Saw III (2006) is a very temperamental movie within the Saw series. While having many great ideas, it is so over bloated with it's run time and is unimaginably slow. Featuring one of the series most unlikeable characters, a relationship between jigsaw and Lynn that is phenomenal but Amanda is just way too over the top. It's an incredibly mediocre film yet it has so many great ideas, but one thing it does succeed in is providing some of the series most suspenseful and psychological traps.
One of the best things about the Saw series is trying to figure out different ways to survive every death contraption. Now it's time to cover all the traps in Saw III, and see how our Jigsaw victims could beat the traps and survive.

Sucks the angel trap being overseen by Amanda herself makes even surviving the trap pointless, as Amanda is an unhinged psychopath who wouldn't hesitate to take her down, and would clearly not leave the area if Kerry was getting too close to uncovering stuff. It's a shame Jeff wasn't overseeing it, would've taken him so long to fumble down the hall and press the trap trigger

Since I just now realized that you're watching the theatrical cut, instead of the director's cut, I feel obligated to mention that the key around Amanda's neck DOES NOT open the shotgun collar. There's a scene from the director's cut where Lynn and Amanda actually get into a fight, during which Lynn manages to get the key from Amanda's neck. Unfortunately, it doesn't open the collar OR the door out of the room. Now that I think about it, did we ever learn what that key DOES open? I think I read somewhere that it opens the door to John's sick room, since it looks similar to the key sent to Agents Strahm and Perez, but don't quote me on that.

This is a peace of detail I did actually forget, as I usually avoid the directors cut due to the films over bloated and excessive run time. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Looking into this further, it does not seem like we get any answers or details ever as to where that key leads to or what it is actually for.

⁠@@PatrickBurowI believe the key is intended to the for the door where Jeff’s daughter is being held. I could be wrong however because we never see Hoffman grab the key from Amanda’s neck in Saw 4. He simply closes the door where John, Amanda, Jeff, and Lynn’s bodies are. Strahm is the only person alive in the room. I would also assume since he puts Strahm in the Water cube, he goes back, grabs the key from Amanda’s body, then “saves” Jeff’s daughter like we see in Saw 5. Love your content, hope you see this!

So the later films say Amanda killed Lynn because of Hoffman's letter, but I think there would've been a different reason had they never brought that in which makes more sense. Amanda was counting on Jeff to fail, on Lynn to fail. I'm betting the shotgun collar was rigged to kill regardless of what happened and Amanda didn't want John to know that. She would've had to face him and admit to what she did wrong, or as seen in the film kill Lynn to hide the truth. Given the theme of forgiveness throughout all the traps, had she admitted the truth he probably would've forgiven her but on condition she disarms the trap and lets Lynn go. Instead, unable to face the truth, we see what played out in the film.

Why are people in horror movies troped to be ignorant? If you want a good film, you should find a way to make them ignorant at some things but resourceful at others ( sort of like grabbing some things from a previous room before going into the next room, because you might need those tools.

@@randomnessltd To be real most characters in saw are written as ignorant, or not figuring out what to do to stop their traps because in reality if anyone was in a deadly saw trap at the moment they’d have no time so out of shock fear and rush is the feeling of the whole 1-minute time. No one would ever think to use there clothes to stop the gears that starts the trap while being scared of the time, “How to beat saw” is just a what if video.

He didn't need to rip his jaw out, the ring had a gap in it, all he needed to do was rotate it and unlink it from the chain. There's a shot of Hoffman picking up the jaw ring and you can very clearly see a gap in it.

Good vid!.. Only thing I would add is that Troy is kind of extra fucked, since removing the chains in his tendons would remove his ability to walk. One other youtuber mentioned it was possible to disable the bomb by removing the batteries, but as you mentioned, the sound of the bomb was why Troy was even found so... would it have been possible to disable the bomb temporarily, use your unlimited time to break the window, and then arm the bomb and toss it out the window? Might've been possible to break the window given enough time with a chair or something.

Something I've thought about with the shotgun collar: what's keeping her from lifting it up over her head? It looks like there's nothing attaching it to her torso, and yes, it does look kind of heavy, but she has the steady hands of a surgeon, and there is ample time when Amanda has left her alone to gather the tools for the surgery when Amanda and John can't see her. It looks like the collar has more than enough clearance to lift up right over her head if she was careful enough not to trigger it, then she could just put it on a table (within range of the heart monitor) and run away. Given, she doesn't know her daughter and husband Jeff are still being held captive by John, but if she ran away, she could go and get the police. It looks big enough to just lift up over her head

I get the idea of pulling wires to turn off traps, but I think it's entirely possible that those wires might be bait. The wires could be connected to receivers that will automatically trigger the trap when they don't receive a signal from the wires. The base of the rack trap looks big enough to hide an internal battery and wiring that ACTUALLY controls the trap.

i remember when i was young i was constantly told not to watch Saw. around 11 or 12 years old i snuck into my parents room and found the only Saw movie on On Demand, Saw 3. i was absolutely transfixed and immediately took my dads laptop, went on some sketchy free sites and binge watched all of the Saw movies in one night. Saw 3, despite being slow and all, will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart for introducing me to the wonderful world of horror and gore

I'll be honest I find the trap situations quite interesting. And tbh understanding Jeff's situation helps get through it. I can't imagine how much he'd want revenge on them so anger and revenge will prevent most people from reacting quickly. Also he was concussed, beating up and probably high (off the sedative) and still tipsy from his addiction.

