He should have double tapped him. That is a good idea because while you CAN kill them (even with 9mm) by shooting them with body shots (to vital organs like the heart or lungs) there is still a chance they aren’t dead.

I feel like a better twist would be for David’s wife to be a “crazy” instead of rus This would explain why she keeps telling David to go and help people in buildings that are definitely traps,(including the baby room) And it would fool the audience to think of her as just another damsel in distress and that explains why they’re always splitting up

@@wugglesx Cinema Summary, again: After she dies, remove all her organs for food, except the brain, which contains deadly substances. Continue to use her as a shield as you protect yourself. Now, if you left her, the following could happen. 1. You might find her again, and she would still be a nuisance. 2. You lose a valuable resource. Some examples are food and protection. 3. She will die in vain. This is a minor one, as she is of no importance, but you need to use her as much as you can.

Yep. Even in his psychosis, he was intelligent enough to realize how fucked up he was. He knew to distract the National Guard roadblock AND kill himself before he went crazy. Although Russ ruined the exposition that the government agent tried to give him, was clutch til the end.

@@TheTillmanSneakerReviewI don’t even think he’s sick I think he was just a little trigger happy and the anxiety got to him. Then dr wife gaslit him into thinking he was sick. He never exhibited any symptoms outside of shooting the people who tried to kill them too ruthlessly.

I'd be disappointed if I perished in the first month of the apocalypse. I feel like I could do better. Then again, most of the time you never see this shit coming. Most people in Ogden Marsh had no clue that the water they drank was filled with a bioweapon.

48:03 Fun fact, the news channel shown, KCRG-TV 9 is the real news channel for Cedar Rapids, and the news reporter they show is Bruce Aune, a legendary news anchor for Cedar Rapids from 1986 to 2020. He was a staple of the community, a well-respected master of his craft, and the consummate professional. It's super cool they got him to do the news reporting for this movie. I have good memories of seeing him on TV as a kid.

Also I find it hard to believe that his wife who is supposed to be a doctor would freak out that much on the fire scene. Like I get she’s just a small town primary care doc, but in med school you have to do rotations in different specialties including high stress/see fucked up shit like the ER.

Eeh. It’s a really small town, so they know everyone. Likely grew up with everyone. So I don’t think she was meant to be a doctor in that moment. She was a resident realizing people she knew just burned in a house, including a child, caused by the husband. So I understood the reaction based on that.

The nuke was supposed to wipe everything infected off the map, so when 2 possible infected people escaped the blast zone the military probably shit themselves because they didn't have any helicopters, drones or military personal close enough to take them out (because all military personnel were evacuated prior to the nuke being dropped) before they reached the city. Even if they weren't infected, the military would have to operate under the assumption that the entire city is infected and must now be purged. It is hard to believe but the military in this movie weren't the bad guys, everyone else is. The survivors probably thought they were doing the right thing by escaping the quarantined zone, but that is precisely what caused humanity's destruction in the universe this movie is set in.

The reason she was screaming "no", was because anesthesia can cause a miscarriage. Granted, this isn't the time to worry about having a baby, but she's still going to try to stop that from happening. Also, being pregnant raises your body temperature, so she's wanting to prove she isn't infected.

It really annoys me when movies like this feel the need to put an overly stupid character in the movie (like the wife) to make the hero look better and to give them someone to save. People can be competent and then still need to help each other out through intense situations. It just makes the characters unlikable and makes me not care if any of them die.

I agree. I liked this movie. Plus, it's one of the few "virus/infection/zombie-ish" movies that is reasonable to believe can happen. They created a biological weapon and tried to dispose of it in secret because it's illegal and accidentally let it loose on a small town. Great premise.

Judy is probably the biggest liability for you. Like, she hit every single flag that you should not do. Go off on your own, failure to play dead (though, admittedly, playing dead is easier said then done), memory lane alone, being a doctor who cares to much about her people, accusing the person who just saved you of being infected for doing an understandable thing. Like, if you have one of those kinds of people in your team then you are screwed. Edit: Ok, yes she was right about Russ but immediate accusations after he saved your life is just uncalled for.

My silly theory is that the main characters got infected early on, along with everyone else, and that's why they made these decisions. Cause they were acting just as erratic as the 'crazies' were.

