Thanks, short sweet and streaght to the point. The important information didn't get lost in any rambling. Just so I got it clear the terminals go to the positive of each series connection and the first one goes to the negative end of pack. I got a different pack built up of nese modules and am upto the point of assembling it and feel confident now that's to your vid. Keep up the good work. Got a sub from me =) Oh and my battery config is 12s7p for my E-MTB

At 3:57 of your video, curious to know where you got what I believe is the yellow battery casing that's unfolded and laying flat under your charger and battery. I have been looking for some but don't know what to call it so my search isn't turning up anything. Can you provide a description for the material and where you go it?

if you have a 16s pack or anything higher than an 8s where you "need" two 8s hobby chargers to balance, how do you connect two sets of 8 balance leads? Does the 8th series positive and 9th series negative become the "main" negative of the 2nd set of balance leads?

Indeed, I connected the black in - then I figured out that was wrong, I had to redo all 9 connections again ^^ (8S)

I have a question about when to recharge my lithium battery pack so as to properly extend and maintain the life of the battery? 1) what percentage is best to start recharging? Should I wait until I drain the battery to 10%? 2) for period of inactive use) say. 3weeks to several months) , what percentage should I keep the battery at so it can take the charge again when I need to use it?

thanks for that.ive just fitted a new throttle with lcd and 48v v controller prewired to my ebike and it worked fine then after a couple mile the power dropped off for a bit then came back on .maybe loose connection i got back home and up the hill had enough power and checked battery still 52v left as only went about 4mile.whats your favoured throttle and controller

Do these battery packs have to be charged at the same time or can you use one 8 cell balance charger to charge the 6s and 7s packs one at a time?
@station2405 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the colour coding on the balance cables is nonsense. Dupoint jumper cables are wired in 'resistor colour code' order: black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, grey, white. Balance cables don't even try to do that, it's a mess. I've been making my own cables, so the wire colours are consistent in order and quality.

Very informative. I am a Newbie to this hobby. Question, is it possible to put together a single 48v with one balancing lead? If so, what would be the config? Thanks.
@vuaeco4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. But it'll be hard if not impossible to find a 12S balance charger. It'll be better just to use a BMS.

What is the device that you used to the end of the video ? which displays the voltage of each terminal I.e. 6 voltages in this case. I am thinking of using it somehow in the battery packs I have to monitor the individual voltages as sometimes one or more of the parallel set of cells stop charging/discharging in sync with the others.

mines 26s and i wonder if the have to be seperated into 6s for my 6s charger. looks like he didnt seperate his, just bent it in half 7 and 6s still conected? i gotta know
@eideticgoone70353 жыл бұрын
@@williamwindex3890 He left the 6s and 7s connected. I think he can charge at the same time because he is using two separate chargers. I worry that if one was trying to charge two parts of a connected pack with say one of those dual channel chargers, then unless the grounds on both channels were independent, you could burn out a channel because the grounds of both parts would be at substantially different voltages.

I'm trying balance with turnigy 6s charger same as yours but keeps saying cell error its 5s2p maybe a its over 18v max range for 5s.my smart battery meter works ok to balance its on now

hi.my 20v 5s2p pack made of samsung 26d cells had drained quick to 10v .it was powering the led torch like you made.i found 2 cells were dead and were causing the 2 cells joined to them to get very hot.they were connected with the vruzend kit i already had.i have a 52v kit i use on ebike works ok thats vruzend kit.havnt used the torch much.i fitted one your led voltmeter on kit but that wouldnt drain it much would it?going replace 2 cells with similar capacity
@vuaeco5 жыл бұрын
Yep, when a cell gets hot, it's time it's gotta go. It might also bring down any cell parallel to it. The 100V LED meter wouldn't drain that much. You can use a single 18650 to power it if you have to. I would just install a switch and turn it on when I need to then draining power would no longer be an issue.

Does anyone know if we could balance the batteries by just connect parallel the batteries together, so the higher one will charge the lower one to balance them. I intend to do that by using the diodes, so they will balance them automatically after use. Or we can charge them in parallel with the diodes with 4.2v power supply. Sorry, I am not an electrician!

What’s your recommendation for good fast Lipo chargers?
@vuaeco5 жыл бұрын
I have an Accucel 6 balance charger and it's been running for 8 years. I use it almost everyday. Besides the cooling fan which is now loud due to bad bearing (as expected because use it a lot), it has no problem. I would buy it again if I needed one more.

@@vuaeco I am new to ebike business. In the past I used emergency computer backup battery unit to charge the scotters 6volt battery. That work. Also I used Bosch tool battery charger to charge all kinds battery by hard wiring using refg copper pipe as connector. Somehow this Bosch battery charger that come with tool know how much Volt battery should be charge. It can charge battery from 9volt to 30volt. After watched so many your video last few days. Realized you have all kinda battery charger. I don't know exactly what each one does or what you are talking about with all electrical terms. Anyway, if I just want to buy one charger, which one to buy? Recommendation?
@vuaeco5 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend a Turnigy Accucel 6. It's cheap, easy to use, durable, and it can charge all kinds of batteries from NimH, NiCad, Lead Acid, and Li-ion... And most importantly, it can balance charge. That's the one you see at the end of the video where I was charging my 6S battery pack.
@stevemcgowan30175 жыл бұрын
also I've asked you this before when you connect balance cable my leads have 1st red lead then rest are black so you connect to 1st positive then alternative negatives.so which is right or do they both work ?
@vuaeco5 жыл бұрын
The orientation depends on how you hold your balance connector. Try like what I show in the video and compare it with your method. Don't trust the colors on the balance cable, they are all random.
@stevemcgowan30175 жыл бұрын
yes i just checked itvaag 's video he said with flat connector facing down the negative will be on right so i changed leads over its ok
@vuaeco5 жыл бұрын
Yes, if the flat side faces down, the negative is on the right if the wires are away from you. If the wires are on your side and the flat side down, the negative is on the left.

@@magnetorsfour1612 all cells in parallel are automatically balanced. It is a basic rule. So when balancing you only care about balancing the group of cells together

How do i balance charge my 14S/11P without splitting it in two pieces and if my bms fails to balance the cells? Anyone?
@vuaeco5 жыл бұрын
A 14S balance charger is virtually non-existent. Or if there's one, it's gonna be very expensive. You don't have to completely split your battery into 2 pieces. You can just still connect balance cables without splitting it into 2 pieces. You can do 6S and 8S and use 2 balance chargers to charge it. I did this in my previous video right before this one.
@mechimichi5 жыл бұрын
@@vuaeco Thank you for your answer and for your excelent educational videos. Thumps up for you. I saw the video you mentioned and understand how you do it. Do you think i could balance wire my pack as you did and still use my BMS which i like to have because of low voltage cut off. My cells are old and therefore out of balance. I saw this video from a dude that made his own DIY 19 cell balancer. Have you seen his video and what you think about his project?
@thediydude41105 жыл бұрын
should of just got a 13s bms
@vuaeco5 жыл бұрын
That would add more cost, time, and complexity to the build. Not to mention most BMS has reliability problem unless you get the expensive ones. Whatcha gonna do when your BMS breaks? That's another day wasted just to get it fixed and replaced. It's just another added component waiting to fail. Why is it so necessary when you already have a balance charger? Afraid of overdischarge? Get a volt meter. :D
@thediydude41105 жыл бұрын
it makes it simpler one plug to charge not 2 rc chargers thats why on my pack im running a bms but its only for charging so if it breaks I can still ride just not charge plus ill have spares.
