Indeed haha! I wake up at 5am everyday because of him (or earlier depending on when I sleep), and it makes the day seem much longer and more productive

Renegade sounds like the one extreme (maybe in terms of timing, effect, scale, or disruptiveness) of the spectrum of having influence up the chain of command. So it naturally depends on and relies on the same principles of influence that Jocko talks about all the time for leadership: building relationships and trust, listening a lot, being humble, caring about your team and the mission, etc.

Great answer and even better advice. Not sure how many times I've seen people push back on every little stupid thing and, yes, as you said, people start to stop listening. Picking your "battles" at work and in business is very important and builds your credibility with the leadership.

You're wilfully disadvantaged in business, if you haven't read Extreme Ownership yet.

It seams like Team Players of any kind are always looking for the best solution. Those who are not team players seem to be run by their egos.

I love the word, “Renegade.” That’s why I branded myself as that.

Well, it means "turncoat", "traitor", or "heretic/apostate". So I would be careful with that -- unless you actually want to sell your company's secrets, betray your country and maybe leave your religion...

Whenever old leadership P.C.S. out and a new leadership comes in and inprocess basically your rolling the dice. The same goes when you P.C.S. to a new post. I've heard where i.g. comes in and relieves them of their command😅.

How can a person be an effective leader while struggling to face down struggles of their own?

I don't want to presume. You probably know this. Read Diana West's book American Betrayal to understand why if you can't make sense of this craziness.

Please don't say "fighting the vietnamese". You weren't doing that. You were fighting an international communist effort to dye the country red and assisting the remaining free south vietnamese in doing so.
