You read that right! This time we're brewing up a wild one, a Fruity Pebbles Pale Ale made with over 2 pounds of the cereal. Big thanks to Liam from Wolf King Brewing for providing a recipe to build off of! What cereals would you like to see next?
Here's a link to the recipe I'm following:

Sweet! I’m a lifelong FP fan. They were at the top of my must brew list when I decided to get into the hobby. Just found this video this evening. I transferred my pebbles beer to secondary the end of last week. I fry hopped and seem to have a bit of a burny aroma I’m trying to let rest out a bit. It’s my first actual beer brew. I also added tart Cherry juice, lemon and orange zest, and lemongrass to really boost those flavors. I’m sooo excited, and I kept it gluten free.

A standard Cream ale doesn’t have lactose the term is just an old marketing gimmick, it’s a clean American ale with corn and low hop character. Would be fun to dry hop this with something subtle like Nelson!

I don’t think I would ever brew a beer with super sugary flavored cereal, but I’d be willing to drink one. Love the finished color of yours! I noticed in the beginning you mentioned creeam ales and bot liking lactose. Fun fact about Cream ales, don’t actually have any lactose in them, they are just lagered ales. They actually have no dairy in them whatsoever. The cream in the name is suspected to have been adopted from a marketing perspective to describe how it had a light and smooth taste for an ale, kind of like how cream soda also has no actual cream elements in it. Pretty much think of a cream ale as a kolsch that has a decent amount of flaked corn added to it. Looking forward to the next video! Cheers

I think you could have skipped the dry hop and still got the flavor. I am not a fan of fruity pebbles, fruit loops, or any of those cereals. However, I think Pops cereal would be a great addition to a Mexican lager.

The audio quality, music integration, voiceover and overall production quality have really been improving and I really noticed with this video. Great job man! Great video, as always, Justin! Smart move using the VBP cause the price of vanilla beans is always pretty pricey. I agree, the taste is very similar, and you have enough other flavors going on that you would not be able to tell the difference. Keep it up!

Love it! Can’t wait to try this. Probably going to need to see if my brew bag will fit in my brewzilla. I would imagine the cereal would slip through a false bottom and clog the pump.
@JusBrewing
@JusBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
Do what I do and use a grain bag in the basket! It'll help filter your wort and you can squeeze the bag after, extracting more sugars than if you don't squeeze the bag.

Just took my first taste of this and I think I screwed up somewhere. I put a big bag of fruity pebbles in the mash, “dry hopped” with an entire box of fruity pebbles and I get no fruity pebbles on the nose or taste. I might have to try and dry hop some more in the keg
@codebowl
@codebowl Жыл бұрын
I tried to do this on a cream ale and failed. My git mistake was adding an entire bag to the mash thinking it would transfer a ton of flavor over through fermentation, yep it basically all blew off with the fermentation. While I could dry hop I think I will just keg this and give it another shot with a different style, maybe a pale or blonde ale. I will certainly step feed the mash next time and dry hop as well.

Hey Justin! Could explain why you used flaked corn?? And what would be a good alternative for this beer? I’d love to try it. Thanks for your great content.
@JusBrewing
@JusBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
Originally I thought Fruity Pebbles were a corn based cereal (turns out there's rice based!) so I added flaked corn thinking it would help prop up that "bowl of cereal". The flaked corn doesn't make or break this recipe so you could sub it got flaked rice or just more of your base malt, just something super simple that won't take the spotlight from the Fruity Pebbles 🍻

Awesome video dude. Really like the idea of using vanilla instead of lactose. I was considering a "cereal milk" beer, sort of like a "cereal milk" flavoured ice cream. I suppose I would use corn flakes and vanilla, and maybe some oats or pale caramel malt for body. Do you think the corn flakes flavour would be prominent enough to get the desired effect?
@JusBrewing
@JusBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think they'll be enough mostly because they're not crazy flavorful anyway. It may be a decent way to add cereal without overpowering the hops or other added flavors!

Love the video, excuse my ignorance but What was done that made this abv lower than wolf kings? I mean I see your final gravity was higher so that played a part and that made it sweeter which is nice for this brew but your start I gravity was lower why was yours around 1.04 and his was 1.06 I tried his recipe and got 1.08 so I'm trying to figure out what I did also but in reverse 😂
