With SAW X right around the corner, hitting theatres this September, I figured it was time I revisit all 9 SAW movies and review them over the coming weeks in anticipation. SAW is very special to me, it has a very special place in my heart, without SAW I probably wouldn't be here talking movies on KZfaq with all of you. So lets get started and before anything else, we must start from where it began with SAW, 19 Years Later.
#Saw #SawX #Jigsaw #johnkramer
Photographer Adam Stanheight (Leigh Whannell) and oncologist Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) regain consciousness while chained to pipes at either end of a filthy bathroom. As the two men realize they've been trapped by a sadistic serial killer nicknamed "Jigsaw" and must complete his perverse puzzle to live, flashbacks relate the fates of his previous victims. Meanwhile, Dr. Gordon's wife (Monica Potter) and young daughter (Makenzie Vega) are forced to watch his torture via closed-circuit video.

After hearing the news of Saw X I binged all 9 in a row, and for Jeff, John Cramer talks about him being part of something greater, so I think Jeff was literally just a test dummy for John Cramers trap, aswell as how much he needs to knock someone proper out, because he talks about how he needs to up the dosage. So yeah I think Jeff is just "The intern" who do the human trials of traps before they are set in motion.

the fact that SAW was a low budget film only to become one of the most iconic franchises of horror for Halloween is crazy but amazing nonetheless, I cannot handle SAW due to the gore and my Father showed me SAW at a very young age and I was severely traumatized by Billy, I'm gonna be 20 and I'm not afraid anymore, even though I'm not a big fan of the movies like you are Patrick, lemme tell you I cried when I saw the SAW X trailer seeing John, Billy, Amanda because I know who they are and I got so happy! and those con artists I cried at feeling so bad for John and so I hope SAW X will be another great SAW movie because your videos about it has made me beyond excited for it :D

Are you going to go see it? Btw, maybe your father showed you the film too early in your young life which unfortunately brought your child mind unnecessary trauma at that time. But when you become an older adult, and your father crosses over into the afterlife, you will think back fondly on the time that your awesome dad thought that you (as a very young person) were mature enough at the time to even watch this incredible movie!!!

Saw 3D (7), Jigsaw, and Spiral were "Meh!" in my opinion. Jigsaw was terrible and broke Canon timeline. They rushed Saw 7 for 3D. Spiral was more like a Seven sequel than Saw. Anyways, Happy B-day! I didn't even know about Saw until around the time the third film came out when I was around 14. I didn't actually watch them because I was really squeamish in my youth, but as I grew older I became a lot more tolerant of gore and the like. It wasn't until I gave 'Welshy's Saw Retrospective' a watch when I was planning my fanfiction story that I finally started getting into them. If you haven't watched his retrospective I highly recommend it.

My first experience with the saw movies was when I was roughly 6 or 7 and I saw the trailer for saw 3D on tv. I asked my mom about the movies and she told me they’re not appropriate for me so naturally I was curious about them because as kids we love things we aren’t supposed to watch, and then from that point I noticed more saw related stuff around me like the dvds and playthroughs of the game on KZfaq. Then one day I stumbled upon the love triangle trap from saw 3D and as a kid it was scarring but I just was kinda drawn to the series, then when I was about 13 I watched all the movies since they were all on Netflix at some point. And I saw jigsaw and spiral in theaters and I just fell in love with the series, I’m 20 now and it’s my favorite horror franchise to this day

I loved this review! It's so great to hear someone really understand the film and Jigsaw and his motives for this film - so many people have latched onto the later films' version which is still pretty good but not as awesome as the first one. There's something about the contradictions and hypocrisy of Jigsaw in this movie that makes him a lot scarier and interesting as a villain! Also that's a wild way to be introduced to the franchise - I'm glad you still managed to come around to it after that! 😂

I think your reviews and opinions are so much better freestyled and unscripted and straight out of your mind, I do agree that it being such low budget and so many creative efforts being put into making the first film stood out and the psychological and criminal aspect of the movie is most of the appeal. I also completely love the fact that he always puts them in positions where the "victims" end up killing themselves I feel like he gives everyone a fair chance and he's in my top two favorite horror villians. I also firmly believe with how talented you are Patrick you will do great things for the film industry and even music industry because ik you play yourself and write (or used to) such a talented person100℅!!😋🙃

Watching this video again... 12:02 , you mention H. H. Holmes. He was a serial killer active around the time of the 1898 World's Fair in Chicago, IL, and thought to be one of the US's first serial killers. I'd highly reccommend reading half of The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. I say half because Larson wrote half the book following Holmes, and half the book on the creation of the World's Fair. The narrative switches back and forth between the two different storylines. They very rarely intersect, but you'd find H.H. Holmes's story very, very interesting. You're right, he did torture his victims. He flirted with women and then would kill them inside a hotel he built in Chicago (he was not an architect, and anyone who entered the hotel found that the walls and the floors were warped. It gave a really, REALLY terrifying feel to it). The house was full of secret passageways and waya to observe those who stayed there, and the basement was a torture chamber. It was so, SO CREEPY.