I love how Amanda bothered to weld the door shut in the classroom trap. Like putting a shackle through someone's jaw wasn't enough to make it unbeatable. Also kinda funny that the thing that makes that game beatable is the bomb that doesn't even need to be there.

I have an idea on how to beat the pig vat trap: if the key is hidden inside one of the toys, maybe Jeff could try to break the glass, grab his sons things and feel around for the key. And if he finds the key, he could use the broken glass to rip where the key was found. It’s a shot in the dark, but it might work.

I hate to say it, but removing power from the rack may not stop it or it may possibly make it worse. Knowing Jigsaw he makes his traps so they can't be turned off just by being unplugged. Based on the size of the rack is probably takes a lot of power so messing with those wires could kill you. And if there's a way to undo the wiring there's a chance its wired in a way that it can work on its own once the switch has been engaged. Maybe a relay or a push button system that requires a start button and a stop button. My evidence for this is the drill trap in the first movie. When Tap and Sing tried to capture Jigsaw he pushed a button and kicked the wire off the button pressed to keep them from shutting down the drills. This implies the button just activates the device, but isn't the source of power. And with a limited amount of time by the time you find the power source and remove it safely it may already be too late. I would suggest breaking the teeth on the gears of the trap. Gears need those teeth to spin. No teeth, no movement. That being said they're probably steel, big and thick as hell it would required a great deal of force to break. The big takeaway from any traps (with a few exceptions) is that they're meant to probably only go once. Meaning once started there's probably no way to turn them off, because Jigsaw wasn't planning on stopping them.

Shot gun collar I’d say just rip it off like a band aid after blocking the triggers. Lin was moving around a lot and it never went off I doubt it’s as sensitive as they told her. In the scene she’s helping John in his seizure she’s moving hella. And when Amanda shot her she fell into Jeff’s arms and I’m sure the trap moved off her shoulders a little and the trap didn’t go off. So block the triggers first then lift it up quickly and throw it behind a wall or at Amanda lol like a hot potato.

Shot gun shells are mostly plastic at the tips, honestly all you would need to do is cut a hole in the top of each shell and drain the pellets and gun powder out of the shells, without actually removing them. No gun powder means no actual blast. The triggers would hit the primer but without anything in there, it wouldn't be fatal. Honestly its the easiest trap to defuse since it wouldn't require bulky power tools and instead a small sharp blade.

I don't think Kerry would have had time to get away if she disabled the trap as just before it goes off she looks up and says "You...." and we later see that it was Amanda so obviously she was nearby to make sure her trap went off.

Technically the first unbeatable trap was the Bathroom trap for Adam. Amanda screwed his game up by just throwing his key in the tub instead of placing it around his neck.

Being able to slide the shotgun shells out would actually be safe because you need alot of force for the firing pin to fire off the shell

The only way to block the pig grinder is get something that stops the pis entering the funnel such as sheet metal or going to the start of the chain carrying the pigs to jam the pully wich would be a waste if time And theoretically you would live troys trap by getting the chains out to put 2 or 3 stacked tables in front if the bomb and duck beneath them as nail bombs and greande shrapnel usually flies upwards and as its placed on a table tje result would be similar

I understand why Lin was chosen and why she was killed but still. she was put in there because she was a good doctor and "used anti-depressants" which a grieving mother might do. it sucks seeing how close she was to getting out if it wasn't for Jeff. I think you should make a video of yourself attempting some of the things you suggest in these videos. No hate or anything but I feel like its harder than you might think to rip pretty thick wires off of a welded surface or to bust a metal lock using a handgun.

Troy may only be able to survive his unbeatable trap by taking a desk & placing it over the top of the bomb itself. Assuming it can fit that way, otherwise the concussion of the bomb itself could still kill him even if he tried to hide behind a laid down desk even if the nails don't. It could explode his eardrumbs causing him to bleed out & have internal bleeding issues aside from ripping the chains out.

With the angel trap, it looked like the bucket was movable. She couldve just tipped the bucket and pour the acid out or onto the trap. The key wouldnt have been messed up in a short amount of time.

jamming the hammers on the shotgun collar would be a little unsafe since whatever item you use for the task has a good chance to fall out. that bein said wrapping a thick shirt arround your neck to block the path of the shot would render this trap useless... since the explosion of the powder is not contained by a hard object like a barrel it dumps all the energy from the fraction of the powder that does ignite into all directions following the path of least resistance. Theres plenty of videos showcasing that on youtube with both bird and buckshot (the 2 most likely rounds to be used in this trap) not even being able to blow up a balloon from a foot away

Simply put, acid "burning" is a reaction that takes molecules from the other object and makes new stuff. Glass is often made of materials that don't react easily. So, the acid can't start a reaction with the glass.

If the shotgun collar was beatable would it be after Jeff slit john's throat and Amanda shot Lynn because either way Lynn would die from blood loss and Jeff would just be SAMF Jeff and take his time to put anything between the detonators ,but then again the same ending would have happened with Jeff killing john kramer
