How to Breed and Grow Aulonocara

I am in charge of breeding and growing the Aulonocara at my LFS (Local Fish Store). This is still, even with the advent of my KZfaq channel, one of my main tasks at the shop.

Hello Richelle; When speaking of "quality fish" how do I know what breeders carry quality cichlids when ordering online? I would have to assume those who have been in business for some time. By the way, this is an informative video!

I stopped breeding my Peacocks. Because I runout of space and I now have to have a livestock licence to sell and transport from the UK. I can't afford to do it now. Top video good info. Thank you very much 👍😉😊

@@QuebecCichlides To sell fish no but to send them thought the post I need licence even within The UK to export it's a separate licence. I also need to have AWC Anamule wellbeing certificate. It all costs more money than I can afford. It's not like I was making a fat lot of money selling from my home. Anyway I did it more for fun. 😕

Yes my first breeding ever is Maleri stuartgranti Aulonocara.. my first batch of fry are just growing out now so beautiful!! Thanks for your experience and knowledge!!!

Pregunta Ase unos días compré 3 ciclidos dorados auratus de unos 7 centímetros de largo Y 4 ciclidos pavo real y calicos De unos 4 centrimetros Pero a los pocos días ya no volví a ver a los auratus dorado . Solo encontré sus restos Tengo mi pecera con tapa Decoracion arena y piedras Por qué los pavo real se comieron a los a mis Melanochromis auratus ?si estos eran más grandes . Y todos son ciclidos ? Love to watch your videos. What salinity to you keep most of these African fish and do you increase or decrease the salinity for spawning?

Hi, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I keep it around 400ppm. I don't modify the salinity for spawning. Often, with a cooler water change it can help. This week, with the change of seasons imminent, my fish are breeding like crazy.

In the name of the wee man! Where have you been hiding for years? (Sorry, sometimes when I'm a wee bit happy or joyful, the Scottish slang slips out on me! Oops my bad lol.😅;-)) Anyway subscribed straight away. Thanks. ☆☆☆☆☆ I have only seen about a handful (even if that,) of hobbyists/Breeders/Tradespeople. Who are not talking about Rift lake cichlids, constantly in hybrids or made up common names. Common names are fine, as long as it's used on a legitimate fish you can still find in the wild, if you know what I mean?

Hi there and thanks for the the vedio , I have 240L aquarium and i would like to have a stock of African cichild fish my I do have Fluval FX 6 and an air pump but I have an issue which is micropubbles when the filter hits the air bubbles it creates a miss of bubbles I am not able to solve this problem please help. Thank you

When I have too many bubbles, it's usually because the tank is not completely filled up. If the FX5 has bubbles coming out of the output, it's because something is wrong with your filter.

Hi I’m new to African cichilds what I want to no is I went to the fish store and said I’m starting a peacock tank and they sold me 3 OB Peacocks 3 red neck peacocks 3 strawberry peacocks and 3 blue ahli witch I thought where peacocks but now I think their haps their only 2inch fish and I’m I think their a mix of female and male the guy at the shop said to get around 25 and I have 12 for now but I want to no if I should just keep getting the fish in 3s of different types or am I doing it wrong as I asked on the Cichlid forum and they said I should only have one type of peacock my tank is a 75gallon 260l please can you help love the videos keep up all the hard work I watch your videos from the uk 🇬🇧

Hi Andy, You're not doing anything wrong. I think they got Peacocks and Mbunas confused. You can mix singles of peacocks but Mbunas need to be in groups of 3-4. If you mixed 3 of a same kind of peacock, one will dominate the others but it won't be as dramatic as some people would make it seem. Hi, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. It's an Aulonocara Ruby Red. A line bred cichlid. Usually they are redder in the body but, in my case, my male has more blue :)

u cant breed peacocks in a male only tank!!!!! Lady u could have told me that 2 years ago... i keep waiting and waiting. tried playing romantic music, lit nice candles, fed them oysters for aphrodisiacs.... 2 years ..... NOTHING!!!! :) nice video.