I’m a parkourist and it’s more than just “jump and roll.” The roll is called a safety roll and you have to roll over your left or right shoulder, which ever one suits you best, while avoiding hitting your head while rolling and you have to end the roll in a position called the figure 4, bc your legs make a number 4 of you straightened one leg out, and the figure 4 allows you to immediately get back to your feet to continue running which works very well. And the goal of the safety roll is to destitute the impact of the fall across your whole body so you don’t break your legs. Btw safety rolls don’t work on every fall. If the fall is too high, rolling won’t help. and not only that jumping into a safety roll is a little tricky bc people, including myself, tend to take all the impact to their legs then roll. You have to roll basically as soon as your toes touch the floor and when you’re in the air, you have to already be in the position to roll in order to do it properly. TL;DR Learn how do do a safety roll if you want to be able to “jump and roll” from a high platform.

How similar is the safety roll to a parachute landing fall if properly done?

@@1dirkmanchest although they both accomplish the same thing, distributing the impact of the landing across your whole body to prevent injury, they are very different. In the safety roll, you roll forward on your back. But with the parachute landing, you kinda just go on your side and end up on your back, which it isn’t a good position to be in if you’re running from something, which is why the safety roll is a lot better because it’s end position allows you to spring to your feet immediately and continue running.

@@Autocratical I assume that's what the writers were also aiming for. I doubt they would make the mistake to confuse a glock with a revolver. But it just seems like a very strange thing to point out that the gun was used on her husband without knowing that.

@@TotallyRandomVideoz1 That wouldn't be on the fault of the writers, it's very unlikely they specifically wrote in which props are in what scene unless said prop was a Chekhov's gun. From my standpoint though honestly it wouldn't matter if she had been at the ballpark or not, nor would it matter if it was the right gun and she made a lucky guess. Great overview, love that movie and the original. I'm sure this has already been pointed out. Stop the image at exactly 35.14. That image is the underside of an AH1 Cobra, not an AH64 Apache. Both very lethal CAS helo's but very different types. Cobra has been around since Vietnam, Apache was introduced just after the official end of that conflict.

That’s because a majority of filmmakers/directors/screenwriters never bother to write a well written female character that actually contributes to the plot in a meaningful way. It’s actually quite disappointing being an avid horror movie fan and a woman myself. Seeing my gender being portrayed as having no agency other than to be seen as annoying rather than being a fully fleshed out character like most male characters get, is really disappointing/frustrating.

I notice some pretty major parallels between the first family in The Crazies and the Torrance's from The Shining. Both fathers go on a tactical, murderous rampage and try killing their wives and sons. Both exhibit signs of mental illness beforehand, and repeat the same phrases. Both sons outsmart their father. The father from The Crazies even mentions that he's "just tired", which was a plot point for The Shining. Idk maybe I'm looking too far into it, but the references just seem too blatant for me to ignore

I really enjoy this channel as it gets me thinking about how to survive different situations and is just fun to watch. One small mistake I noticed is classifying the helicopter as an AH-60 Apache, the helicopter actually looks more like an AH-1 Cobra based on the silhouette. It doesn’t make that big a difference as having either chasing you won’t end well, but just thought I’d through that out there

Good video. This is one of my favorite Romero movies. I think this was better than the original back in the 70’s. Just had one pet peeve. You must not be around a lot of old farmhouses. The farmhouse looked like it was built in 1920’s, maybe 40’s. Could have still had all the original hardwood doors and yeah, if that was a hardwood door over 50+ years old, you can break an ankle kicking that all you want and still not make a dent.

To be fair it would be like drinking water that has radioactive material in it. Radiation is colorless odorless tasteless and I'm pretty sure biological weapons are the same. You wouldn't be able to look in the water amd be like "yup there is a shit ton of biological weapon in here" you kno? It's a silent killer like radiation. It woulda been a toxicology report to see what is in the water. Some bozo who works at the treatment facility wouldn't be able to know that a highly dangerous chemical weapon is in the water. The real enemy is the government. They could have immediately extracted the plane and shut off the water plant until it was cleaned and the chemicals where gone. I mean the pipes probably woulda been full of the poisoned water but they coulda did a full evac of the town like centralia pa.

10:45 Technically, that looks like a pretty old house. Back before doors were built out of particle wood and card board, they were solid wood. Still there is no reason not to try to kick it down. Door frames are still built exactly the same. Sturdy, but breakable in an emergency... especially interior doors.

My theory about why it took a week for the virus to kick in is when it was in the plane it was tightly sealed and the seal finely gave way to let the virus out or it was a big river and took a while for the virus to spread to the town but the main problem the government should worry about is the other towns that the river connects too.

This was the 3rd “scary”(to me at 14) movie that helped me along into adoring the entire horror genre now as an adult. It’s silly to go back and watch some that scared me then but are almost unimpressive now lol

Btw parts of this movie was filmed in Lenox, Iowa. Thats where I went to school for about a year. Many of my teachers are extras in this movie. The school mascot is Lenox tigers. And the ball field, is exactly where I practiced baseball. It’s pretty cool actually.
