve found body position helped speed but that it. I’m sure deep wheels help but much less than “advertised “ for me.

Im on a Female model Ridley, the Liz, and was embarrassed when I first owned and rode it.. To the point of putting stickers over the part where it said, "LIZ". now i realize the bike has so little to do with training, and all the improvement is literally up to my time, and training. Now IM very proud and happy with the bike, especially to be able to hang with seasoned racers and catching crews on the road. It's esp nice when they see the model of the bike now.

CeramicShity bearings The SKF offer much more for any wallet deep even with full ceramics of the same. SKF E2. Energy Efficient (full Steel) has 40% lower friction than standard SKF Explorer and are very cheap, the Zircon-Ceramic hybrid (Steel Ring) has 60% lower and have good price. the full Ceramic SKF have a superior quality and not have a cost of a groupset like CeramicShit

I thank you so much for your fantastic content and hope to some new videos soon....BUT... No one NEEEDS to spend a penny on coaching. I appreciate yiu earn money from this, but it isn't necessary. Nor is spending money on nutrition outside of healthy regular food. Agreed that many bike upgrades/new bike purchases are expensive and virtually pointless...unless you are of a very high standard and a few watts here and there means something. Having said that, many ipgrades ARE cost effective and if someone gets joy from "pimping" their bike, good for them.
