I blame just the wife honestly. If she would have just left that damn kid at the beginning none of this would have happened.... and then she purposely infects the husband which kills a whole city lol.... Dude... for real. The mom fucks around when being chased by zombies to save a random kid that led the zombies to your safe house doorstep. Then she let's her husband, who was completely justified for leaving her, plant a smooch on her that infects him. The kids shouldn't have snuck out of the safe zone in the most disastrous biological disaster in history. Don shouldn't have had access to basically a potential weapon more destructive than a God damn nuke along with thinking its a good idea to kiss his wife who was clearly bit and possibly infected. Fuck... the entire family is equally responsible for fucking the rest of humanity. They should have all been shot and killed.

You're wrong, you don't understand what the difference between being immune and being asymptomatic is. You can be immune to something and still carry the thing you're immune to. If someone was immune to the common cold, they could become infected with it, have it in their body, DUE to their immunity be asymptomatic, and go on to transfer it to other people while you remain immune.

It’s a harsh truth, but other than being another mouth to feed, what is their purpose? Mobs of flesh eating, rage filled cannibals are roaming the countryside, and the group would like to not die. The old folks can’t fight, they can’t run, they can’t carry very much equipment or be nimble enough to hop fences. They also clearly don’t have specialist expertise or any particular skills that would help the group, so what would be the reasoning for risking the lives of the younger people in the group to keep these old folks breathing, outside of a basic moral code? Outside of letting them stay so they can be a tasty distraction when the zombies inevitably break in, there isn’t much point to them in this scenario.

If it was an ACTUAL apocalypse level pandemic then the people, and the lower tiers of government would handle it, quickly. You underestimate how quickly rural America can organize and protect itself. Sure it would still be an apocalypse, and the vast majority would die, but there would undoubtedly be more pockets of survivors than you think.

My main issue with the rage virus is that it's just physiologically impossible - you simply cannot haemorrhage that amount of blood and not bleed out within a matter of minutes, never mind the whole dehydration/starvation aspect. In the latter regard the general rule of thumb is you can go around 3 weeks without food but only 3 days without fluids. The zombies would wipe themselves out faster than they could spread the virus.

Realistically the rage zombies are likely pretty damn strong on a physical level. High Adrenaline has been known to allow near superhuman strength. it's a condition known as hysterical strength. Additionally this same adrenaline jump can also heighten theor sense of hearing and smell and even theoretically sight. Although going full tilt all the time can't be good on their bodies. These zombies are running on max adrenaline all the time. This also likely contributes to how they died out after only 5 weeks. Especially the whole disease and puking/ hemoraging thing. Still I think I'd have waited 3 months before starting to reclaim via eradication just to be safe.

“5 weeks later the infected die of starvation” So when I first watched this I agreed with your sentiment, that humans can last much longer than that, however I began considering that humans survive that long by conserving their energy. The rage virus is causing these people to burn their energy/calories at an almost inhuman rate. I could totally see them burning themselves out and dying from lack of nutrient intake after a mere 5 weeks of running around, screaming their heads off and, most notably, constantly ejecting bodily fluids from every orifice. The infected in this universe could totally die after just 5 weeks of starving.

For your average, fresh, Rage Virus zombie, hemorrhaging a few ounces of blood in a day, blood is sufficiently clotted internally after initial vomiting, a healthy 22-30 bmi, good muscle mass, running for several hours during the day, hopped up on adrenaline, they'll last 3 days, tops, before collapsing from blood loss, dehydration, heart attack or heat stroke. If they're largely inactive and unprovoked in a rural area. I'd give them a week before dehydration and blood loss takes them. The mid-term problem will be the mammal scavengers getting infected and making England an infection hotbed for YEARS. The long term? Scavenging BIRDS getting infected and randomly flying to mainland Europe, spazing away and biting humans/animals. BOOM. Asia is FUCKED for decades/centuries.

You're assuming every human dies immediately upon being bitten - which is nowhere near what would happen. Realistically, most people would be able to get away with just a bite; we're talking intelligent, capable humans who are struggling and fighting, versus brainless cannibals. Even wild predators don't always kill their prey in one fell swoop. That's why venom exists - just like a zombie virus, it almost RELIES on the victim getting away from the attack. Otherwise why have it?
@42billybob
@42billybob 2 жыл бұрын
Rage "zombies" are infected in a matter of seconds. So after a few seconds of getting beaten, bitten, and bled on... the victim would be a full blown infected. And they seem to mostly ignore each other. So as long as they can survive a ~20 second savage beating, the victim should be "OK" (ie: intact enough to go on to be a viable "zombie" in their own right). It's more of an issue for classic Romero zombies. But even then, they tend to get up and walking a matter of minutes after death (and I think it's fair to assume once they're reanimated others will stop eating). Unless the victim gets completely swarmed, or the victim is unfortunate enough to stay alive for hours of getting eaten, or they eat the brain, it'd be a challenge for any small handful of zombies to finish eating someone in that timeframe. I mean... humans aren't exactly piranhas, we're pretty slow eaters all things considered. Small mouths, flat grinding teeth, narrow throats, & a pretty modest stomach capacity (if that matters).
@actionpotato
@actionpotato 2 жыл бұрын
@@42billybob The rage virus scenario also allows for the zombies to starve to death. But what we see is people turning almost immediately. Other "classic" zombies are pretty much driven by magic or something because even losing half the body doesn't kill them... and they dont need any sustenance. I suppose in either case, in the event of a sudden outbreak it would be a target rich environment. They might nibble on one and try to catch another. But predators in real life don't do that. A lion that catches a calf wont drop it and run after the others. But its movie logic and like someone above said: "plot".

"How to beat 28 weeks later" Step 1: Before you volunteer to repopulate an island that just had a zombie outbreak, consider if they're still clearing sections, if a quarantine is still in effect, and if they have a valid evacuation plan in place. Step 2: Realize they don't and don't go until the military is done doing their job.

@Inar Ord As a biker I tell you: it's NOT armor. It's protective gear for motorcycle accidents, which involves primarily impact protection for the head and abrasion resistance for the body so you don't end up like a peeled tomato. Sure, it's better than nothing, but won't stop cuts or getting beaten to death. Also, a helmet visor is quite flimsy and not secured. After one or two direct hits, it won't protect you against infected blood anymore. I've seen too many bikers trying to start sh*t on the streets because they feel like Iron Man in their gear, and they're NOT. In fact, they're sometimes EASIER to throw around given their reduced visibility and mobility.

I really liked the first movie, but hated this movie. The decisions made throughout were something you'd find in a fanfic by a new wannabe writer who had never had a logical thought in their life, and just started writing with the intent on dooming everything no matter how nonsensical it is. The way they brought the refugees back was stupid. The security was idiotic. Giving the maintenance man access to everything was beyond stupid. After the outbreak, sending every survivor into a dark enclosed parking garage with no support was basically murder. At the VERY LEAST they should have had the survivors head to their apartments or small armoured safe rooms, and lock them inside when the outbreak restarted. This would have kept them in small isolated groups, where if one got infected it would only kill a handful of people at most.
