Great video! I appreciate that you pause at each sequence so I can pause my video to read and assimilate easier. I learned more about scope function from this video than watching months of more technical ones. Thank you! One other playlist category might be DIY Diagnostic Tools. I’d love to be able to fabricate my own, especially since I can’t afford good quality commercial ones. A video on how you fabricated the drill-driven trigger would be a good start. 👍🔧🧰

Appreciate the video and thought this would allow me to test my 3 wire from a 2001 dodge Cummins. I bouught a new camshaft position sensor and hooked it up exactly as you had showed checked and rechecked several time t omake sure the connections were correct. Under these conditions bringing a metal object to the surface of the sensor would not trigger the switch and bring the voltage down - no change. However with the same sensor hooked to the wiring harness of the truck it switches exactly as describes with the metal object. Is this something current related do I need a resistor or more resistors of other sizes beside the 22 Ohm and 1mOhm you show? Any insight appreciated.

Check the wiring diagram set up as in the video..the 22 ohm supplies the 5 volt ref and the 1 Megaohm to the signal ..thanks for watching

Great video! Question: on a 2010 dodge, i checked ground at the cam sensor plug while disconnected and got 19 ohms. Would that be considered ok or should it be closer to zero? I havent yet found a video explaining this exact test. Thanks
@jlsetnuper5 ай бұрын
the sensor ground wire is coming from the pcm or ecu, so you cannot test it with the multimeter in resistance, but try to check it by connecting the positive probe of the multimeter on the positive battery terminal and the negative probe to the ground wire of the sensor while disconnected with key on engine of..if you can read 12 volt then you have a good ground..

try to check the crankshaft connector voltage, by disconnecting the connector and check if you have two 5 volt and one ground..if it is good maybe you need to replace the crackshaft sensor..

Could you provide a wiring diagram of the bread board? I have been trying to zoom in. All the wires are white. Can’t tell what is connected to the ground behind the capacitor. And can’t figure out how that led works with only one wire going to it. I need this set up so bad. On my 2nd crank sensor and second cam sensor. No idea how to test them. Can’t probe them in the vehicle. Behind big parts.
@jwoodshed11083 ай бұрын
It appears that you are running 9v to one cap and 5v to the other cap. I just need to test a pile of sensors. This would be so cool to have made up for autos that hide the sensor’s behind moving parts.

Why use 5 volts? I don't have a peg circuit board and not sure how to set it up if I do find one. What is the 1M blue rectangle for in the drawing? Is it for the Multimeter that reads the signal voltage? Can this tests be used on the 3 pin Crankshaft Position sensor? On 1996 Chevy S10 2.2L
@jlsetnuper Жыл бұрын
1.(most of the new car uses 5 volt reference voltage. 2.)you can use 3 pcs. of 1.5 volt battery (total of 4.5v) instead of 7805 regulator. 3.) 1M is a 1 megaohm resistor. 4.) You should have a 1M resistor that connect to the source so that you can read the 5volt signal that goes up and down, (signal can be read at pin1) 5.)yes it can be use on a 3 pin crankshaft sensor which uses 5 volt bias voltage. 6.) sorry, I haven't tried a sensor for a Chevy S10..I dont have that sensor..thaks for watching

New subcriber here, thanks for this video. I got one question Camshaft sensor working fine but when I drive my car around 5k-6k rpm MIL comes and giving me P0340 code, and my engine starts to lose power, whay could be the main cause of it? Cheers,
@jlsetnuper Жыл бұрын
maybe the camshaft sensor is not working correctly or intermetent..have you tried another sensor? Or maybe, if the camshaft sensor is really good, the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor should work together in a specified time, and the only link between them is the belt or chain, try to check maybe the tensioner is loose. there are so many variables to check..thanks for watching..

@@jlsetnuper I am sure of the power input it is 12V it is written in specs, however two harness can't be shorted at the same time two separate wires for the signal have the same voltage, I have to be so unlucky if both shorted 😆... then the signal will operat in 10V range I guess.