The series made such an impact on my life like it did on yours. At the beginning when was a kid these movies freaked me out because of the scary traps. But then as a teen these movies entered my life again they really began to terrify me when I realized that if Jigsaw were real he would've targeted someone like me. Because at the time I was suicidal. Years later finally as an adult I really sat down and watched the movies back to back over a week and realized three things: Jigsaw could never exist, the story was so much more than just torture, and because of that fear I had of Jigsaw wanting to punish me I took a hard look at my life and pondered if I really wanted to die. In a sick way the series taught me that despite my demons I deserved to live, I should cherish my life and that I could have a second chance to change. I was scared straight by Saw of all things. So the series has a strong place in my life because of its affect on me. Don't get me wrong I did not side with his beliefs or his methods, but because of this series I changed for the better.

One thing that's really cool in this movie that gets completely contradicted later in the series is Jigsaw actually refers to himself as Jigsaw! He claims in Saw 2 that he never coined nor encouraged that name, but in this movie he is straight up calling himself Jigsaw! It was his signature, not simply a symbol of what his victim was missing. Don't believe me? When Adam sees the picture of Allison and Diana in Dr. Gordon's wallet, it is signed "Regards," with a jigsaw piece drawn next to it!
@eleanorcooke7136
@eleanorcooke7136 10 ай бұрын
Did he actually call himself Jigsaw? The police and media coined the name jigsaw because he drew the jigsaw pieces or cut them out of his victims, to symbolism that they were missing a vital piece, the will to survive. As far as I can remember, he doesn't ever verbally refer to himself as Jigsaw. But I may be mistaken.

I was 18 when saw came out. I shared a room with my sister at the time who was watching it. I think I spent most of the time with my hands over ears as I was terrified. Wasnt until I was about 21 that I got into horrors, and I re watched and just became obsessed with the franchise.

One thing I don't understand which maybe you can help me. If the key didn't go down the drain couldn't adam just undo the chain and leave? Then the whole plot would fall apart?

Maybe around the first movie Jigsaw was still figuring out his ethos? Because for example, when Amanda had to get the key from the dude; where was his chance to live? And when Amanda and Hoffman made inescapable traps, Jigsaw wasn't very happy with them, but he had people in unfair situations before. What about all the traps where characters had to try and save other people? Are we to assume that they lost a game that we don't know about, which ended them up in those situations? Amanda and Hoffman certainly bastardised Jigsaw's ethos, but he was also a hypocrite at times. Please help me understand this, thanks.

I’ve addressed this quite a lot over the years regarding SAW 1. In the scene you’re speaking of, the actor may be wearing shoes but the character is not supposed to be. This is a production thing to protect the actor, with the films limited budget they needed to improvise with whatever resources they had (not to mention the insanely short 11-18 day production). The actor is seen wearing shoes to protect his feet while the character is meant to be barefoot per his test. In original SD copies of the film you can’t even tell he’s wearing shoes unless you are looking for it, where in the later HD Blu Ray and UHD 4K Blu Ray copies it’s much more apparent due to the films upscaled resolution and sharper quality. It’s a safety thing where during production they had to improvise due to budget restrictions. Similar to how Leigh Whannell is a stand in for Ken Leung during the warehouse scene involving Tapp, Sing & Jigsaw. Due to Ken Leung being unavailable during a reshoot day, Leigh stood in as a double when you see Tapp and Sing enter the warehouse, here Whannells Jaw is extremely noticeable but this wasn’t the case in the originally released versions. These issues have only started to occur and inconsistencies have only started to be brought up post Lionsgate releasing upscaled versions of the film. These are production things, they aren’t intentionally, one has to remember the $1.2 million budget in 2004 which was extremely low.

I’m aware of that, and after a recent rewatch I still think Jigsaw has such a magnitude of problems from plot holes, an incoherent narrative, unlikeable characters and is unforgivably boring.

In the trailer John literally tells the victims who he is and why they’re there. If they did survive then they’d know exactly who did this to them. I imagine no one survives otherwise John would be imprisoned

Idk. I'm not sure but for most of the series, they know who Jigsaw is. They just can't find him or he outsmarts them. I don't remember how they found out but maybe that helped, or it brings in another accomplice.
